I've extended the deadline for my Fairy Tales anthology in order to get more M/M story submissions. Much to my surprise I've received many more F/F queries and subs, so I'm reaching out to M/M writers now. Please forward this information on to other groups or writers who may be interested. simple counter Full details below and on my website: http://www.emlynley.com/cfs.html

GLBT Fairy Tales Erotic Romance Anthology

 Publisher: Ravenous Romance
Editor: EM Lynley
Payment: Royalties
Email: lynley.editor at gmail.com
Length: 3,500 - 10,000 words
Deadline: June 15, 2009 or until spots filled -- query ASAP if you need an extension
Publication Date: July 2009

The first one will be stories based on traditional fairy tales, but with a GLBT slant. Here's your chance to spice up some favorite childhood tales in a way you've never seen before, but always wanted to tell the story! Feel free to use non-European tales as a base. Here are a couple of great resources for inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fairy_tales and http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/talesindex.html

Currently accepting only m/m stories as there has been an abundance of f/f queries and subs. CLOSED to f/f subs unless you have previously queried.

All stories must have an erotic element, with a preference for romance over pure erotica. That means there should be a relationship between the characters beyond merely a sexual one. The sex should have emotion and I want to feel that along with the characters. These are fairy tales so there should be HEA or HFN, whichever is more appropriate for your story.

Deadline June 15, 2009. You may submit anytime before then, but I may not have a decision on yours until closer to the deadline. I strongly suggest a query in advance, with a 1-2 paragraph summary of your plotline to avoid having 10 Little Red Riding Hood stories, though perhaps that would be an interesting anthology on its own.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Specifics: 3,500 to 10,000 words. Please be sure your submission is free of typos and errors. Polish your story before sending it, please! No rape, underage, incest or bestiality. If you have other content you feel might be questionable, email me for clarification.

Format: send in RTF or Word (no docx), double spaced with no headers or footers.

Terms $10 per story advance against the royalties on ebook sales (and other non-exclusive subsidiary rights) for a period of three years.  Royalties are a pro rata share of the 35% on ebooks and 15% on audiobooks. If they sell additional subsidiary rights, additional payments will follow! More details of the rights here: http://ravenousromance.blogspot.com/...contracts.html

To submit, please send an attached document to lynley.editor @ gmail.com. Be sure your name & pseudonym, address, email, word count and a short summary of the story appear on the first page of your attached document (not only in your email). Also please include a 150-word bio suitable for publication with the story.

Feel free to email me with any questions:

WICKED GOOD: GLBT Angels & Demons Erotic Romance Anthology

Publisher: Ravenous Romance
Editor: EM Lynley -- [info]emlynley
Payment: Royalties/possibility of upfront payment instead
Email: lynley.editor@gmail.com
Length: 3,500 - 10,000 words
Deadline: June 15, 2009 (11:59 p.m. PDT) or when all slots are filled (whichever occurs first)
Publication Date: July 2009

The concepts of good and evil have fascinated us for millennia. Add in some sex, and we can’t get enough! Let’s see some new twists on this ever-popular theme. Angels with kinks; demons who make us do things we’ve always wanted to. Each story should have angels, demons or both. Preference for m/m pairings, but I’d love to see some hot f/f stories as well and ménage is welcome. I’m looking for erotic romance rather than pure erotica. That means there should be a relationship between the characters beyond merely a sexual one. The sex should have emotion and I want to feel that along with the characters.

Call for Papers/Writers: Queer Magic Anthology…(title to be determined…)

E-mail for inquiries and submissions: aediculaantinoi (at) hotmail (dot) com; please put “Queer Magic Anthology” in your subject line.

Megalithica Books, an imprint of Immanion Press (Stafford, U.K./Portland, OR, U.S.A.) is seeking submissions for an anthology on queer magic and/or ritual.

For the purposes of this publication, “queer” is primarily defined as anything of a non-majority sexual orientation (e.g. gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, etc.), or atypical gender identity (e.g. transsexual, transgendered, intersexed, genderqueer, metagender, etc.). Other things may be part of the widest understanding of “queerness,” including relationship styles (e.g. polyamory, etc.) or sexual practices (e.g. BDSM, fetishes, kink, etc.), and indeed magic, occultism, and paganism themselves (since they are “non-normative,” which is an agreed-upon definition of “queer” within many academic circles), but the focus of this volume will be on queerness particularly as it applies to gender and sexual orientation.

