Overnight Stop in Ohio
Me and Homie (my horse) are moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming at the end of the month. I'm trying to plan an overnight stop in Jackson, Ohio on the way to see my dad's side of the family whom I haven't seen in three years. It's a 15 hour drive from our house in Maine so it'll be the perfect time to stop for some sleep.

I already have a couple of other overnight stops planned where we'll be staying at a horse hotel but for this stop, I'm trying to just find a barn that I can toss my horse in for the night since I will be staying in my Grandparent's house.

Anyways, my Grandparents live in Jackson, Ohio and I'm looking to rent a stall for a night. I'd like to be able to toss him out in a pasture for a little while to stretch his legs but he can not stay turned out overnight. He does not do well unless he's stalled at night. I figured I would post here and see if anyone knew of any boarding facilities or even a private barn that might be interested in renting me a stall.

Thanks!

ETA: Jackson, OH in Jackson County - sorry, didn't realize there was more than one!!!

Morgans, anyone?
So it's been a couple of weeks...time for another fugly morgan update!  See my most recent post here:
http://www.livejournal.com/editjournal.bml?journal=equestrian&itemid=5078023

I was up in Northern BC for a week, and did a lot of marketing up there.  We'll see if it pans out.
Here on the Island I have had a ton of interest, and one family who is very serious about buying Vancouver (ie. Chase).  Unfortunately I don't think it will work out.

Under the next cut is some info on the origins of the farm's particular line, which I found by emailing some people and looking around on-line.

Of course, I also have pictures of the farm's current horses.  We took some conformation shots for sale ads and there are also some of us working the various horses.  They are all looking rather nice and not at all fugly in their shiney summer coats.

That's it!

edited several times for clarity and spelling.

Someone enlighten me
Ok, I haven't been in the horse market for a very, very long time. But now and again I like to play the 'I just won Tattslotto and can have ANY horses I want in this magazine/website' game. Just recently I started noticing everyone seems to put putting in the term 'no dirt' next to their horse, like 'easy to catch' or any of the usual catch phrases. What the heck? What does that mean? That the horse hasn't been kept on dirt? That they groomed it REAL good? :-D

It's been a while, so I thought I'd post some new photos of Surf Guitar -- 14yo OTTB...who's bigger than I thought! We pulled out an offical stick, and he's definitely 18hh! Most of these are from our last 2 novice HTs...since these were taken, we've successfully moved up to Training!

Trainer Saddles- are they any good?
Hi everyone- I have a question about saddles.
Okay, so I've had by 15.2hh TB/ARP mare for a few weeks now and I've been riding her in my Wintec 2000 wide AP with a riser pad since then, which has worked really well.
However, the saddle is already owned by  Mr. Haffypants (who resembles a box and therefore needs a super wide saddle) and Lexie needs one of her own.
A friend of mine suggested her two year old Trainer's Spirit saddle. It's a lovely soft leather AP/Jumping saddle, 17.5 inches with a wide tree and it fits my mare well without using a riser pad or anything.
My question is: This saddle is being offered to me in good condition for $800AUD (in USD that would be ...  $770) with stirrups and girth included- is this a good deal?
I've got no experience with Trainer saddles  or what they  are worth.  If anyone has experience with this  type of saddle could you please tell what you  think of  them, how much they usually sell for and whether $800 is a reasonable price for a two year old saddle.
Thank you in advance for your help :-)

Boot Care
So I've just bought my first brand new pair of tall boots (the ones I had as a kid were all hand-me-downs). I was wondering, how do you guys clean them? I don't want to use water but want to make sure that whatever cleaner I use is safe for boot leather and not just tack.

Also, can I condition them? I've known people who have had the leather around the ankles break once the leather wrinkled there and became old. What are your preferences for making them soften up?

Thanks for any help you could give me :)
