Autumn Contest 2008 – Fanart Contest

This year’s Autumn Contest is a fanart contest based on his music, and since this is our first Autumn Contest, we think it’s only fitting that we choose his first album, MARS, for this year’s theme!

Participants are required to choose a song, or a line from any song in the album, and present it in a drawing. You are free to interpret the lyrics or music any way you want to, and turn it into a visual image. For example, you can submit a picture of a fancy vanilla ice-cream and say that you’ve been inspired by the song “vanilla”. (I can assure you though that it will be a very bad idea to do so!)

We are offering attractive prizes for the winners of the contest, so be sure not to miss it! This is also a good chance for participants to rack up points for our PAS, as we will be awarding extra points for participants. (If you haven’t read about our new points accumulation system, go here.)

Specifications

Resolution: 300 dpi (We would appreciate it if you refrain from sending us files bigger than 5MB.)
Participants must send in a 400px wide size version AND a 100x100x72dpi thumbnail of their work.
Submit a written explanation of your work, which must not be longer than 500 words, and include the following points:
- The reason why you chose the song or lyrics
- How your work relates to the song or the lyrics
  This is simply to help us understand your work more and you will not be judged based on what you wrote, so please do not worry about it too much and focus more on the art work. Something simple and to the point will be adequate.

Rules and Regulations

All entries must be related to one of the works in MARS album.
Both digital and traditional (hand-drawn) art works are acceptable.
No photo manipulations allowed.
Each person is limited to one entry.

Judging

The contest will be judged by the staff of EnY. All the names of participants will be screened to ensure a fair and accurate judging. You will be judged based on the ORIGINALITY of the work; the overall DESIGN; and how good the TECHNIQUE is. We will also take into account how well the lyrics/song has been represented in your work.

Submissions and Deadline

All submissions must be sent in before 26 Oct (Sunday) midnight, Japan time, to be eligible for the contest.
All submissions are to be posted on LJ, which will be screened. Those without LJ accounts can send their entries to Japonais@eiennoyume.com
Results will be posted on 31 Oct (Friday) on our LJ community as well as our website.

Prizes

First Prize: Kenshin Festival ’08 poster and keychain (choose from red or blue)
2nd place: $10 gift certificate (choose from YesAsia, Amazon Japan, or HMV Japan)
3rd place: $5 gift certificate (choose from Amazon Japan or HMV Japan.)
20 points will be awarded to everyone who participated in the contest. (For more details on our points system PAS, please view here)
An additional 10 points will be awarded to the top 5 entries.

One year anniversary

EnY is proud to present our new PAS system, as part of our one year anniversary celebration! ^^ This is how it works~

From this month on, our site will be hosting games, events and contests with varying themes every month. Members or participants of PAS can earn points by participating in the games and events or contributing contents to our website. They can then use those points to trade for Gackt goods and merchandises such as CDs, DVDs, books, etc. (You can check our inventory for the list of items to trade here) Some rare items, like concert goods, will be included in the list every now and then, so do check back regularly to see what new items we have! Currently we have the Kenshin Festival 2008 poster and keychains on our list, but there is very limited stock so you might want to hurry up~ We will try as much as possible to rotate the themes to include both artsy stuff and non-art stuff, so that more people can participate in this new program. ^^

If you'd like to find out more about the new PAS and Contest section, just hop over to our website~ japonais, our latest addition to the staff, is in charge of the contests, while I'm in charge of keeping track of everybody's points. ^^ So you might want to start preparing those bribes for us. XD Just kidding!

And as a special bonus to start this system off, we have decided to award 10 points to all participants of our Spring Contest 2008!! So congratulations to the 16 of you who participated in our last Spring Contest in April. :D

We'll be announcing our annual Autumn Contest 2008 and September's theme for PAS soon, so be sure not to miss them! There are lots of opportunities for you to rack up points, and to win some great prizes as well~~!

There are also some new changes to the site. We've added some new features, like a new site update bar, and if you work through our buttons, you'd notice that we have drop-down menus as well now. The entire site contents has been rearranged to make the site easier to navigate and more user-friendly too. Spring contest - Revised Result

There was a problem with one of the questions (#50 How many Gackt posters were there by Kawaguchi Autorace?) we had on the contest and we have decided to make that question void. Pixiezdust has pointed out that 2 quo cards were counted in the answer we had. We know that some posters were released as quo cards, but as we couldn't be one hundred percent certain that those 2 cards were released as posters, not could we say for sure that they weren't, we have decided to make this question void. All points awarded to this question have been deducted.

We have also taken out the extra 5 points we awarded Pixiezdust for her trivia question because it was from a rather rare, non-English source which we have never seen before. We should have specified what kind of questions are allowed and which ones aren't and we are sorry about that.

After recalculatting the points, here are the top three winners once again:

We are very sorry about the delay in announcing the result. ^^; It was supposed to be posted yesterday, but there was some error. We will post the result and the answers to the quiz on the website as soon as we can (probably within the next 24 hours). I am sure most of you have read the details regarding the contest posted on our Eien no Yume website, so I will be brief.

The deadline of the contest is Sunday night at 23:59 pm (Japan time). Remember that all entries posted after the deadline will be disregarded, so make sure that you post your answers in time! Corrections/changes/edits to your answers are of course allowed, provided they are made before the deadline is up. Simply leave a comment and say that you’d like to change the answer to question xxx to “[insert answer]”.

The points awarded to each question are written beside it. The ones with (3 x 2 = 6) usually mean that more than one answer is required. (In this case, there are two answers and 3 points are awarded for each answer.) There are 53 questions in total and the highest possible score is 155 (150 + 5 extra points). The person with the highest total score wins. ^^ We will announce the result next Wednesday, April 31st.

For those of you without LJ accounts, don’t forget to write your name/nickname and email address so that we can identify you! Anonymous answers with no name and email address will be ignored. Since all answers are screened automatically, I am afraid that those without an LJ account will not be able to view their answers/comments once it has been posted.
