In my search for reference images, I found the motherlode of Geekdom. Behold, I give thee Eternal Image. Whose front page doesn't even hint at being a company which specializes in "passionate" caskets, like the Star Trek casket and urn. No, it looked like a vacation travel agency. There is an umbrella stuck in the beach sand. Then, on second blink, it looked like a sleek business management course...in Sandals, Jamaica. Then I realized there were caskets.

You can imagine my bemusement. There was much bemusing.

Of course, you have to check out the very (very very very) detailed history of the casket industry at the Casket and Funeral Supply Association of America. There's even a graph. I now know more than I ever thought I ~~needed to know~~ ~~wanted to know~~ knew about caskets. ("Casket" being the classier name for "coffin." Or, you know, whatever.)

Oh, and I added a Farting Unicorn button onto the EoW CafePress store.

So a few things this week:
1. NO bashing Bela or Ruby if they appear in the strip. This community only believes silliness. I will delete such comments I deem to be of the trolling type.
2. Notice the font change? YAY to beautiful new comic font!

Ah, caffeine. Shining like the holy grail in a fearful world.

It was really fun to do something different in the comic this week: the realistic/creepy painting in the first panel was a lot of fun to create. The "Sam" creature (I swear, the Photoshop layer is called that) is based off these illustrations in a children's ghost story book I remember as a kid. My friend Kree and I tried to remember who did it, as the pencil drawings always creeped us the F out. ~~I'll figure out the illustrator some day.~~ Due to the power of the Internets and the wisdom of crowds, it is Stephen Gammell who illustrated those stories for the "Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark" series which traumatized me as a child. Thanks to frodolives and subsequent commentors who gave me that info!

And intestines spilling out of a slashed gut is always a hoot.

Very tired right now.

Late because of:
1. Research paper;
2. Multiple panels + Impala;
3. General not-feeling-funny-ness after the finale.

But, yes, at least we don't suffer the long road trips with the Winchesters. We get T.V. magic ( = instantaneous arrival).

Anyhoo, even though we here at the Encyclopedia (and by "we," we mean the royal we) are focused on irreverent fun and shallowness...Dean Winchester's Swan Song.

I've been on a survival horror game kick lately. Finished Condemned 2, and cannot get through Silent Hill 4: The Room, for the life of me. WHY NOT? I'm piss-pants afraid of this game. Just look.

I scream and run around and jump and generally resemble a chicken with its head cut off. I cannot keep a coherent thought in my head long enough to do something logical like switch weapons. I'm just all like: FUCKITSAGHOSTHANGINGTHEREALLLIMPANDSTARINGATMETJgr9w905t4uh jb5rejrfdk.

I just run. A lot. Because you CANNOT KILL THE GHOSTS.

But I am really determined to get through a Silent Hill game. Because, next to Fatal Frame, they are the creepiest games, or media, period.

W00t for the Creation Con this weekend. Hope our boys won't be too tired, or the fan questions too dumb/embarrassing!

And announcing a (sort-of) extension of the EoW...

I am currently in production of a EoW point-and-click adventure game for the web along with two programmers. Our EoW boys will be hunting down supernatural evil in Flash-game form, with you leading them through environments, picking up clues, investigating and blasting shit away! Our first "episode" act (i.e., act #1 of self-contained hunt storyline) is 20% complete or so: it's just animating walk cycles is a Bitch. (And, as I indicated before, I am the only artist.) The animation is the tough, long labor. On the plus side of that, I have been noticing how the boys walk. And Jensen is very bulldoggy. If anyone remembers episodes other than "Skin" and "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" that has a full-body shot of the boys walking for at least one cycle, I will appreciate it.

This project may take awhile, but it is going nicely. We have tons of neat little ideas, like the inventory bar at the bottom being a torn-off piece of paper, with the inventory items being drawn in...very John's Journal-esque. We just need to get our heads on straight with a storyline. *-_-

I always wondered why the towel is a wee bit too small for Sam in "Hell House." It's the little fan-elves, like Brownies, that run around replacing them.

This is dedicated to my friend Jenna, who prodded me to do this topic last Friday as we sat at The Cheesecake Factory at the top of Macy's in San Francisco. I also related the whole plot to "Mystery Spot" to her to catch her up, probably scaring that couple behind us with my (1) volume (i.e. squee) and (2) enthusiasm (i.e. squee).

This week's comic is late because of my going to the Game Developer's Conference at San Francisco this last week, trying to pry open a job. Me lugging around my demo reel, passing out business cards like crazy, and basically saturated in that lovely state of awkwardness which is breaking the ice, walking up to a stranger and asking for a job. I'm proud of how comfortable I sounded!

The "Extra-Large Baby Harness" is bowtrunckle's idea, from her post "20 Things About Supernatural I Hold to Be My Own Personal Canon" (part I, number 7). I willfully ~~steal~~ am inspired by her words.

I am pleased to exclusively announce something to the Livejournal community. I do post links back to this from other forums, and post on my Deviantart page, but I'm placing it here. At the end of March there will be a special announcement I will be making, concerning an extension of the Encyclopedia of Weirdness universe. I am really horrible at hinting, but stay tuned for that little gem.