This is not an anthology that is intended to be about “personal stories of the intersection of magical/occult/pagan/spiritual identity and queerness,” but instead about queer perspectives on magical, occult, and esoteric topics especially, but also possibly the impact of queerness on pagan or spiritual topics (e.g. theology). Further, where and when these topics of paganism and/or spiritual identity and affiliation might be addressed, this is not an anthology about “coming out spirituality” (e.g. the idea that it is okay to be LGBTQ and pagan/Thelemic/Santero/Hellenic/whatever/&c.; “coming out” as ritual/initiation, etc.), nor should essays primarily be about how queerness of whatever sort gives one a better perspective or understanding on energy polarity or gender wholeness within any of these magical/occult/pagan paradigms (e.g. the idea that gay men are more naturally gifted, magical, or shamanically-inclined because they are more in touch with their femininity, etc.). The latter has been done to death already; the former is an important first step in these matters, but as with all Megalithica publications, the intention with this anthology is to go beyond introductory matters whenever possible.

"We are looking for original works of genre fiction (science fiction/fantasy/mystery/romance) that feature a person of color and/or LGBT as the central character. Book-length manuscripts must be at least 250 pages, and short stories cannot be over 100 pages. All manuscripts must be double-spaced, in 12-point font (Times New Roman, Courier, etc) in black text, and must be a Word/Open Office compatible document. We ask that you insert a header with your name and the first two words of the title at the top of each page. Please do not send them as read-only files as that will make any editing more difficult.

We are also accepting poems in traditional and experimental styles with a maximum of 10 pages. The same formatting rules will apply.

Personal and critical essays are also welcome as long as they are within the aforementioned themes. Poetry, essays, and short stories may be subject to inclusion in anthologies depending upon the number of submissions fitting a specific theme.

There will be (approximately) a 6-8 week turnaround time in which submissions will be reviewed and a decision will be made as to whether or not we will be publishing your manuscript. Payment will be dependent upon sales, as each published author will received a percentage of the sales price.

There is no need to submit a query letter, nor do we require you to have an agent, but we do want a brief synopsis of the plot for longer manuscripts. Please send all submissions to verb.noire@gmail.com.

ETA: We will accept works from white authors as long as the central characters are of color and/or LGBT"

DIRECTORS NOTE: Usual warnings, new market, so take care.  A note on the submission call itself - I'm fairly sure they don't mean "and/or LGBT" as that would rather reverse the statement they are trying to make. Query for clarification, perhaps.

Queer Voices Zine from Queers Without Borders blog

Calling All Those with Queer Sensibilities–From CT to Beyond! Queers Without Borders is Going to Print Again and We Need Your Help! In Connecticut (as with most places throughout the world) there is a decided lack of queer voices in media. In Hartford, this often seems doubly the
case.

Queers without Borders is a multi-issue group arguing for a radically different conception of politics—one that does not separate struggles for
sexual dignity from struggles against racism, sexism, class exploitation, and the policing of gender conformity. We house a blog site at http://queerswithoutborders.com/wpmu/ but want to add queer voices to print media (especially in the greater Hartford area) to provide an alternative to the politics-as-usual approach of existing publications geared toward the LGBT community (and beyond!).

With this in mind, we need YOUR help!!! This is a call for submissions to our second print publication, Queer Voices. Reformatting into a ‘zine format, we have focused this issue on personal experience. Send us your stories, poems, comics, etc. (the sky would be the limit, if we believed in such things as “limits”) for print in our second issue of Queer Voices!

We are especially looking for pieces that outline personal experiences with queer identity, politics, theory, and practice. As well, we seek submissions that take note of the intersections between the politics of sexuality, race, class, gender, nation of origin, ability, age, and any host of subjectivities that have been formed into hierarchies in our often messy world.

After all, none of these identities exist independently of the others and to talk of one is to talk of them all (even when ignored, what goes unsaid is often as telling as what is actually articulated)! Submissions should be emailed to queerswithoutborders@gmail.com by March 15th, 2009.

