Hmmm..


I understand the sentiment behind wanting to turn the community around, but it's getting rather hypocritical. Some of the people who didn't like the commenters and how things were are now pointing fingers and getting high and mighty -- isn't that exactly what the whole thing was trying to stop?

As much hostility (in the original posts, no less) with finger pointing now as before.

Actually, it's in teh past 24 hours, it seems to me that this is a topic for everyone to get all high and mighty on and act holier then thou.

We need to just drop it and keep it in the back of our minds when we're posting replies.

I personally think that if people have to read through stuff they don't agree with, they can contrast it. At least before they start attacking...

No one has really started attacking, though. I made the post to try to bring to light how rude and annoying this whole thing is. In no way am I trying to act holier than thou. I just don't think it's right to pick on people for things you see "wrong" when they have the choice to do them however they please. And, I'm also not being a cry baby and saying that these comments are so horrible and are making me cry at night and why can't we all go hug some trees? No, definitely not like that.

But I will stand up for other people. It's obvious that many people don't post because they don't want to get ripped apart. And all I was really saying was to give other members respect. Nothing more. It isn't necessary to find fault with every possible picture or post.

I agree with [info]remix22. Just drop it and let it be a reminder in the back of our minds when we're leaving comments.

Also, the tone of the post is much like that of some comments [at least in my interpertations - which usually vary because of the whole internet aspect] left. It was meant to sound a bit snobbish, annoying and mean, because those are exactly how the comments come off. And the rest of it is anger at the people who have no respect for others and just want to continually "show off" what they "know."

I am not intending to sound picky or high and mighty... but I find it impossible to say that things are supposed to sound snobbish, annoying and mean because of how you have perceived it.

Keep in mind that this is the internet and since you are just reading text you can't always perceive the person's tone of voice, or how they are trying to come across.

I personally think that people should speak their mind more often... whether they are going to criticize someone or praise someone, they should say what they think. What's the point in everyone agreeing? So someone has a different opinion than someone else. Get over it.

I just wish people would be more open to other people's opinions. You really can have your own opinion without having to jump down someone else's throat because they also have their own... and if you're going to argue about something, at least do so intelligently.

Yeah, I know it's the internet and people's perception of tones and such are misconstrewed. Hence the above statement. I'm not saying we should repress our statements or opinions. But I do</i> think that people could find better ways to say things.

I am open to peoples opinions by all means. I'm just not open for people unnecessarily criticizing or being rude. I don't see the point. I definitely speak my mind when I feel something needs to be said, but I do so in a respectable manner. I don't jump down people's throats when leaving comments, unlike a lot of people here.

There are so, so many great examples of this in previous posts.
