Rumoured girlfriend + new film

25-year-old actor Eita has finally had his first taste of the tabloids. According to this week's issue of FLASH, the actor reportedly attended a goukon (group date) at a karaoke bar. Later that night, he was seen at a ramen shop with a woman resembling singer Ayaka, and the magazine was able to snap pictures of the pair walking while holding hands.

Eita's management denied the story, saying that the actor was just hanging out with a usual group of friends and that he isn't in a relationship with the woman in the article.

In other news, it was announced a few days ago that Eita has been cast as a trainee doctor in Miwa Nishikawa's next movie, "Dear Doctor."

Comedian and rakugo artist Tsurube Shofukutei will have the lead role in a movie for the first time in his 37-year career. The film is the next project by "Yureru" director Miwa Nishikawa, a human drama titled "Dear Doctor."

Shofukutei plays a gentle, middle-aged doctor running the only clinic in a sparsely-populated area. The villagers all rely on him, but an encounter with a widow (Kaoru Yachigusa) leads to the discovery of a secret from his past.

As this is his first doctor role, Shofukutei is currently preparing for it by studying at a hospital. Filming will start in late July. The movie is scheduled for release in 2009, with a possible premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Nana Eikura, Eita pair up for film about young cancer victim

Director Ryuichi Hiroki has a new project in the works titled "Yomei Ikkagetsu no Hanayome," which will star Nana Eikura and Eita.

The movie is based on the true story of the love between Chie Nagashima, a woman who died at the age of 24 while fighting breast cancer, and her boyfriend/husband Taro Akasu. Nagashima's life was the subject of a documentary aired by TBS last July. Filming starts this October in preparation for theatrical release next May, timed to coincide with Nagashima's death anniversary.

The documentary achieved ratings of 16.6%, and the story was later published as a book that sold more than 400,000 copies. Movie offers rolled in, and producer Takashi Hirano eventually earned the consent of Nagashima's family. Last year, Hirano produced "LIFE: Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara," a similar biopic about windsurfer Natsuki Iijima, who died of liver cancer.

A Legend Now Weaved Into Life

In a time when the gods roamed the earth, there was once an Emperor who had been tasked to watch over an ivory box that contained a powerful artifact. The emperor ruled a vast and peaceful land together with his three sons.

This peaceful picture however was shattered as one day, the mystical box went missing from the very heart of the fortress. For reasons unknown, the third son refused to aid in the search, resulting in his eternal banishment from the kingdom, a decision fuelled by a carefully crafted deception by his elder brothers.

Centuries later, the land is now governed by two clans: the descendants of the first son, skilled in magic and enchantments; and the sons of the second, a community with ingenious inventions and modern conveniences.

There exists, however, a third one - a clan from the wronged brother's blood. Rumors of their existence ran about, but no proofs of such clan were ever discovered.

Now, as the two clans battle for dominance, each goes to search for, and perhaps, align themselves with, the brothers they once drove out.

With the kingdom's fate uncertain, which side will you choose?

Hi, I was going through Wiki - yes, I'm on an Eita kick tonight, can you blame me?

I was trying to see if there's anything of Eita's work that I don't have on my hard drive - my collection is pretty complete - but I am missing a few shows, some though listed on the Wikipedia bio of him I haven't seen - has anyone heard of these or know where I can find them, and yes I check D-Addicts.

If you go check the Eita Works page he now has an EITA AREA section open - this is new, can anyone detail how to get in, do you still use your old username and password? Also, can someone do some rough translating of the info on this site, I'd love to see what he has to say - I know someone's asked this - but us English folks are rather in the dark. Also, did HE create this site or is it a fan created site - or maybe his agent did it. I think he himself did only because of all his personal photos he puts up.

New Eita movie

Veteran actor Koji Yakusho is directing and starring in a new film titled "Gama no Abura." The movie, which has been shooting for the past month, marks Yakusho's first time in the director's chair. He was also the one who came up with the original plan for the film roughly two years ago.

The story is a human drama revolving around a day trader (Yakusho), his wife, his son who was injured in an accident, and his son's lover. Yakusho himself was in charge of appointing the cast and crew, and he chose Eita to take on the role of the son, while Satomi Kobayashi plays the wife. Also appearing are K-1 fighter Junichi Sawayashiki and child model Fumi Nikaido, who will be making her big screen debut with this picture.

Yakusho plans to wrap up filming by the end of this month. The movie already attracted some interest from buyers at the Cannes film market this year. Producers are aiming to have the completed work make its premiere at next year's Cannes.

Producer-distributor Phantom Film has slated for the film for a 2009 release and is aiming for a slot at next year's Cannes Film Festival. "There was a lot of interest from both the festival and buyers when we introduced the project in Cannes this year," stated producer Keisuke Konishi. Yakusho previously starred in 1997 Palme d'Or winner The Eel and is a well-known figure on the Croisette.

Yakusho is perhaps best known for his role in Shall We Dance?, which grossed almost $10m in the US as one of the most successful foreign-language releases ever. His credits also include high profile foreign titles Memoirs Of A Geisha, Babel and Silk. He's also been a long-time collaborator of director Kiyoshi Kurosawa, appearing in eight of his films.
