A few random songs for your delectation. ^___^

Like the header says, I've uploaded a few things recently for various things and thought I'd consolidate them here.

Dry County, Jon Bon Jovi -- This song is depressing, but not in a moany, whiny way. It takes the pain and desperation and hopelessness of the character and throws it out there with no holds barred. It usually makes me cry and feel a little more awake every time I listen to it.

Down in dry county
They're swimming in the sand
Praying for some holy water
To wash these sins from off our hands

Windows on the World, Parc & Dare Band -- Some instrumental kickassery for you. Parc & Dare are a brass band from Wales who've been around for over a century. They have a sound unlike any brass band I've ever heard, almost otherworldly. This is a very rare recording from the 2004 Nova Scotia International Tattoo I only have because I was performing there too with the Calgary Stampede Showband. It was recorded at practice before the show opened, but the quality's very good. About the song: it's a medley of three songs. The first is called Amazonia, it's brilliant and strong and bleeds energy. Rainforest is the interlude, it's a quiet French horn solo of heartbreaking purity. Last is Drums of Thunder, which will kick your ass to the battlefield and back home. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Holy Water, Big & Rich -- B&R is awesome, the end. I know a lot of people hear they're country and run away in horror, but they're missing out. This isn't my favourite song of theirs by a long shot (that would be Deadwood Mountain), but it's haunting and beautiful and sad nonetheless.

Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I used to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell

Winter, Vanessa Carlton -- I listened to this song obsessively on repeat while writing a story. It gives me goosebumps, reeks of the mystical just beyond the edge of the ordinary.

I carry on, I carry all the weight of empty promise
As I stand swallowed by the light
Flickering above the highway
I hold my head and know the streets are mine tonight

You Can Still Be Free, Savage Garden -- I don't care if it's not cool anymore to like Savage Garden. They wrote music I like on occasion, and this is one of them. It's eerie, wistful, dark. Love it.

Cool breeze and autumn leaves
Slow-motion daylight
A lone pair of watchful eyes
Oversee the living

Nocturne, Billy Joel -- The master himself. This is an instrumental piece on the piano, but there were lyrics written for it, and they were some seriously beautiful lyrics at that. It's a pity I can't find a version with them sung.

When it rains
I watch the window
Golden dreams
Wash down the willow
Where are my Mardi Gras memories?
Under silver seas

Long cold nights
Change my reflection
Unsung songs
Show my direction
Where are my make believe victories?
Under silver seas

Ships pass over my head
Purple and blue, yellow and red
White sails catching the breeze
Sailing on silver seas

Once I lived
You might remember
Born in May
Died in September
Where are my carousel fantasies?
Under silver seas

Carry On My Wayward Son, Kansas -- Everybody knows this song but me, it seems. Absolutely kickass, holy crap. I've had it stuck in my head for hours now. Those opening bars make me completely boneless with bliss.

Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Too Tired to Write, ? -- And now I have a request. I love this song, but I forget who it's by, who I got it from, and only have this crappy compressed version I pulled off my mini-disc player just before the disc busticated. If any of you have it, know where to find it, or even who it's by, please tell me.

****

The end, for today. I'll try and remember to update this place more often. ^___^;;

Let me know if you take anything, and enjoy!
Randomness! :D

I just upped some things for friends and figured I'd put them here so I don't lose them. They are all very pretty, awesome things, so download and listen if you know what's good for you. ~___^

*****

Sondre Lerche is little and Norwegian and writes fantastic songs. That's all you really need to know about him. I'm far too lazy to type out a tracklist or dig up his profile, so just trust me and download it.

SONDRE LERCHE - FACES DOWN

*****

And here we have the first two soundtracks for the 50-episode anime adaptation of the CLAMP manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. If any of you have watched or played any of the .hack series, you'll recognize the music from those-- they are both composed by the amazing Kajiura Yuki. ♥ It's energetic, but ethereal at the same time... hard to explain, but AWESOME.

FUTURE SOUNDSCAPES I
FUTURE SOUNDSCAPES II

*****

More from Kajiura Yuki-- her own album this time, not a soundtrack. AWESOMESAUCE ON A SILVER PLATTER. ♥♥♥ UNF.

KAJIURA YUKI - FICTION

*****

Next up-- the soundtrack for the lovely Korean TV drama Coffee Prince. I love this drama. It's hilarious and touching and cracked-out, yet somehow the soundtrack is soft and wistful and absolutely the perfect cozy rainy-day music. I've had it on repeat for the last three days. It makes me happy, and it might just do the same for you. Highly recommended... as is everything I post here, of course, but seriously. TAKE THIS.

