I know some thought they messed with the purity of the show, etc., but I was always a BIG fan of the music montages that HLOTS used (I was also stoked that the show's first real montage featured Seal's "Killer," as Seal was, and still is to some degree, one of my favorite artists). I have two "what-if" type questions along these lines:

1.) Say you had to create a music montage advertising the show in general, kind of like an advertisement similar to the ones that used to be shown on Court TV(ahhhh....those were the days; in one week, CTV would better promote HLOTS than NBC did in seven years). Maybe you're doing a presentation for a new network or something and trying to convince them to pick up the reruns. What song would you use to put over the clips? My pick would be "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters. The line "There goes my hero / He's ordinary" fits so perfectly, I think...plus, it's a powerful song to go along with a powerful show.

2.) Were there any montages you remember that you'd wished were set to songs other than the ones the producers chose? What song would you have used instead?

Yay, we're getting posts. . .posts are good.

A good subject to discuss with Homicide always seems to be the music. . .

It's a strange thing to talk about now, because it certainly seems like EVERY show now uses thematic musical montages at the end of episodes. And honestly, by the last couple seasons of H, that was getting a little predictable even there. But to think about how breathtaking it was the first time I saw "Hurt" at the end of "A Model Citizen," or "What a Good Boy" at the end of "Hate Crimes." Plus the tunes that were used during the episodes, to cover other kinds of montages.
