Please ask questions here and not in ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} emersoncollege since it takes up a lot of space, and a lot of patience.QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 1. My qualifications are this! Will I get in? Well, the average SAT score is 1213 and the average ACT is 26. The average GPA is 3.51. If you're better than these statistics, you're right in the middle! You've got a good shot, my friend. 2. Which dorm is the best? All the dorms are awesome! But you can check out this link for more specific information. 3. And what about computers? Should I get a Mac? PC? Desktop? Laptop? Well, a lot of people feel that laptops are easier to manage, but they are significantly more expensive. As far as Mac v. PC, both OS's are supported at Emerson, tho many argue that Macs are more stable, and are better for creative programs (which you need if you're in a creative major). But, in the end, it's really up to you. Check out this link for info about purchasing discounted computers thru Emerson. 4. My ____ isn't here yet! Should I panic accordingly? Probably not. Emerson can be notorious for sending things out later than most other schools, so don't panic at all! And certainly not accordingly. 5. Is it hard to get involved in this particular organization? Relax, it's easy to get involved at Emerson, and easier to get over involved. Most of the orgs welcome fresh faces, and the week after Orientation, we have an Organization Fair, where you can sign up for most everything and anything and receive more information. So long as you're dedicated and hard working, you'll go far! 6. What kinds of things can't I have in the residence halls? Well, you can't have (and I quote) "halogen lamps, sun lamps, heating coils, air conditioners, water beds, electric percolators, coffee makers, electric frying pans, toaster ovens, popcorn poppers, microwaves, indoor grilling appliances (i.e. George Foreman grills) and other heating or cooking elements." Hope that helps! 7. What do you know about this particular teacher? First of all, you should check out the Emerson College section of ratemyprofessors.com, which you can find here. If your teacher's not listed, go ahead and ask! 8. What awesome things make dorm life better? An iron is always handy, as well as a basic tool kit (including a wrench, which you need to loft beds). Personally, I like having a full or a queen sized comforter, it's much nicer. Stock up on extension cords and power strips, they're awesome. Feather mattresses and/or egg crates make beds really comfy, too. 9. What can you tell me about the Castle or Los Angeles programs? Well, I suggest you read the website! They have lots of good information, and it'll answer most all of your questions. Here's the info about the Castle and here's info about Los Angeles. 10. What bank should I get? This link can help you more than I can. But research well, and you'll have no problem. 11. And how about cell phone plans? What do you recommend? I don't know of any service that sucks in Boston. TMobile and Verizon both have excellent reception. But research their websites and figure out how often you'll use the phone - most people average around 300 or 400 a month, but it all depends on you, young grasshopper. 12. What if my roommate is awful and we don't get along at all? Worry not! You can work out issues with your RA and RD, and if that doesn't work, you can always try to switch housing. It's not set in stone. 13. Oh, and what if the kids in emersoncollege are mean sometimes? Do they hate me?No, I doubt they really -hate- you, they just don't like answering the same question over and over, that's why you're here! | |
