"First, I'm seeing some really great material coming in. Writers have been touching upon many, many aspects of queerness and telling some cool stories in the process. I think the final book will stunningly imaginative and kind of hot, too. A few weeks ago, I was concerned that I wasn't seeing enough submissions by or about women, but that has balanced out now, so I think we'll have a good variety in the end.  Deadline for fiction submissions is July 15, so any of you who are writers and would look to send me something, please do.  Complete details on it are located on the writer's guidelines/subscriptions page of my blog at www.mbranesf.blogspot.com.

The other good news is that this anthology will be available not just in print and PDF but also in many of the ebook formats. I've gotten some technical assistance of late with doing the file conversions. Already issue #4 of the regular zine is up on Amazon for Kindle and at the MobiPocket store for other devices that can read those kind of files. Issue #5 releases in a few days in all its formats, and has a lot of great new sf in it. Don't forget that I have a deal ($9.95 for the year) for DoorQs. There is a PayPal button for the DoorQ offer in the list of subscription/purchase options on that same page that I mentioned above."

Wrap Me Up - Erotic Holiday Tales
Edited by Eric Summers
Deadline: May 15, 2009
STARbooks Press is going to release its first Winter Holiday-inspired anthology, and you can be a part of it!
Do you like to sit on Santa's lap? Are there eight things you wish you could do to your boyfriend during Hanukah? Does Kwanzaa give you the urge to commune with nature? Or, do you just like to write about people who get horny over the holidays?

There is no limit to the possibilities. Your stories can take place at the North Pole, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, or the Continent of Africa, just to name a few locales. Your characters may be Maccabees, Wise Men, Tribal Elders, Romans, Greeks, or Elves, just to give you a few ideas. Let your imagination roll and think outside the gift-wrapped box, and give us your hottest holiday story. Have fun and give our readers the gift that keeps on giving, so they come back for more.

I am seeking well-written stories that are erotic, not just pornographic. There are no limits to the possibilities or scenarios. All we ask is that writers be creative, have fun, and offer our readers something fresh and new. And, humor is always greatly appreciated! I want well-developed characters and plots, believable and accurate situations (even if it is fantasy or science fiction, it must make sense), and settings, along with internal consistency. All characters must be over 18 years of age.
Feel free to query me about the thinking you may have about a story for this anthology at eric@starbookspress.com.
thanks,
Eric Summers

Submit your query to eric@starbookspress.com in the body of an email - no attachments please. Include a short bio, your name, postal and email addresses and a five-paragraph excerpt of your story. Indicate whether or not your submission has been previously published and, if so, where and when. You don't need to sell your story in the letter; your work will speak for itself. If your query is accepted, I will be in contact with you about submitting the complete work. The end product should be no more than eight pages of single spaced 12 pt. type. Occasionally, novellas are accepted, but they must be exceptional. Be sure to edit and proof your query.
Sloppy or poorly written stories will not be considered, replied to, or acknowledged!!!

MONDO HOMO ART SHOW: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MONDAY MAY 11TH

The Mondo Homo Art Show is upon us again, and this is the OFFICIAL call for work. The title of this year's show is MONDO-POLITICO. We are trying something different this year and asking people to create a work for the show and it's theme. So, please put your best ART FAG foot forward and let's make it really shine this year. The show is about what it means being queer and political, which is broad and open to many interpretations but can also spawn some great work. If you have something you have already created that would fit the theme that is great as well

The show will be at Eyedrum and will open on Thursday May 21st and run through Sunday June 21st. We have the entire back gallery and that is really exciting for us. The ceilings are extremely high and I would really like to see some large pieces to make use of the height in the space.

Please make your submissions digitally to dray.hellonearth@comcast.net. You should submit a jpeg or tiff with a resolution of 300 ppi at about 8" x 10". Please include your name, title, media and dimensions with each piece submitted. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MONDAY MAY 11TH. Notification of selections will be made on Friday May 15th and we will need your pieces in hand no later than Monday May 17th.

It is going to be a great show and festival this year and I am very excited to be doing it again and I am looking forward to seeing your work. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email me. Thank you.

Wilde Oats celebrates gay and bisexual fiction.
It embraces the joys and agonies of life for gay and bisexual men,
from hard gritty realism to wild flights of romantic fantasy.

http://www.wildeoats.com/ComingIssues

August: Pic4Fic

What is the hidden story behind this illustration?(See above link)  In Pic4Fic one of the Wilde Oats artists will provide a thought provoking and teasing image to stir the imagination of writers.  We challenge writers to send us a story using this illustration, by Wilde Oats artist Gormax, as a prompt, for the next (August) issue.  We will print all accepted stories -- the more, the better.

