Okkervil River in Calgary [02 Jun 2008|10:03am]

daylight
I know this is probably a long shot, but I'm looking for somebody who wants to attend the Okkervil River show on June 26th (Thursday)in Calgary to do a ride share. It's a part of the Sled Island Festival, but I have no desire to pay for the whole festival nor spend the entire weekend down there. Since I'd rather not take Friday off work, it would be there and back in one day. Probably leave Edmonton around 3pm (doors at 6:30, GA seated) and come straight back after the show, which would put the return time anywhere between 2-5am. I can't see them playing TOO late, but you never know. Tickets for the Okkervil River concert are ~$32 (plus service rape) and depending on how many people (if any) are interested gas would run from 30 (half) to 10 (1/5th). Contact jurlacher[at]gmail.com if interested.

I'd go by myself but that'd be a little too expensive and lame. Not to mention it'd exponentially increase my chances of falling asleep at the wheel.

Cross-posted all over the damn place.

Cymbals [19 Apr 2008|03:44pm]

deganedward
I'm selling a vintage 21" 60s-70s Zildjian heavy ride cymbal (pre Sabian/Zildjian split). This is a more-rare item and is stamped as "Made in Canada" which few Zildjians were. No dents or cracks, very minor keyholing, fantastic shape w/ clear definition and a loud bell. In addition to this, I'm also selling a 5 year old, well maintained 16" Sabian Paragon Crash (the Neil Peart signature model) w/ no dents or cracks. Fantastic cymbals, but I'm moving to a different brand and don't have room for these anymore. Asking $240 for the pair. Pics available on request. Drop me a line if you're interested.

Xposted in assorted other LJ groups. I apologize if you're seeing duplicates.

Has anyone here had tshirts made up in town? My band and I are looking for a good place to get some basic (one colour) printing done on tshirts and want to get a decent rate. Any suggestions?

Ltd. Ed. Maple Snare w/ Cymbal for sale! [14 Jan 2008|06:19pm]

Also posted to Edmonton

Hey, I'm selling a 7x14 Ddrum S4 limited edition Maple snare (w/ outer ply of ash), red ashburst finish, beautiful woodgrain, black nickel hardware, die cast hoops, barely used (6 times), brand new Remo Powerstroke 4 coated head. This is an incredible snare, but I'm getting a different snare (steel) and don't have room for this one. I was asking $200 but I'm now asking for $175. If you buy this, I'll also throw in a 7" LP Ice Bell. It's a sweet cymbal for that perfect "ping!" Pics behind the cut

Sound Guy LFW [27 Dec 2007|04:34am]

pat_man23
Hey all,

Figured I'd you guys might be receptive to this kinda thing- I'm an Audio Tech, and aside from my day job, I really need to get my foot in the door in town so i can network etc, so I'm not stuck fixing people's internet for the rest of my life :-P

If anyone has a show they need a (currently) gearless soundguy for, emergency or planned ahead, whether the gig is a high school show, or a major club, music, theatre, or business speech, drop me a line at audiotechforhire (at) telus (dot) net . I'll try and answer within 12 hours if possible.  I'm not guaranteeing I'll be available for every event, due to my (constantly bouncing around) work schedule, but the more time in advance the better (i get my work sched a month ahead of time).  Of course I'm not doing this for free, but depending on the event, my prices can slide around (ie. school drama club pays less than semi-pro band...)

So Like i had said,   audiotechforhire (at) telus (dot) net .

Thanks,
Pat

Hi folks:

I have a slightly different style on the 5-string banjo. I don't get out to play much, but I'm thinking I'll try a bit of jamming this winter.  I see there is a Bonnie Doon folk club ... perhaps I'll try there. Here are some links.

Halloween @ New City [25 Oct 2007|11:33am]

satiate
[ mood | confused ]

Could any of you fine people tell me more about what is going on for Halloween at New City Suburbs? I was under the impression that Saturday night was going to be their big costumed bash, but I can't find anything on their website about Halloween specifically, and I would rather not show up in costume if no one else will be, lol.

*IS* their big party on the 27th? Or will it be on the 31st, despite it being a weekday?

Tokyo Police Club tickets for sale [03 Oct 2007|10:41pm]

1istener
I have two tickets for sale to see Tokyo Police Club on Sat Oct 13. (A family event came up on the same night.) I paid $43.50 altogether (2 tickets and service charges), so I'm asking $43.50 or best offer.

Tokyo Police Club
Sat Oct 13
Doors 8:00 PM
Starlite Room
10030 102 Street NW
18+, ID required
Row GA5, Seats 33-34 General admission, I believe. For some reason there are seat numbers on the tickets.

I'm afraid I don't know who the opening artist is, and you'll need one Starlight Room membership ($5) per two people going.

Their hits are The Nature of the Experiment and Cheer It On, which you can hear on the MySpace page above.
