I put together an introductory tutorial on a way to start working toward paint and drawing effects in Photoshop. Very basic, probably more an introduction to one method than anything else. Done in CS4 but adaptable to PS7, mostly messing with filters and blending layers.

This tutorial deals with masks, tonal values and watercolor effects... among other little details. The icon was made in Photoshop 7 but the tutorial is explained with screenshots of CS4, and shortcuts are given for both versions. This means, as far as I know, that this tutorial can be adapted to pretty much any version of PS you may have.

This tutorial works best on light images that you are able to take advantage of any negative space. If any area of the subject is cut off you will need to fix this first or select another image.

Hey all :) I just wrote 2 tutorials and a sort-of How To for using Exclusion layers over at my icon journal [info]mowd_icons, located HERE.
Rules and Info:
-This tutorial is NOT translatable to other programs, because of the Color Adjustment Layers.
-DO NOT COPY THIS TUTORIAL EXACTLY!!! This is why I WILL NOT upload a psd. file, because I've had a few of my icons copied already.
-Let me know what you think of the tutorial! I like to know how I'm doing :)

Basically, same application post as before, just tied to this screen name so I can keep a better eye on new applications coming in :)

[x] Submit 3-5 of your best artworks
[x] Within the message field, please answer these questions:

Have you ever made tutorials (please provide at least one link if applies)?
If you have a graphics journal, please provide the link:

[x] If submitting large-scaled artworks, please use a thumbnail

Remember, if you can't take rejection and constructive criticism, don't apply. I have no intentions of being biased or rude. I simply will only accept members that I feel will be contributing some good to this community. If you are not accepted, please wait at least 7 days before reapplying. I will also tell you what I think you could do to improve your artwork, because wo/ good artwork, chances are that your tutorials will not be elite. I realize I'm not the most elite artist myself, because there are so many talented people out there. But I can recognize good artwork when I see it. ^^

With all that said, apply at once! I'll try to get back to you as soon as my student life allows me to, but I cannot wait to see your applications. ♥

When you join and apply, you will be approved/rejected by [info]foxestacado.

After you've applied and are accepted, if you have not already joined and are having problems posting, please check your invites. [info]foxestacado will automatically send you an invite if you have not joined. Otherwise, I will simply give you posting access since it is open membership but moderated posting. ♥