December: Gays and Marriage

Wilde Oats plans to feature a themed issue every December. As our first theme we have chosen marriage. Not just gay marriage, but any story about how gay men are affected by the institution of marriage – gays happy or unhappy in their heterosexual marriages, gays under pressure to marry, married couples with gay children or in-laws, etc. The field is wide open so start thinking about your story submission now. The deadline for submissions will be early October. While stories and articles about marriage will be given priority, we welcome submissions on other subjects as well. However, if you write about something else we will wait until the deadline before making our final selection, publish those we have room for in the order we received them, and hold the others we accept in reserve for our April issue.

Edited by Eric Summers
Deadline: March 15, 2009

The response to "Unmasked: Erotic Tales of Gay Superheroes" was so positive that we have decided to publish a sequel.

For those who wish to contribute for the first time, we are looking for superheroes that are original and not cliché, and a sexy sidekick is always welcome! Boys Getting Ahead

Edited by Mickey Erlach
Deadline October 15 2009

Everyone has heard of the casting couch, but did you know it stretches far beyond Hollywood? Many a stud has used his “talents” to get ahead, whether in an office, a loading dock, a store, or especially in politics. After all, to get ahead in life, you sometimes have to take it like a man, or give as good as you get.

BOYS GETTING AHEAD is about those ambitious young men, who will do what it takes as often as necessary to grab the brass ring or at least wear it. There are no limits to what some of these guys will do. If the boss wants it rough, that’s cool. If the boss wants romance, that’s perfectly acceptable. And, if the boss wants to throw you to the curb and treat you like a whore, that’s the chance you take. Who said having a successful life was going to be easy?

There you are in the locker room after a hard practice, watching your teammates strip and head to the open shower room, and suddenly the practice isn’t the only thing that is hard. Or, during wrestling practice, you are paired up with the best built, most handsome guy on the team, whose singlet is stretched beyond its limits everywhere possible. You are the quarterback and the new center has the hottest butt you’ve ever seen, and now he is bent over in front of you with your hands against his crotch, ready to hike the ball. What do you do? What have you done? What do you regret not doing?

I LIKE IT LIKE THAT: TRUE TALES OF GAY DESIRE
edited by Richard Labonté and Lawrence Schimel
Arsenal Pulp Press, Fall 2009

For an anthology about gay sexual desire, we are looking for short personal essays—mini-memoirs, as it were—about your erotic experiences. Your essays can focus on a single significant encounter or on a moment that extends into a lifetime; they can describe the intensity of a first-time experience or the ephemera of emotional desire that never leads to physical pleasure. We want to know what turns you on; we want to know what turns us on collectively as gay men; we want the erotics of queer life to be used as a launching point for exploring the queer condition; we want essays exploring all the diverse manifestations of desire between and among men.

We want intelligent writing about desire and sex. We don’t just want essays about how many inches and how many times and how many positions—we’re more interested in what sex means for you: what you like to do, but also why you like to do it. We want contributors to reach into their memories to tell true tales about personal erotic space— we don’t want just the mainstream porn imagery that by default dominates our cultural (and therefore personal) references. We want hot, but we also want smart. We want passion, but we also want philosophy. We want the urgency of desire, but we also want reflections on desire.

Submission instructions:
1) Title the file with author's last name and story title: Surname-Title.doc
2) Include your name, your mailing address, your email address, and a bio WITHIN the
.doc file with your essay, as submissions will be separated from emails to be read.
3) Submit your work by email, as an attachment in .doc format, to
truetalesofgaydesire@gmail.com
Length: approximately 1000-3000 words
Deadline: Feb 1, 2009.
Payment: a small honorarium and one copy of the book will be paid.

Pretty Boys and Roughnecks
Edited by Mickey Erlach

Deadline: February 15, 2009

Pretty boys having fun with roughnecks may sound cliché, and you may envision scenes of men finding themselves in bars or parts of town where they normally wouldn't venture; however, we want to you to add a new twist to this often too common scenario in gay sexual encounters.

Does the pretty boy have to be submissive, young, and rich? Are they always pretty or are they sometimes rough? Does the roughneck have to be uncultured and happy in a double-wide? Are they always rough or are they sometimes pretty?

SPECIAL FORCES: GAY MILITARY EROTICA, a newly scheduled anthology for Cleis Press.
Deadline: Oct. 1, 2008.

