Hello my fellow Elfen Lied-ers *cough* :) So I said in a previous post that I hoped to get a dicussion going from each episode and give it a good honest critique from a non-biased otaku U_U Well after a week I finally got to finish watching episode one, Receipt. And since there will surely be spoilers all the way to the very end, this is always be under a cut =D

To start off, I always loved how every episode was named in Latin, but what always got me was how the episode title was always a little odd =/ Anyway the episode starts off with a very bloody scene, which was extremely bloody for the time it came out because if you want to compare it to anime today, the opening scene might not seem as bloody despite the buckets of blood all over the floor from the inept guard. After all, no show/movie is complete without the inept guards.
The first episode also introduces the first and pretty much only appearance of Kurama's assistant, Kisuragi. I actually felt really bad for her because she was so clumsy that it made it all the worse when she was quickly killed off by Lucy (full back-al nudity =X ). When you first hear her and the other office assistants chattering away in the kitchen you notice that Kurama (you'd have to assume it was him for reasons I'll add later) left Kisuragi several "memo"s about what not to do -_- I honestly thought she would have had at least a bigger role in the series. Now I was reading an article about the Special OVA episode that shed some light on some of the opening sequences. If you watched (not too closely because sitting too close the to tv makes you go blind) when Lucy had killed off all the guards and walked by Kurama without so much as a nod, she leaves a bloody handprint on his back =O Why didn't she kill him right there? Well if you don't want a spoiler- wait, this entire post is a spoiler so whatever. In episode 14 (not really episode 14) when he, being Kurama, is shown first capturing Lucy, the girl Lucy tried protecting dies in an effort to save Lucy's life. Kurama had promised Lucy that he would do everything he could to save the girls life but when she died Lucy promised Kurama that she wouldn't kill him but would take away everything that he loves just as he had taken everything away from her. End spoiler.
Now what had always bothered me was how Lucy could take a bullet, that's powerful enough to take out a tank, and only suffer from a split personality. And finally we are introduced to the main character, and ultimately the main love interest, Khota and his cousin Yuka. Personally I was always a Yuka fan. I'm sorry to cut my review here but before I have to I want to explain why I've concluded that Nyu is really a pokemon U_U The evidence, Nyu only says her name: "nyu nyu nu nu nyu nyu nu". A pokemon only speaks by repeatidly saying it's own name. "Pika pika pika pikachu!" U_U;

Dear fellow anime-atics,

I'm honestly extremely disappointed that this community is all but dead ='( I mean come on, we all loved Elfen Lied enough to join a community about it, so why are we letting it die like this? =O Oh sure the series is pretty much over and any thought of making a sequel is about as farfetched as MS Gundam Seed/Destiny being taken seriously, but we can still talk about EL, right? =O So I'm suggesting that we actually get back down to the nitty gritty and start inputting our likes and dislikes about the series. I'd like to kick off by watching the first episode and writing up a commentary about it here, and hopefully enough of you are still around to either tell me how my opinion sucked *cough* or how awesomely right i am =)

What's your story regarding Elfenlied? I mean... if you're still here to read this you must love Elfenlied with a passion!

Honestly the only reason I came to watch the serie was because of the title. If the title had been in another tongue, it probably wouldn't have gotten my attention.

I just wanted to know what it was about and discovered a marvelously twisted tale with deep psychology! Soziopathisch kinder, Teufel! how many anime, comic or anything are there about sociopathic kids?

The subjet is one that touches me like no other : the value of humanity. Take the most innocent thing in the world, einen kind. And twist it beyond recognition.

I am always compelled to help and protect the innocent (I've got "to serve and protect" branded on my heart). Now seeing the anime made my heart bleed! The characters act so much like real persons, that it's easy to beleive they are! And seeing them suffering like that was just... painfull.

How would you... I think most of the people here are girls, am I right? How would you girls react toward those kids? I would just want to get close, hug them and twist their little neck. And the worst is that it's my idea of helping them, they seem to be already dead. They lost their humanity and must be... killed, but they didn't lose it because of what they are, but because of what they suffered. They are victims too, and killing them would just be like mercy killing. Every times I see Nyu just breaks my heart, because she's so... innocent, but she'd probably be my best bet to get her... and I know I'd take it. Or maybe I'm overly pessimistic, do you think there is anything to salvage from these kids?

Since I beleive (at least some of) you to be girls, or just that you aren't as paternalistic or defensive as I am, do you see yourslves in them, or do you just wish you could be like them? I want to know what other people think of this.

Shoujo Ai Showdown

Shoujo Ai Showdown is a guild that Volk_krosh and Silencescreams created on GarmRO.

A guild is a group of players who play together, help one another, and participate in
events to win prizes on the server. Basically, a group of people who like to have
fun together!

The server has 100 registered players, and only about 15-30 are online at a time. This means
that many of the awesome anime related names are still available for use. We created
Natsuki and Shizuru, and with the "Barber" we were able to change our looks to come
fairly close to the anime versions of them.

If the name you had wanted is already taken, try another! There are plenty of characters in
the Shoujo Ai Genre.

We are inviting you to come and play the game with us,and join our Shoujo Ai guild.

Create a character with a name coming from a Shoujo Ai series (cannon or subtext), pick
a class, and join our guild! Don't worry if you're a boy or girl, you can play either sex,
and we would be more than happy to have a Reito, Nagi, or Takumi in the group. If it's
from a Shoujo Ai, it's just right!

Since the server is still working on getting more players, GirlonGirl will be kicking butts

So just like I said I would, I went as Lucy for Halloween. The outfit was a bit rushed so it didn't turn out as well as I wanted it too but I still think it turned out pretty good. My wig was made of utter suck though >_>

For Halloween I have decided to be Lucy with her outfit in the last episode (because seriously, this fandom needs more love!).
I've already got the pink wig and tomorrow I'm going out to try to find the other stuffs so my only real problem is the horns.

So I need help on figuring out how I'm going to "make" the horns. If anyone here has cosplayed elfen lied before how did you get/make your horns? and even if you havnt, any ideas as to how I would go about doing this?