COFFEE PRINCE OST I
COFFEE PRINCE OST II

*****

And lastly, a couple of my favourite HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY songs from Super Junior, a thirteen member song-and-dance-and-something-indescribable-but-awesome-nonetheless boy band. They can pretend to be angsty and dark sometimes, but they really shine when they sing unreasonably, ecstatically ebullient songs. You listen to these and if you are any less than hair-trigger suicidal, they are guaranted to make you at least laugh at how ridiculous they are. XD

Sapphire Blue
Miracle
Happiness

jfldksajfldksajfl GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE XD XD XD XD XD ♥♥♥♥

*****

Um. Yes. Anyway. That's all for today. >__>

Hollywood has Hans Zimmer. Tim Burton has Danny Elfman. Hayao Miyazaki has Joe Hisaishi, and I would not have it any other way.

Without further ado, I once again try a jump start of the thread and I work to enlighten the world to the amazing skill of one of my favorite composers.

If there is anyone on this thread that has never seen Princess Mononoke or Laputa: Castle In the Sky I thoroughly recommend remedying that situation. Immediately. Once you have learned to love the story you will in turn find the music much more enjoyable.

At times the strength and power of these rhythms and melodies will blow you away. There is a tremendous range to these songs as well. While Kodamas perfectly embodies a spritely kind of nature, Lady Eboshi has a calm but subtle power, you will never look at drums and percussion the same way again after listening to The Battle Drums, and if you can find me a more beautiful instrumental than Ashitaka and San I will eat my hat.

1. The Legend of Ashitaka
2. The Demon God
3. The Journey to the West
4. The Demon Power
5. The Land of the Impure
6. The Encounter
7. Kodamas
8. The Forest of the Gods
9. Evening at the Ironworks
10. The Demon God II -- the Lost Mountains
11. Lady Eboshi
12. The Tatara Women Work Song
13. The Furies
14. The Young Man From The East
15. Requiem
16. Will to Live
17. San and Ashitaka in the Forest of the Deer God
18. Princess Mononoke Theme Song - Instrumental Version
19. Requiem II
20. The Battle Drums
21. The Battle in Front of the Ironworks
22. The Demon Power II
23. Requiem III
24. The Retreat
25. The Demon God III
26. Adagio of Life and Death
27. The World of the Dead
28. The World of the Dead II
29. Adagio of Life and Death II
30. Ashitaka and San
31. Princess Mononoke - Vocal Ending (By Sasha Lizard)
32. The Legend of Ashitaka, Ending

DOWNLOAD PRINCESS MONONOKE OST NOW

While this was written a good fifteen years before Princess Mononoke it is clear that while Joe Hisaishi learned a lot, he had an amazingly solid background. Laputa has more energy in most cases, but his ability to take a string of notes and use them throughout the entire album is genius. I often find myself humming snippets from this album because they are so deep within my head. There have been many re-writings of the score, this is (I believe) the original.

1. Sora kara Futtekita Shoujo [The Girl Who Fell from the Sky]
2. Suraggu Keikoku no Asa [Morning in the Slag Ravine]
3. Yukai na Kenka (~ Tsuiseki)[A Fun Brawl (~ Pursuit)]
4. Gondoa no Omoide [Memories of Gondoa]
5. Shitui no Pazu [Discouraged Pazu]
6. Robotto Hei (Fukkatsu ~ Kyuushutsu) [Robot Soldier (Resurrection ~ Rescue)]
7. Gasshou: Kimi wo Nosete [Carrying You, Chorus Version]
(Chorus/Suginami Children's Choir)
8. Shiita no Ketsui [Sheeta's Decision]
9. Taigaamosu-gou nite [On the Tiger Moth]
10. Hemetsu he no Yochou [An Omen to Ruin]
11. Gekkou no Unkai [The Moonlit Sea of Cloud]
12. Tenkuu no Shiro Rapyuta [Laputa: The Castle in the Sky]
13. Rapyuta no Houkai [The Collapse of Laputa]
(Chorus/Suginami Children's Choir)
14. Kimi wo Nosete [Carrying You]
(Ending Song by Azumi INOUE)

DOWNLOAD LAPUTA: CASTLE IN THE SKY OST NOW

Four albums and some random songs!

Hey guys!

I haven't forgotten about this poor little comm, despite appearances. I was just in a panic over schoolwork, as most of you already know. Now that I've <s>failed</s> <s>been rejected</s> screwed myself over for the fall semester by procrastinating horribly, I have plenty of time. ^____^

So today, I bring you four albums from really really diverse genres. I hope you find something you'll like! :D

In this post: Daniel Huezo (El Salvador), Cirque du Soleil (OST), Mika (UK), and Mr. Children (Japan).