"Wherever a man slides into his BDU's and shoulders an M16, there's another man looking to take both off him, and I want to hear about it. I'm looking for short, (under 6,000 words) scorching, sexually charged stories of military men getting down. But let's notch it up a little. Let's sidestep old stories of drill sergeant and grunt, and mine the tension of conflict. Get some bombs falling. Show me some release from the agony of a firefight. Raise the stakes, and explore the rough dynamics of opposing forces. Imagine past Americentrism, to unearth the stories exploding around the globe. Give me the nitty gritty of sand, and blood, and fatigue. Give me the moment when the sweaty grimy uniforms come off, and men lost in the extremes of the human condition find a moment of relief and freedom with one another, even if they will be enemies one hour later. Give me the why, and the
why not, as well as the how. Yeah, I definitely want good smokin' mansex, but I also want longing, conflict, tension, release. You know, the conventions of good writing. Okay. That is all. Dismissed."

Deadline: Oct. 1, 2008.
Email submissions to Dan Cullinane at dan_cullinane@yahoo.com.

Please put "SPECIAL FORCES" in the subject line. Original stories only.

Payment: Honorarium plus two copies of published book.

Don Juan and Men
stories of lust and seduction
Edited by Kyle Stone
Deadline: 30th September 2008

The story of Don Juan is a popular one and has appeared in many guises throughout literary and musical history. The Spanish Don with his single minded drive to seduce, conquer and desert those who fall under his spell, fascinates us all. He is a man of power, a man who goes against the rules, a cynic with devastating charm. But the stories in this anthology will explore a side of the Don that has not been examined before. What if Don Juan were gay?

The kind of stories I'm looking for can be set in any place, in any time period, even the future. They can explore any dynamic, make the seductive one older... younger... looking back or far ahead into a future we can barely imagine. The content of the story can be romantic, darkly gothic, or modern and stark; the erotic element can range from subtle to very explicit S&M. Always the focus of the story, as with the Don himself, is on the process and psychology of seduction, in other words, on the hunt. The majority will be original stories, with no more than three reprints allowed. I expect to have from twelve to eighteen stories, running from 3000 to a maximum of 8,000 words. Deadline: September 30.

I hope to have about half the stories by invitation to writers of all sorts of genres, with plenty of room for an open call. I always enjoy discovering new voices (to me) and know the thrill of giving a new writer a first publication.

Needless to say this is a small press publication, the pay an honorarium. What we do for love... :)

Lori Perkins is going to be editing an anthology called "Men in Shorts" for www.ravenousromance.com. I can't get the site to work, so I hope you have better luck.
Deadline: 24 August 2008

"send me stories at lperkinsagencyATyahooDOTcom.

I'm also going to be editing MEN IN SHORTS for them. That's an anthology about hot guys in shorts from the cute mailman to the basketball player to the bike messenger and that surfer dude. I am hoping you get the gist.

I'm looking for stories between 1000 and 5000 words. Be creative. These stories can be from either a man or women's perspective, gay, straight, etc.

I'm working with a new epublisher and they've begged for this book, so I'm going to let them have it. They'll pay $1 a page and then a 38% royalty. They want to publish in December, so I need the stories in a month (by August 24). No previously published stories. The stories have to be sexual and explicit, but they should also be fun."

Normal caveats apply - it's a new publisher so look before you leap.

Editor Joseph R.G. DeMarco will be reading for a forthcoming Lethe Press gay men's anthology tentatively entitled
A Study in Lavender: Queering Holmes.
Submissions will be read from January 1, 2009 through March 30, 2009

All stories must be both gay-themed and mysteries set in the Holmes mythos, however the character of Sherlock Holmes need not be the focus or even present.

Writers must do their homework to ensure that the stories are historically accurate if taking place in the Holmes era (though tales can be set later than the Victorian era, such as in the Golden Age of Hollywood during the filming of a Holmes movie or other appropriately familiar settings).

Before you submit, please query the editor with a synopsis of your story and the content, specifically, which characters are being queered.

Word Count: Submissions should be between 1,000 words and 8,000 words. Longer works may be considered but require advance permission from the editor.

Payment: 2 cents a word, of course, plus 2 copies of the book.

Submissions will be read from January 1, 2009 through March 30, 2009. Queries/Submissions to: holmesanthology@gmail.com

No electronic submissions will be accepted EXCEPT in the case of writers living outside of the United States.

A street address for submissions will be provided once you send an email query with the required synopsis, etc. If you would like to have your submission returned, please send a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.

Electronic copies will be required for submissions accepted for publication.

Email queries and other communication may be made to holmesanthology@gmail.com

Editor Chip Capelli will be reading for a forthcoming Lethe Press gay men’s erotica anthology tentatively entitled Gemini: Twice A Man's Pleasure.
Submissions will be read from September 2, 2008 through January 2, 2009

Stories should be engaging first and foremost. As part of a new Zodiac-inspired line of gay erotica, all submissions must address a theme inspired by the specific sign: in this case, Gemini.

