If you were to find a journal, what would you like it to be filled with? |

Hey kids, remember me? I used to be pirate_yomi but I just moved to a new journal. Anyway, it's been ages since I posted here, so I thought I'd share a few of my new sketches and pages and things if that's alright with all of you. :]

Hi everyone! I'm here once again to direct your attention to the embodiment_mail community. Our sign-up post for November's swap is now up and will be open until November 6th, after which a list of swap partners will be posted.
If you're interested in the community, please check us out here to find out more information; and if you're interested in swapping this quarter; the sign-up post with further information on the swapping format for this time around is here. As always, we do request that swappers be part of both this and the embodiment mail community and membership is moderated but don't let that put you off - I'm online constantly and will approve membership requests as soon as I get them!

| Christmas Project... |
[Oct. 27th, 2009|01:02 am] |
Okay, so this isn't exactly journaling but I figured you guys would have some insight into this project I've got in mind.
My very-bestest-friend-ever is having his birthday this weekend, and he's getting a set of burned DVDs because I'm cheap and trying to get him as helplessly hooked on BSG as I am. So he's getting those in a boring old case, and I'm already planning ahead to Christmas. What I usually do is write letters to the people who I care the most about, and he'll be getting one of those too, but I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to make a journal/book/something else that is ALSO a DVD case, so I can keep giving him BSG seasons as we work through them.
I think I'm sort of envisioning a converted book - something big, like a dictionary - where I glue like 20 pages together and somehow convert that into a DVD sleeve...but I've no idea how to do it.
Has anyone attempted something like this? Thanks for any insight! |

| Question about making journals |

| [ | mood |
| | artistic | ] | If this post isn't allowed, you can delete it but I wanted to know if anyone on here is familiar with making journals? I was using cardboard, fabric, and unused paper to make them ~ but I've discovered I need a different binding method (the tacky glue and elmer's glue both were disasters) and I need a better way to cut the paper; I had been using scissors but the edges came out slanted and jagged and I can't afford a paper cutter. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! :) |

| Wizard of Oz question |
[Oct. 22nd, 2009|09:01 am] |
This is an extremely weird question, and I apologize, but I was wondering if anyone in this comm went to Wizard of Oz in theaters.
This past September 22, they had a special showing in theaters. And I have a special gift for TWO people who went to see it.
My boyfriend made some awesome "movie tickets" for the occasion because I was so disappointed the theater didn't do anything cool. He made a sheet of 4 and I have two extra. Is there anyone who went and wanted something special to remember the occasion?
Just thought I'd check. :) |

So after a lot of wrestling and paper cutting I finished my new journal. I used a compo book for the spine and cover since the front and back were nice and hard. I used some manila file folders for the pages. They are nice and thick so I can abuse them a lot :D. It's not my best book binding job, but hey, it's been a while. I plan on trying out a found objects type of journal for this, since I have never tried that before. It should be fun

I started a new journal in the beginning of September and I am just now getting around to posting it. Haha. I also posted a couple of my favorite pictures of my favorite pages of my old journal(the first I've completed!)

Today I accidently spent a substantial amount of money in Paperchase because I was bored and browsing in town. But that aside, I don't know what to do with the journal I bought. I already have a text (with the occaisional doodle, but yeah, it's a text journal) journal and was thinking maybe it would be nice to have a "things that make me happy" journal.
Thing is, it's quite a big book and I don't know how I'd full it.
So two questions really:
When you've ever done a "nice things" journal, how did you fill all the space? I'm not skilled at doing the artistic bits, myself. Scrapbooking is quite exciting to me though so I am determined to get good at it.
What else could I do with the journal? As the pictures show it has a few brown dividers in it so it could be a mixture of journals.
I bought a few postcards and random craft things, too.