Thank you for your time and submissions! Projects like this cannot exist without the active involvement of many! We need YOU! We need each other!

Yours in solidarity,
Queers without Borders!

October marks GLBT History month (to commemorate the first gay and lesbian marches on Washington in October 1979 and 1987 respectively). During the month of October, as part of our Pink Petal Books Presents series, we would like to release a series of anthologies commemorating stories of GLBT romance. While the heat levels should be very sensual to erotic, stories can be any romance sub-genre (historical encouraged).

Our goal for this anthology project will be to fill four volumes. This means we will need three to four excellently written novellas, representing the best in gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender erotic romance. No previously published work please (though we will look at those stories for our regular release schedule).

Submission Deadline: May 15, decisions by June 1

Electronic Publication: October 2009 (for GLBT History Month), print February 2010

How to submit: Please email your complete manuscript attached in RTF/Word format to meditor@pinkpetalbooks.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Include in the body of the email a word count and brief blurb (one or two paragraphs), along with any relevant publishing history. For more information about us, please read our complete submission guidelines.

http://www.pinkpetalbooks.com/index.php/Submission-Guidelines/

A bit about us:

At Pink Petal Books we believe that love is a beautiful thing. Our “Pink Petal Books Presents” anthology series offers readers a glimpse of the many themes and genres that can be found within romance. Each themed anthology contains three to four 15,000-25,000 word novellas released first as individual ebooks, then published together into one print volume. Heat levels in each story need to start at very sensual and work up to erotic. Language may range from the occasional frank or graphic language to no holds barred.

Payment will be 35% royalty on sales price for ebooks (except stories sold through third party vendors, which will be 45% of net (sales price - vendor cut = net). Print books will be our standard 10% royalty split between the three or four authors in the volume.

Writing Queer Kenya is an anthology of stories by Kenyan LGBTI to be published in December 2009. The book will be edited by: Keguro Macharia and Angus Parkinson

We lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex individuals, in a word, queers, have had the distinct un-pleasure of being told we don’t exist—in official government statements, historical documents, and contemporary statements. Well, we do.

We want Kenyan stories by Kenya-based and Kenya-born queers. About everything. We want writing about the dailyness of our lives, the good, the bad, the weird, the indifferent. If you have lived it, we want to hear about it. We especially want to reach beyond Nairobi, Mombasa, and other cities to all corners of the country. And we know the rest of Kenya, Africa, and the world wants to hear these stories as well.

Formats

We have three distinct formats. Choose what appeals to you.

1. Interviews: Tell us your story. Get in touch with us and we’ll arrange an interview. We value your time and your confidentiality. Not sure you want to meet us directly? We have phones and email and all manner of ways to make this happen.

2. Letters to Kenya: Write (or unearth) a 500-1,000-word letter. To whom? Parents, pastors, the government, best friends, former friends, present lovers, former lovers, the person you really want to tune. Get personal, get intimate. Say what you really want to say!

3. Personal narratives: Write (or unearth) a 2,500-3,000-word narrative about the dailyness of being queer. The high points, low points, the endless plateaus, the quick glances, indrawn breaths of desire, domestic thrills, sexual boredom, beginnings and endings. If you write it, we’ll consider it.

All submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and submitted electronically to queerkenya@gmail.com. If you can’t type, don’t want to, or can’t get hold of an email program that functions, get in touch with us. We can help.

How You Can Contribute

1. Get the word out. Convince your friends with hidden manuscripts or stories that must be shared to un-closet them.
2. Send us encouraging emails. We need your good wishes, your fabulously good wishes.
3. Volunteer time! We need all the help we can get.
4. Take ownership. We’re editing, sure, but these are our collective stories.

Important Dates

April 30, 2009: Deadline to Receive Submissions
June 30, 2009: Selected Contributors Contacted
Publication: December 2009.