Daniel Huezo - Comienzos

DOWNLOAD

Tracklist:

1.) Beginnings
2.) Gift for a child
3.) The naughty girl
4.) I only as of God
5.) The mission
6.) Grinding coffee
7.) Far-off places
8.) The blue hat
9.) Little fox
10.) Like the cicada

Info:

Daniel Huezo is a 22-year-old musician from El Salvador who now makes his home in Toronto. Trained in Latin American folklorico musical traditions, Daniel started playing with Xolotl, El Salvador's premier folklore ensemble, at the tender age of sixteen. More recently, he has become known to Canadian festival aficionados as a member of Nacascol, Uru and Grupo Raymi. Daniel's debut solo album for AVA, Comienzos (Beginnings), features classic traditional and folklore songs from El Salvador, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Daniel sings and plays most of the instruments himself, from guitar and quena to charango and cuatro. Comienzos introduces Canadian audiences to Latin American classics that are still relatively unknown in North America, from the joyous cumbias "La traviesa" and "Moliendo cafe" to the touching Salvadorean ballad "Regalo para un nino." Beautifully performed and richly textured, Comienzos is a truly timeless recording, establishing Daniel as one of Toronto's foremost acoustic artists.

He's so obscure that I couldn't even find an image of his album cover on Google, Amazon, or anywhere else. ^___^;; It's a pity, since in my opinion he is A+. ♥
**********

Cirque du Soleil - Saltimbanco OST

DOWNLOAD

Tracklist:

1.) Kumbalawe
2.) Rideau

Info:

Saltimbanco -from the Italian "saltare in banco", which literally means "to jump on a bench"-explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Cirque du Soleil's oldest touring shows, and one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. You can get a good idea of how culturally far-ranging and flexible it is by looking at the titles of the songs-- you have Italian and French nestled side by side with an African dialect and something I suspect is Sanskrit. There are lots and LOTS of drums and jungle sounds. It really takes you on a journey. Highly recommended.

**********

Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion

DOWNLOAD

Tracklist:

1.) Stuck in the Middle
10.) Happy Ending / Over My Shoulder
11.) Ring Ring

Info:

Give it 12 months and you might be taking out a restraining order--Mika will split opinion--but his quasi-soul falsetto is unbelievable, that much is immediately obvious. There are moments nearing syrupy Feeling-esque normalcy (take "My Interpretation"), but those aside it’s high camp insatiability all the way. There’s a hint of Freddie Mercury’s theatricality in the voice, and in "Big Girl" he's even written a modern day "Fat Bottomed Girls". "Lollipop" is Jake Shears leading the Jackson 5, "Love Today" is the missing link between the Bee Gees and Village People and "Relax, Take It Easy" is a chilled Pet Shop Boys in gold lamé. Too cheesy to be a classic, perhaps, but this is just the brand of subversive eccentricity Robbie has failed miserably to achieve over his past few albums. --James Berry

Description
Debut album from Beirut-born, London-based singer-songwriter who topped the BBC's Sound of 2007 poll. Includes the single 'Grace Kelly', which topped a quarter of a million listens on MySpace in just four months.

This man is evil, but you can't beat him for cracked out HAPPY HAPPY OMG HAPPY songs. The group has also recently become the #1 male group (with more than 3 members) with the most #1 albums to chart ORICON. [3]

Aside from all that useless crap, Mr.Children? Is love. Seriously. The statistics do not lie. I discovered them more recently, but I've come to love them almost as much as Kagrra, who are the love of my Jrock life.
I'll try and help revive this...

Now, I know not everyone likes musicals... but this isn't the music of a classic musical.

Spring Awakening just won several Tony Awards (The Oscars of theater) for it's daring story, design and music.

*please note- just as the album cover says, this is considered adult material*

The story is about teenagers trying to figure out what the hell is going on in their life in 18th century Germany, where no one is willing to tell them anything, and they aren't willing to talk. These life lessons mean sex, love, relations (both good and bad), and the world. (If you wish to read the story you may do so here, there are spoilers.)

I also suggest reading the lyrics, all of which can be found here.

As for the music, it ranges from pop songs about being in love/being horny (The Bitch of Living, My Junk, Totally Fucked), to ballads of sadness (Mamma Who Bore Me, Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind), emotional songs of hope and destruction (The Dark I Know Well, Whispering, Those You've Known, Left Behind, The Song of Purple Summer).

I will not gloss over that some of these songs are about suicide, being gay, sex, rebellion, death, masturbation, and even rape. However, they are excellent pieces of music with tremendous power, made possible by the extraordinary vocal performances of actors and actresses all under twenty-five.

Some samples are Mamma Who Bore Me, The Bitch of Living, My Junk (you can hear bits of Totally Fucked), and Touch Me. All the clips are on YouTube, I tried to vary them. Also, these are all live performances, they sound much more polished on the cd.

