| About: | ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) egypt_scholars is a community dedicated to the discussion of Egypt and the field of Egyptology exclusively with a scholarly orientation, covering from Predynastic Egypt until Graeco-Roman Egypt. Here is a suggested list of topics readers could post about (understanding that this is a general guideline; other scholarly topics are welcome too):
- academic discussion/debate
- archaeological information
- archaeological theory
- book reviews
- Egyptology in the news
- historical questions
- queries regarding Egyptologists or Egyptological projects
- university help
While readers can also talk about popular, mainstream works on Ancient Egypt (for instance such books as Island of the Blessed by Harry Thurston, detailing his visits to the Dakleh Oasis), the emphasis is on mainstream, scholarly discussion. There are other communities to discuss and debate the esoteric, mystical, pagan, occult, New Age aspects (perceived or real) of Ancient Egypt. This forum is not a place for that discussion.
