Okay, I applied, did the test and was given a ticket number. Do I wait until I hear from the mods to upload pictures? I'm still confused about the procedures. When they contact me, do they assign me a password?

Please be gentle... I'm still new to online arting. thanx.

Within minutes, the daemons should automagically send you a mail telling you whether you passed the test or not. If not, you can always try the test again. If you made it, the mail should tell you where to log in, and with what password. Change the password, and set up your data (email address for messages form EW, name etc.). Then you can start uploading.

Just remember that after uploading you have to 'apply the changes', otherwise the system will keep your uploads in limbo. Once the pictures have applied, they'll be passed on to the moderators.

Not exactly right. It can take up to a few hours to get the result back. Generally we say that if you haven't gotten a reply in 24 hours, check that it didn't go to your spam or trash folder, make sure that your email isn't filtering out emails from the Elfwood domain (elfwood.lysator.liu.se) and then contact support with your ticket number. Support moderators can dig up your test and see what happened and re-process it if necessary.

If you make it, the reply email will be a long, long list with lots of important information and instructions for starting off. You'll get a one-use key that you will then use to create an account - this is not your username or your password, only a temporary code or creating them. The instructions email will tell you where to input it in the Extranet, then you'll get to choose a username and password, and enter all other information. After that, it's time to upload and publish changes.

It looks that you're Elfwood mod or just know a lot about the way Elfwood script works. So I've got a question, nit necessarily for a new entry in the journal.

Can you tell me if changing the info on a user's main page is possible without waiting for the pending ticket? Or maybe I'll have to wait even some time more till after the ticket will be realized (as with submitting new art)?
I've got a pending ticket from yesterday, so I could just cancel it if there is no other option.
Though - will the changes on my user page take place automatically and only new images have to wait for the ticket realization or all the changes have to wait for mod's decision - because of the script? I just with to remove my LJ link from the info page, such changes usually don't demand a ticket, but I had a new art to accept, too.

Within minutes? Aren't we talking about 'the' test that you take in order to join?
It took approx. a week or more before I got a mail telling me that I passed. Remember a mod or so have to look it through, don't they?

Not anymore. In the past join test were done manually, but now it's just a multiple choice test checked by a script. It can take a few minutes or a few hours to get it back - if it takes longer, something's gone wrong.

At Elfwoods main page click 'Join Us' in the sidebar to the left. At the bottom of the page that will now show click on either the link that will take you to the artist section or the writer section. Now the question/test will appear and you just have to fill it in..
Hope it works for you ^^

Let me ask something. Why the heck would anyone want to do all that just to join? Wouldn't it be better to just go over to DeviantArt or something? No silly questions.

Well, let's see. "Anyone" might not want to be labeled a deviant. (Some of us get off on that kind of thing, but not all.) Elfwood is well known...it's where hoards of amazing artists are and it's where the websearch hits come up. Power in numbers, eh? As to the silly questions, some of us get off on tests, too. lol

I'm just wondering, I have done the test and gotten a ticket number but when i check on extranet it says that its been prosessed and all that. but i haven't gotten any e-mail so does that mean that i have answered some of the questions wrong or what? do you get an e-mail telling you that you didn't make it?

I know that when I joined, I thought it was taking too long, and then in my wisdom, I decided to check my junk mail, and guess what was inside? So basically, check that your spam filters aren't hiding your Elfwood e-mails from you.