Track Listing
* Mamma Who Bore Me - Wendla
* Mamma Who Bore Me (Reprise) - Girls
* All That's Known - Melchior featuring Boys
* The Bitch of Living - Moritz and Boys
* My Junk - Girls and Boys featuring Hanschen and Georg
* Touch Me - Boys and Girls
* The Word of Your Body - Wendla and Melchior
* The Dark I Know Well - Martha, Ilse and Boys
* And Then There Were None - Moritz and Boys
* The Mirror Blue Night - Melchior and Boys
* I Believe - Boys and Girls
* The Guilty Ones - Wendla, Melchior, Boys and Girls
* Don't Do Sadness - Moritz
* Blue Wind - Ilse
* Left Behind - Melchior
* Totally Fucked - Melchior and Full Company
* The Word of Your Body (Reprise) - Hanschen, Ernst, Boys and Girls
* Whispering - Wendla
* Those You've Known - Moritz, Wendla and Melchior
* The Song of Purple Summer - Full Company featuring Ilse

DOWNLOAD HERE

If you have more questions ask me in the comments.
Four albums!

To make up for vanishing for a bit there (my internet's been a bit sketchy), I bring you four albums today. Enjoy! ♥

******

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

DOWNLOAD

Sample Song: We're All Mad

Tracklist

1.) These Words
2.) Single
3.) Unwritten
4.) Silent Movie
5.) Stumble
6.) Peace of Me
7.) If You're Gonna
8.) Drop Me in the Middle
9.) We're All Mad
10.) I Bruise Easily
11.) The One That Got Away
12.) Size Matters
13.) Wild Horses
14.) Sojourn (Hidden Track)

Info

Bedingfield was born in Lewisham, England to New Zealand-born Molly and John Bedingfield (charity workers). She has three siblings; an older brother Daniel and a younger sister Nikola, who are both pop singers, and a younger brother, Joshua. Bedingfield grew up in the south-east London borough of Lewisham, moving there as a child. As a teenager, Bedingfield and her siblings, Daniel and Nikola, formed the Christian rock group, The DNA Algorithm. Her interest in music was encouraged by her parents and growing up she also took guitar and piano lessons.

Bedingfield attended a year at the University of Greenwich, where she studied psychology. Commenting on her choice of study, Bedingfield said: "I was interested in psychology because I knew that'd make me a better songwriter. It'd give me a deeper insight into people." After a year of studying psychology, Bedingfield left university to concentrate on singing and songwriting. She began to record demos in the garages of friends who had recording studios, which she eventually took to record companies.

Which tells you basically nothing about her music. She's Brit-pop, but fun and positive. I never fail to feel better whenever I listen to her.

******

******

The Last Samurai OST

DOWNLOAD

Sample Song: The Way of the Sword

Tracklist

1.) A Way of Life
2.) Spectres in the Fog
3.) Taken
4.) A Hard Teacher
5.) To Know My Enemy
6.) Idyll's End
7.) Safe Passage
8.) Ronin
9.) Red Warrior
10.) The Way of the Sword
11.) A Small Measure of Peace
12.) The End of the Beginning

Info

Composed by Hans Zimmer, the score for The Last Samurai makes use of traditional Japanese instrumentation and compositional techniques, as well as the Western equivalent. The Taiko drum features prominently in the action cues. Vocal shouts and chants are featured in the "Red Warrior" cue. The score was nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe (Best Original Score), and won an ASCAP award.

My favourite soundtrack composer plus taiko drums? All around win. ♥

******

******

Crossfade - Crossfade

DOWNLOAD

Sample Song: Cold

Tracklist

1.) Starless
2.) Cold
3.) So Far Away
4.) Colors
5.) Death Trend Setta
6.) The Deep End
7.) No Giving Up
8.) Dead Skin
9.) Disco
10.) The Unknown

Info

These guys don't have a Wiki article. O____O Anyway, they remind me at times of Staind, at times of Linkin Park, but they're growing into their own sound. They recorded this album themselves in their basement. They did everything for this album themselves. When the record company came along, all they did was remaster the album and release it basically as-is. It's dark, but not really depressing-- just honest, and a bit melancholy. No Giving Up is (along with Cold) probably my favourite track on this album-- it's dark and raunchy, but its message is powerfully positive. ♥ I like these guys. They're worth a download. ^__^

******

******

Chris Norman - Man With the Wooden Flute

DOWNLOAD

Sample Song I: Suo Gan
Sample Song II: Point au Pic

Tracklist

1. King of Naples (Trad. English)
16. The Belle of the Stage (Trad. English)
17. The Fairy Queen (Turlough O'Carolan - Irish)
18. Hugh O'Donnell (O'Carolan)
19. Dry n' Dusty (Trad. American)
20. Rochester Schottische (Trad. American)
21. Frosty Morning (Trad. Welsh)

Info

Again, no wiki article... no article at all, really. This guy is rather on the obscure side. It's a pity, because he's lovely. He plays, as the title suggests, the wooden flute, and plays it very, very well. This album is a collection of Celtic folk songs, played in a light and dreamy style that brings to mind fairies dancing in the woods. Perfect lazy summer afternoon music. ♥

******

Enjoy! Let me know what you try! :D ♥

Over the years, they became famous in France, releasing albums every few years.