Sex with Bite--Vampire Erotica (Title TBA)
Edited by D. L. King
To be published by Cleis Press
Deadline: March 1, 2009
Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the anthology

D. L. King is looking for super-erotic vampire stories

The allure of the vampire... There's no denying this fascination with immortality, with the eternally beautiful, strong and sexy. Creatures who take what they need; stealing the life force from those unlucky enough to cross their paths--or possibly those whose luck leads them to the most thrilling experience of their lives. What makes these lust-filled creatures so irresistible to our kind?

We've seen lots of romantic vampires of late. Those aren't the ones I'm looking for. I want blood quickening, heart pounding, dangerous, intelligent, maddeningly beautiful, hot as hell vampires. I'm not looking for love, or maybe I'm looking for love in all the wrong, bad, scary places. Think of beings whose carnality can't be sated, innocence caught in lust's snare, those who can't help taking a walk on the dark side--or turn the tables. Send me something different; something we haven't seen before, something molten.

This anthology is primarily heterosexual, but I'll consider GLBT stories. Remember, no underage characters, please. Stories should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words, double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman or Courier New. Please indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch and do not include extra lines between paragraphs.

Send your story as a .doc or .rtf attachment and include the title, pseudonym (if applicable), your legal name and mailing address to vampantho@gmail.com. Subject line should read: Submission: TITLE. Please include a 50 to 75-word bio and direct any questions to the same address. Original stories only. You must own all rights to any reprints.

For a charity anthology to benefit the Lambda Legal Fund http://www.lambdalegal.org/

The Lambda Legal fund is currently fighting Prop 8 in an effort to get it overturned by the California Supreme Court.  If you believe in marriage equality and the right of LGBT people to marry the person they love, you can help by submitting a story to the charity anthology, 'I do' now being put together to raise funds in support of the fund.

The anthology (tentatively called "I DO" - is being published by MLR Press http://www.mlrpress.com and will be published using something similar to their boilerplate contact:

http://www.mlrpress.com/download/MLRPressPublishing_Agreement.pdf

We're looking for stories between 1,000 words and 10,000 words long.  M/M, F/F BI and transgender stories are welcome.  There is no strict theme, but we have certain things we do *not* want to see:

No stories which undermine the purpose of the anthology, please – ie, no stories which are about how gay people do not want to get married or do not deserve to get married.  We do not want anything that reinforces negative stereotypes of LGBT people.  We don't want snuff fiction, scat, golden showers, necrophilia or under-age sex.  Because of the potential copyright issues, we don't want fanfiction either.

As long as your story doesn't contain any of those things and comes within the word-count, please do send it to alex@alexbeecroft.com

As long as you possess the copyright for your story and it is not currently under contract to anyone else, we are happy to consider stories which have been published before.

Extra consideration will be given to stories with happy ever afters, or stories which have particular relevance to the issue of marriage equality.

This is for a charity anthology, so you will not get paid.  All profits will go straight to the Lamdba Legal fund.

See this group for thrashing out the fine points:

communities. Finally, this book will introduce new black gay and lesbian writers in addition to introducing new work by more established writers.

Please submit five poems, three short stories or a critical essay on a topic of your choice reflective of your individual identity and aesthetic. Feel free to submit work from all three genres. Documented articles should follow MLA format. Previously published work WILL NOT be accepted. Please mail two hard copies of your submission along with full contact information and a short bio (to be included in anthology)

01 December 2007 @ 10:01 pm
I received an email from Patty G. Henderson regarding her Chilling Tales anthology (GLBT horror flash fiction).

There weren't enough submissions for the book to meet PD Publishing's minimum word count requirement. The anthology's canceled because of it.

The deadline isn't specified in the PD Publishing page, but since I received the email today, I'm guessing that the actual deadline was Dec. 1.

Last Gasp is seeking submissions for an anthology of adult comics, "Best Erotic Comics 2009" (the second in an annual series). The series is intended to showcase the most artistically interesting -- and most sexually arousing -- recent erotic comics, from both the literary comic side of the field and the smut comic side. We believe that the divide between literary comics and adult comics is unfortunate and unnecessary, and we plan to make "Best Erotic Comics" enjoyable both as a literary and artistic exploration of human sexuality... and as a fun dirty book.

Editor Shane Allison is at it again. He's looking for erotic stories on fire men. I want creative, original fire men stories in a variety of settings.