Appropriate subjects and themes would be: twins (fraternal or identical), brothers, mirrors, and pairings and couples. A sculptor creating a statue would also be apt as its one man regarding another. Be creative. Writers are encouraged to sprinkle throughout their story some of the associations (such as birthstones and purported psychological traits) attributed to Geminis.

Please depict acts of safer sex only - unless the story is obviously set before the AIDS crisis.

Word Count: Submissions should be no less than 2,000 words (yes, it’s a theme) and no longer than 6,000 words.

Payment: 2 cents a word, of course, to a maximum of $100, plus 2 copies of the book. Additionally, the publisher will choose one author, who in his opinion crafted the best story, to will receive a copy of all forthcoming volumes, 12 in all, in this series.

Submissions will be read from September 2, 2008 through January 2, 2009.

Gemini

PO Box 18070

Philadelphia PA 19147-0070

If you would like to have your submission returned, please send a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.  Electronic copies will be required for submissions accepted for publication.   No electronic submissions will be accepted EXCEPT in the case of writers living outside of the United States.

Please query editor regarding reprinted stories.

22 July 2008 @ 05:46 pm
Deadlines: variable

ManLoveRomance Press (MLR) is a U.S.-based royalty-paying print publisher of gay and m/m erotic fiction. MLR is launching its Esprit de Corps series, projected to be quarterly releases of military and veterans stories. The first entry, Esprit de Corps, an anthology, releases November 2008. We are seeking submissions for the series which will include both novel-length titles and anthologies.

Dedication: This series is dedicated to those gay men who by not telling continue to serve our country with pride and honor. To those gay men who
found the strength to tell and the courage to hold their heads high while being discharged in disgrace. To those gay men who have sacrificed their lives to maintain our freedoms while sacrificing their freedom to be heard.

/Till we are judged for the honor and strength of our character and not by the prejudice and weakness of others...we wish you Fair Seas, Following Winds, Safe Harbor & Silent Running. (Courtesy of RM2(SS) Dick D.)/

Story: Acceptable manuscripts are well written gay or m/m romances, with plots driven by distinctive characterization, in which the military/veterans element has a strong presence in both setting and plot. The manuscript must include erotic content that furthers character development or plot. The author’s voice is marked by a sense of authenticity in both the romance and the military setting. Period may behistorical, contemporary, or futuristic. We are particularly interested in seeing a novel that incorporates strong themes relating to the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, but we certainly want to read the work of authors who write on other subjects within the military/veterans theme.

See our submissions guidelines at http://www.mlrpress.com/Employment.php.

Publication dates/Deadlines: The projected publication dates for each successive title in the series are President’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day. The time of submission is immaterial unless the author believes that the story has a particularly strong relevance to one of those four releases dates. Deadline 1 May 2008

What went on in Sin City that leads to the blond gassing up his Jeep in "Leaving Las Vegas"? Who is the hot executive texting from his hotel in "Business Trip" and what will happen next? What erotic adventure is "Diablo" about to engage in?

People have told me that pondering these questions is one of the things they enjoy about my work. I often share a few of the thoughts that were going through my head when I created the piece. But now, it's your turn.

I'm inviting all would be writers (amateurs to professionals) to come up with short stories based on my illustrations.

If I get enough fabulous submissions, (and I predict I will) my plan is to put together a collection of the best and publish a book of short stories based on my artwork!
  • Works can be erotic, romantic, fantasy, even comedic.
  • Strive to incorporate the tone and moment of the illustration somewhere into your story.
  • Base your story on any* illustration in my online gallery.
  • Strive for between 2,500 and 7,500 words long, but that is not carved in stone.
  • Stories must be your own original creation.
  • Multiple entries are welcome.
  • Submit stories as a Microsoft Word or rich text format file via email to 1000words@breyette.com.
  • The call for submissions will end May 1, 2008.
So get out those quills and dust off those keyboards!

All authors will retain copyrights to their stories. All authors will be credited in the book and will receive one complimentary copy per story published in the book. Writers whose stories are published in the book will receive a special "authors" print of the artwork from which the story is based. Authors will have approval on any edits made to their work. Final selection of stories is up to Michael Breyette. The decision to proceed with publication based upon the quantity and quality of short stories submitted is also at Michael Breyette's discretion. Prior to publication a licensing agreement will be provided and must be signed and returned in order to be included in the book.

* Exceptions are "Nick of Time" and "Cross Country"