In 2003, Bertrand Cantat beat his girlfriend Marie Trintignant unconscious during an argument in a hotel room in Lithuania. She died a few days later. A Lithuanian judge sentenced Cantat to 8 years in prison after he was found guilty of manslaughter.
Today I bring you Tigerlily by Natalie Merchant.

()

1. San Andreas Fault
2. Wonder
3. My Beloved Wife
4. River
5. Carnival
6. I May Know the Word
7. The Letter
8. Cowboy Romance
9. Jealousy
10. Where I Go
11. Seven Years

Her lyrics and sound can range from ironic to soulful to joyous to tragic. Natalie's versatility of vocals and lyrics shine through creating a style that is all her own. She's one of those artists that everyone has heard something by before, even if they don't remember, on this album it's probably "Wonder" or "Jealousy," but believe me, all of the songs are beautiful and a testament to her ability.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FIU18PYJ

(The files are zipped mp3s.)
Three albums!

Welcome new people! I hope you find some music to love during your stay here, I appreciate all your participation even if you don't post anything! ♥

About the WinRAR vs WinZip thing... according to the poll, WinRAR works for the most people, so I'll be sticking with that, but if there's something you really want and WinRAR definitely doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll re-up it as a .zip file. I'm capable of both on this computer. ^___^

Today's mix: Loreena McKennitt, Paul Simon, Hoobastank, Twelve Kingdoms OST, and Kagrra,. Lots!

LOREENA MCKENNITT - BOOK OF SECRETS

Sample Song: The Mummer's Dance

1. Prologue
2. The Mummers' Dance
3. Skellig
4. Marco Polo
5. The Highwayman
6. La Serenissima
7. Night Ride Across The Caucasus
8. Dante's Prayer

McKennitt's music has generally been classified as World / New Age / Celtic music even though it contains aspects and characteristics of music from around the globe and is sometimes classified as Folk music in record stores.

Before McKennitt composes any music she engages in considerable research on a specific subject which then forms the general concept of the album. Before creating Elemental and Parallel Dreams she traveled to Ireland for inspiration from the country's history, folklore, geography and culture. The album The Mask and Mirror was preceded by research in Spain where she engaged in studying Galicia, a Celtic section of Spain, along with its abundant Arabic roots, thus creating an album including elements of Celtic and Arabic music.

According to the notes of her latest album, An Ancient Muse was inspired primarily by travels among and reading about the various cultures along the Silk Road.

McKennitt is often compared to Enya but her music is more grounded in traditional and classical invocations using literary works as sources of lyrics and springboards for interpretation such as The Lady of Shalott by Lord Tennyson, Prospero's Speech (the final soliloquy in William Shakespeare's The Tempest), Snow by Archibald Lampman, William Blake's Lullaby and The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes.

She's Canadian and her music is hypnotizing and pretty. Anything else I might have said has already been covered. ♥

PAUL SIMON - GRACELAND

Sample Song: You Can Call Me Al

1. The Boy in the Bubble
2. Graceland
3. I Know What I Know
4. Gumboots
5. Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes
6. You Can Call Me Al
7. Under African Skies
8. Homeless
9. Crazy Love, Vol. II
10. That Was Your Mother
11. All Around The World Or The Myth Of The Fingerprints

Wiki proved quite useless about this one, simply by dint of sheer overinformation. ^___^;; If you don't know Paul Simon (<s>how could you not?</s>) he was once half of the oldies duo Simon & Garfunkel. His music is really hard to describe, because it's really, really unique and he switches up his style a lot, but I suppose it's a sort of soft rock... which sounds completely wrong. >___< He recorded this album in collaboration with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and it focuses a lot on African folk-sounds even in songs that have nothing to do with Africa persay. It's beautiful, beautiful stuff, absolutely recommended 100%. ♥♥♥

EDIT: Buh? For some reason, track 6 escaped the zip file, so it's not in there. However, I uploaded it as the sample song, so if you download the album and the sample you'll have all the tracks. >__< WTF.

HOOBASTANK - THE REASON

Sample Song: Never There

1. Same Direction
2. Out Of Control
3. What Happened To Us?
4. Escape
5. Just One
6. Lucky
7. From The Heart
8. Reason, The
9. Let It Out
10. Unaffected
11. Never There
12. Disappear

Hoobastank formed in the Los Angeles County suburb Agoura Hills in 1994. According to drummer Chris Hesse, vocalist Doug Robb had known guitarist Dan Estrin for some time before competing against him in a high school battle of the bands competition and subsequently, they decided to form a band.[1] They then recruited Markku Lappalainen and Hesse to form Hoobastank, which at the time was spelled Hoobustank (pronounced the same way as "Hoobastank"). In an interview with Launch Yahoo!, Doug Robb said the name had no particular meaning: "You're going to ask me what it means. It doesn't mean anything. And it's really cool, it's one of those old high school inside-joke words that didn't really mean anything."[2] Rob Bourdon, Mike Shinoda, and Brad Delson of Linkin Park attended the same high school, Agoura High School, as the members of Hoobastank.

