This isn't surprising considering that some of the biggest companies are the ones that are technology based. Do you think a company like Microsoft or Intel would have been made by a business major?

Yay, engineers!

I think it has something to do with being able to understand and control complex systems (although many lack the needed social skills). However, this doesn't say that a lot of engineers become CEOs, it just says that many people who succeed as CEOs use engineering skills to get there.

And everyone knows software engineers aren't real engineers anyway :-P

Note that engineering majors are all grouped together (and I'd wager that Math/CS/Physics majors are included) whereas business majors are split between Business Administration, Economics, and Accounting.

Well, in my class of chemical engineers, there are just over 100 of us. But there are huge classes of ME's and CE's and the like.

You can major in engineering in general where as there is no major ((that i know of, I could be wrong and if so I apologise for my ignorance))that combines business admin, economics, and accounting.
Also, like rampantbaboon stated, there are many more students in business related fields than there are in engineering fields.
I wonder what engineering field had the highest percent. Anyone have any ideas?
