If energy is energy ...is there a light and dark? can you have and evil energy and a good? Or is it simply the person wielding the power? These are questions that have come up and I am curious.

I believe that it's the person doing the wielding, more than the energy itself, but my experience is somewhat limited.

'Good' and 'evil' are very subjective measures...I label things as both according to my own values, but I recognise that others have very different criteria by which to judge. There are any number of ways to slice it, but your own conscience is generally a pretty good place to start :)

in the energetic practice that is my focus, there are several classifications for types of energy, depending on how they manifest action, however it is a basic principle that the classifications refer to the movements of the energy, and not the energy itself, as energy itself is hard to say anything definite about without contradiction.
There is no "good" and "evil" energy, as these concepts are primarily a result of judeo-christian moral systems, and tend to refer to social preference than anything inherent in nature. they are a mental construct to classify the broad range of possible experiences into those which we are attracted to and those that we spurn.
having said that, it must be remembered that energy is susceptible to intent, and sometimes the intent is to harm, while other times the intent is to heal. developing your energy in a certain manner may make you more sensative to the pain of other beings (compassion) which may obliterate your desire to use harmful intention, but there are times when the most compassionate thing one can do is to harm. pain can be a potent teacher.
as for light and dark: in the chinese system of energetics, the primary classification of energy is to divide it into Yin and Yang. The classic example that leads to understanding of these concepts is the mountain that has sun shining on one side and shade on the other. The Yang side is hot, light, active, fiery, and male, while the Yin side is cool, dark, solid, female, and the substance through which the yang achieves its action.
they are mutually dependant.
The problem is that most societies on earth today have made centuries of effort towards the suppression of the Yin element. This is symptomatic/causitive of imbalance. The Yin energy can be quite eerie, and through cultural ignorance, has come to be associated with the sinister (a word with more than one meaning).
another classification for types of energy is 'stagnant' and 'deficient' (or 'jitsu' and 'kyo' respectively in japanese). this is based on the assumption that energy is constantly moving and circulating. when it's movement is hindered, stagnancy results, which will also manifest deficiency downstream.
generally, the term "bad energy" is used to justify our dislike of certain people or situations. They contain a frequency of energy that we are uncomfortable with (due to our own social imprinting) and it is easier to blame the other as having "bad energy" than it is to take responsibility for our reactions to those energies. This sort of thinking is a hinderance on a search for truth, where all phenomena must be interpreted through internal factors first to avoid projection and transferrence of our personal hang-ups on the formless potential of life.
hope that helps.
rant over.

I too believe as much but I had to ask. To me energy is energy it has different flavors for lack of a better term and different frequencies. But I had not the words to answer with so thank you for them.

i believe that all natural energy is grey coloured(not actually, but i am using it to explain), and depending on who is using it and manipulating it, can pull out the black or white parts to do their bidding. even tho they arent those colours...in fact i rarely see white or black colours, but i just needed to use those to say what i wanted to.

I believe that energy is colourless, but the intent that goes into using the energy is what taints it.
When someone does something for almost purely good and helpful reasons, you can feel the difference between someone doing exactly the same actions for their own selfish reasons.

Yes there is white and black energy bUT they are both good, just whatyou so calld "feed off of" and yes it has to deal with the person. ALSO there is grey ebergy, the inbetween of them both and all.
But different ppl feed off or rather have black or white or even grey energy and some ppl they are happy with dark energy and some are derpressed though they have white energy, it depends on the purpose for what they will use it for, good or bad.
However, if they know HOW to useit is a different subject all togther.