...That high school must have been the Cradle of Emo. XD

Nevertheless, I kind of like them, and they're certainly great for days when I'm all D: D: D: at the world in general. Doug's <s>face</s> voice is pretty and lends itself to this style of music very well.

KAGRRA, - 雫-SHIZUKU-

Sample Song: Utakata

1. Utakata (うたかた)
2. Sayounara (さようなら)
3. Kaze (風)
4. Ishin (維新)
5. Hakai (破戒)
6. Sadame no Ito (運命の糸)
7. 'Sakebi' (「叫び」)
8. Kasunda Fuyu no Mukou ni... (霞んだ冬の向こうに、、、)
9. Shizuku (雫)

Kagrra, ("Kagrra," with comma, spoken the same as "神楽" kagura), formerly "Crow", is a visual kei band dually signed to Columbia Music Entertainment and indie label PS Company, which also has contracts with Miyavi, Kra, Gazette, and Alice Nine. Kagrra, has a defining traditional Japanese feel to their music and costumes that distinguishes them from the myriad of Japanese visual kei bands.

Aside from that, THEY ROCK. Seriously. They are hands down my favourite J-Rock band ever, and this album is made of keysmash start to finish. Those of you who follow my personal journal might remember a few weeks ago where I shoved Utakata down your throats with manic passion-- I'm going to do it again here, sorry. Utakata makes me cry every time I listen to it, and definitely not in the bad way. It's beautiful. Sakebi rocks hardcore as well, and Shizuku... those are my favourites, but the whole album is composed of SEX and GOD. Please to be downloading this one if it's the only one you have time for. ♥ LOVE LOVE LOVE

TWELVE KINGDOMS OST

Sample Song: Juuni Genmukyoku ~full version~
Sample Song II: Fuushun

1. Junigenmukyoku (Full Version)
2. Junikokugenei (Sub Theme)
3. Kuni-Seinaru Hibiki
4. Youma
5. Kehai-Yakudou
6. Yasougetsuna
7. Ifuuoukei
8. Fuushun
9. Tabiji-Hasuyamaenkei
10. Junigenmukyoku(Acoustic Version)
11. Kuni-Touhoureiin
12. Souen-Shinjitsu no saya
13. Shuurai
14. Konmei-hisou
15. Getsumeifuuei (Slow Version)
16. Junigenmukyoku (Piano Solo)

Bonus, because the album doesn't have it, the full regular version of Getsumei Fuuei (the ending theme):

Mika Arisaka - Getsumei Fuuei

Wiki's got nothing on the soundtrack for this, but it is sixteen tracks of instrumental orchestral asskickery. The anime was amazing and the soundtrack is definitely no less so. If you want someone to rave about this to you, go talk to a_hollow_year, she'll win you over in about thirty seconds flat. I'm too tired to do so, but believe me when I say that this is a gorgeous, gorgeous collection of music and that you should definitely give it a listen. ♥

All right! That's it for tonight, I'm wiped. I hope you all found something in there that you like since I covered five completely different genres in there. XD All over the map, I am.

Let me know what you take, please and thank you. Don't be a leech. ^___^ ♥

Somedays

I listened to this for a full year when I went through a period of depression. Her voice is so honest and clear. Sometimes goofy. It's a bare and gorgeous album with bits of lyrical absurdity thrown in. Lots of piano. I love it.

Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UZ46PW96

1.
Three albums ~__^

Sorry for missing a few days there, I've been a bit on the sick side. ^__^;;

All ready to go today though with three full albums. XD

BLUE MAN GROUP - AUDIO

Sample song: Drumbone

1. TV Song
2. Opening Mandelbrot
3. Synaesthetic
4. Utne Wire Man
5. Rods And Cones
6. Tension 2
7. Mandelgroove
8. PVC IV
9. Club Nowhere
10. Drumbone
11. Shadows
12. Cat Video
13. Klein Mandelbrot
14. Endless Column

Blue Man Group (Blue Man, BMG) is a creative organization founded by Phil Stanton, Chris Wink, and Matt Goldman; it is centered on a trio of mute performers, called Blue Men, who present themselves in blue grease paint, latex bald caps, and black clothing. Blue Man Group's theatrical acts incorporate rock music (with an emphasis on percussion), odd props, audience participation, sophisticated lighting, and large amounts of paper. It is also noted for having a "poncho section" of the audience; in the front rows, audience members are provided with plastic ponchos in order to protect them from various foods, substances, paints, and so on, which get thrown, ejected, or sprayed from the stage. The shows are family-oriented, humorous, energetic and often employ thought-provoking satire on modern life. Much of the humor breaks the fourth wall, for example, interrupting the show to ridicule latecomers in the audience.

This recording is not a soundtrack, but rather an entirely new audio-only compilation using new instruments. You don't have to watch their show for it to make sense.

That said: COOOOOOL!!! I've always been a sucker for drums, and these are really awesome drums. *___* Weird as they are, their music is A+.

BOA - GIRLS ON TOP

Sample Song: I Spy

1.) MOTO
2.) Do You Love Me? (둘이 함께)
3.) Girls on Top
4.) 오늘 그댈 본다면 (If you were here)
5.) Love Can Make A Miracle
6.) Addiction (집착)
7.) Freak In Me
8.) 공중정원 (Garden In The Air)
9.) I Spy
10.) Can't Let Go
11.) Heroine (시선)
12.) 숨... (Breathe Again)
13.) 가을편지 (Autumn Letter)

Boa Kwon (born November 5, 1986 in Guri, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea) is a South Korean singer, commonly known by her stage name BoA. She is an active singer in both South Korea and Japan. Her Korean record label, SM Entertainment, has positioned her to become a cross-cultural idol in East Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. BoA is fluent in her native tongue Korean, Japanese, and speaks conversational English. She is currently learning Mandarin Chinese. BoA has re-recorded several of her songs in Mandarin Chinese and has written the lyrics for several of her Korean and Japanese songs. She has also translated some of her songs from Japanese to Korean and vice-versa and then re-recorded them again.

That doesn't say much about her music... she makes me think of a Korean Britney Spears, but with real talent and better songs. >__> It's pop, with hip-hop and jazz elements. I like it. It's fun to dance to. XD

ANDREW BIRD - ARMCHAIR APOCRYPHA

Sample Song: Scythian Empires

1. Fiery Crash
2. Imitosis
3. Plasticities
4. Heretics
5. Armchairs
6. Darkmatter
7. Simple X
8. The Supine
9. Cataracts
10. Scythian Empires
11. Spare-Ohs
12. Yawn At The Apocalypse

Andrew Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in Illinois and resides in northwest Illinois on a farm in the town of Elizabeth. His musical proficiency includes violin, whistling, guitar, and glockenspiel.

Trained in the Suzuki method from a young age, Bird graduated from Illinois' Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in violin performance. He released his first solo album, Music of Hair, in 1996. Vastly different from his later releases, this first album showcases his violin skills and pays tribute to his fascination with both American and European folk traditions, as well as jazz and blues.

His initial commercial exposure was in collaborative work with the band Squirrel Nut Zippers. He quickly was associated with the swing revival that swept the US music industry in the mid '90s, an affiliation that he is still working to shed.

If I could have sex with this album, I would. Please try it. I won't hold it against you if you don't like it <s>LIES LIES FILTHY LIES</s> but please at least give it a chance to <s>MASTERFULLY SEDUCE</s> win you over. ♥♥♥

By the way, if anyone has anything else from him, I would love you forever for sharing it with me. *hopeful* Anyone?

That's all for today! Let me know if you try anything. ^____^

Thanks to all those who have participated aside from myself thus far. Much much love. ♥

PS- before I forget, if any of you can't unzip the folders you download here, you can find WinRAR here.
I saw it in your eyes, what I'm lookin for...

One of my favorite albums of all time. Enjoy! :)

1. Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk (Reprise)

Bonus Track: Across the Universe

With an elastic talent--lyrically witty, vocally gifted, compositionally unusual--and a vague hyperactivity that keeps all the beach balls in the air simultaneously, Wainwright likes nothing more than trying on playful exteriors to match his churning insides.

Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?5l1mnxmj12t

NOTE: I'm going to try to do one album a week--cause it's fun! So next week it's either the Shortbus soundtrack or the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack (the play version). Any preference?

The band also performs original material.

GBS kicks ass. Based in Sado Island, Japan, they have been a major force in the post-World War II revitalization of taiko drumming, both in Japan and abroad. They regularly tour Japan, Europe, and the United States.

Although the main focus of the performance is taiko drumming, other traditional Japanese musical instruments such as fue and shamisen make an appearance on stage as do traditional dance and vocal performance. Kodo's performance include pieces based on the traditional rhythms of regional Japan, pieces composed for Kodo by contemporary songwriters, and pieces written by Kodo members themselves. The numbers that Kodo perform can change from concert to concert. Kodo's performance normally lasts for about one hour and forty minutes.

In Japanese the word "Kodo" conveys two meanings: "heartbeat" the primal source of all rhythm and, read in a different way, the word can mean "children of the drum," a reflection of Kodo's desire to play their drums simply, with the heart of a child.

I shouldn't really have to say more than that to make you realize that Kodo is made of win and that you should definitely download it. THE DRUMS. OH, THE DRUMS. *starry-eyed*

****************

Let me know if you take anything, a) because it's polite and b) because I wants to knooooow. Feather Moon
2.) Harbor
3.) Hope on Fire I
4.) Shine
5.) Mission Street
6.) My Medea
7.) Shasta (Carrie's Song)
8.) Homecoming (Walter's Song)
9.) Anna Rose
10.) Passage
11.) The Atheist Christmas Carol
12.) Green Island Serenade (sung in Mandarin Chinese)

DOWNLOAD

Vienna Teng (Chinese: 史逸欣, Pinyin: Shǐ Yìxīn[1][2], born October 3, 1978) is a Taiwanese-American pianist and singer-songwriter based in San Francisco. Her musical style, a mixture of folk and pop, draws on the influences of performers such as Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan. Teng took her stage name "Vienna" from the Austrian city famous for its musical history. She is a native of Saratoga, California and began studying classical piano at the age of 5, and continued while she was working toward her degree in computer science at Stanford University, which she completed in 2000.

Vienna is awesome. Just download this one and don't ask questions. ♥

*****************

Mini-album: AAA - alohAAA

1.) Hurricane Riri, Boston Mari

DOWNLOAD

AAA (AAA, Toripuru ei?, Triple A) is a Japanese pop signed to the label Avex Trax and debuted in September 2005. The group, consisting of 5 boys and 3 girls, were certainly already experienced as they had acted in commercials and had been dancers for other Japanese stars, such as Ayumi Hamasaki and Ami Suzuki.

It's hard to find more info on them than that right away, but they sort of remind me of a Japanese version of a less vanilla S Club 7. They are Teh Funz. XD

****************

Album: 300 OST (Tyler Bates)

1.) To Victory
2.) The Agoge
3.) The Wolf
4.) Returns a King
5.) Submission
6.) The Ephors
7.) Cursed by Beauty
8.) What Must a King Do
9.) Goodbye, My Love
10.) No Sleep Tonight
11.) Trees of the Dead
12.) The Hot Gates
13.) Fight in the Shade
14.) Come and Get Them
15.) No Mercy
16.) Immortals Battle
17.) Fever Dream
18.) Xerxes' Tent
19.) Tonight We Dine in Hell
20.) The Council Chamber
21.) Xerxes' Final Offer
22.) A God-King Bleeds
23.) Glory
24.) Message for the Queen
25.) Remember Us

DOWNLOAD

The lyrics sung are in Greek. The song used in the trailers of the movie, Nine Inch Nails's Just Like You Imagined, is absent from the soundtrack. The opening lines of the track Come And Get It are "Pherto - Parte to" (φέρτο - πάρτε το) translating as "surrender - come and get it". It is said that Leonidas exclaimed Molōn labe! (Μολὼν λαβέ) when asked by Xerxes to surrender. The opening words of Returns A King translate as "I am trembling / I am frightened of / Our returned king".

It is big. It is manly. There is much orchestral whaling-on. Good for an instant shot of testosterone. XD

That's it for today. If you have any questions at all about posting your own music, how to open the music you download from me, anything at all, go ahead. I'll love you anyway, promise. XD ♥

PS- don't forget to let me know if you take something, otherwise I'll think I'm throwing music into the sea rather than into people's hands. ♥

Music album: Akeboshi (Akeboshi)

I made this community as a place to store all the random music I upload for various places. There are no genre rules here-- everything from classical to Gregorian chants to J-rock to metal to Celtic fiddle music is accepted here. I'll certainly run the gamut even if you don't.

I only upload to MegaUpload. The others annoy me. However, if you really want something I've uploaded and MU doesn't work for you, let me know. I'm nice. I'll do SendSpace or YouSendIt if it'll make you happy.

This format would be nice if you can follow it. If not, no big, just use your brain and lj-cuts because those will never go out of style. ♥

1.) Wind
2.) Night and Day
3.) Hey There
4.) No Wish
5.) Akikaze no Uta
6.) Haikyo no SOFA
7.) A Nine Days Wonder
8.) White Reply
9.) Faerie Punks
10.) Morning High
11.) Tall Boy
12.) The Audience
13.) Kamisama no Shitauchi
14.) Untitled Bonus Track

One of my favourite artists of all time. His music has a very lyrical, magical folk feel to them that I adore.

Akeboshi was born in 1978 in Yokohama. He learned to play the piano when he was three years old, later learning to play the guitar. He studied music in Liverpool, and his time there has heavily influenced his music. Akeboshi's songs are mainly sung in Japanese, but there are some notable songs that are sung in English, such as 'Night and day', 'Money', and 'Wind'. Another thing of note about Akeboshi's music is that he rarely uses the basic 4/4 time signature. 'Wind' and 'Kamisama no Shitauchi' for example, are both written in 5/8. (Yay Wiki.)

One hundred percent recommended.

Akeboshi - Akeboshi

EDIT: I neglected to mention this at first, but if you just want a couple of the tracks and not the whole album, let me know and I'll put them up individually for you. ♥

Let me know if you take him because a) it's polite and b) I'm dead curious as to who's open-minded enough to try whatever I'm putting up. Thank you for your consideration. ^___^

Love,
~Eia
