I'm wondering if anybody has a good travel agent they could recomend. I'm going to Poland to visit my family for the first time in my life,  and I have no idea where to look for good/cheap tickets to Poland.

Also, does anybody have recomendations for a place to buy good luggage?
» Sound Guy LFW
Hey all,

Figured I'd you guys might be receptive to this kinda thing- I'm an Audio Tech, and aside from my day job, I really need to get my foot in the door in town so i can network etc, so I'm not stuck fixing people's internet for the rest of my life :-P

If anyone has a show they need a (currently) gearless soundguy for, emergency or planned ahead, whether the gig is a high school show, or a major club, music, theatre, or business speech, drop me a line at audiotechforhire (at) telus (dot) net . I'll try and answer within 12 hours if possible.  I'm not guaranteeing I'll be available for every event, due to my (constantly bouncing around) work schedule, but the more time in advance the better (i get my work sched a month ahead of time).  Of course I'm not doing this for free, but depending on the event, my prices can slide around (ie. school drama club pays less than semi-pro band...)

So Like i had said,   audiotechforhire (at) telus (dot) net .

Thanks,
Pat

» Room for rent!
I have a furnished (includes queen sized bed & linens; a television & storage [great if you have a Playstation or XBox!] and a dresser) bedroom for rent as of December 1, 2007. Full run of the rest of the house - shared bathroom and large eat-in kitchen; washer & dryer; furnished living room.

You would share with a mature, responsible, respectful non-smoking 30 year old woman and four very well behaved indoor cats. The house is well maintained, and I've just received permission to paint (the living room is currently mint green - not pleasing!!). There is a free-standing garage available for parking (for a nominal fee, as stated by the landlords), but there is also plenty of street parking, too and a spot beside the garage in the back. The backyard is large and includes a small firepit. I will be planting a garden next year. The third bedroom is used for laundry and storage.

Rent includes all utilities, including digital phone, cable and wireless internet. Cable is not currently hooked up in the second bedroom, but it can be arranged. I take care of mowing the lawn in the summer and the downstairs tenant will be helping with shoveling in the winter - he works nights, so I hardly ever hear or see him. I cook and bake quite frequently and I always share. I rarely have company over and generally spend evenings at home. I am sociable and friendly, but respect other people's privacy.

Close to major bus routes (the local bus is four doors down and it runs directly to the Coliseum LRT station; it also goes to NAIT and Kingsway), this is a convenient, quiet neighbourhood. Perfect for students!

Please, no smokers; no drug-users; no partiers. I am allergic to smoke, so not even outside smoking is okay. The landlords do not allow dogs and there is just no room for children.

Damage deposit is $200 (we can make arrangements). I am also willing to switch my bed to the smaller room and rent out the larger bedroom to a couple for $700/mo all inclusive.

This room is available as of December 1!

» Following the theme of moving

Ok Edmonton, here's the deal. I'm moving out of the city by the end of the month, and as I'm moving in with family who are furnished, I don't need most of my furniture.
Anyway, going for cheap or free to whomever can pick it up (I don't have a truck) are:
Couch
Chair
Recliner Chair
Table (Kitchen table style)*
3 Chairs with table (or without, whatever)
Computer Desk
Large Bookshelf*
Basket Chair (old style, like sitting in a giant contact lense!)*

Anyway, I don't have pictures to post yet, cuz I'm still in the process of cleaning off the mulititudes of clothes and other such that I've been storing on the furniture!

I'll post the pictures as soon as I can, meanwhile, comments can be left on my livejournal as my email filters unfamiliar addy's as junk and I might miss them there!
I have to be out by the end of November, but I'll most likely be gone by the middle, so I really need to get rid of these things!

Thanks a bunch!

» Cheap Furniture!
I'm new to this group, and I won't be here long... I'm moving from Edmonton back to BC, and I have a bunch of furniture that I have to get rid of. I have a Hideabed with a matching chair and ottoman, TV stands, computer desk, a little china cabinet kind of thing with glass shelves, a card table that I've been using as a kitchen table, 3 dining chairs, a twin sized captains bed, and a set of three glass coffee and end tables.

I'm willing to go suuuuper cheap, it all has to go by the end of the month.

I'm also selling an antique bedroom vanity. It's super old, in good shape, I just don't have space for it. I'm looking for a couple hundred for that.

If you're interested, email me at psycho_chik3001@hotmail.com, or comment on here, I'll send pictures on request.

» Looking for apartment...
Here's the skinny:
I've got a friend that wants to move out for the first time. She's 21, non-smoker, female. If the co-tenant is right, she wouldn't mind sharing a place, but because she works in St.Albert, she really needs a place in the north end (north east/north west).

Any suggestions would be amazingly appreciated. Share your knowledge.
» driving lessons
hi all,

I'd appreciate it a lot if anyone recommends to me a good driving instructor/educator close to Whyte Ave with reasonable charge per lesson/hour who can do Saturdays - that's the only option I have. I'm a new resident and have to take my road test before November, 8th. Unfortunately I don't have a vehicle of my own and all the *friends* I turn to for help say that they won't let anyone into their driver's seats. I'm holding a valid licence from Russia, I've had it since 2004, and I do know how to drive, but need practice and advice on traffic situations. Anyone willing to help please comment here or feel free to email me at tatiana.ilina@gmail.com.

thanks in advance

» Roommate wanted

I have a room in a three bedroom house that I'd like to see filled for October 1. The house is small, a three bed (really two, as the third is a laundry room/storage area), 1 bath place. The room may be furnished and I can arrange to have basic cable installed. Wireless internet is available!

There is a washer/dryer in house. No dishwasher, but the kitchen is very large (eat-in kitchen). The backyard is spacious, with a firepit and a garage that is currently used for storage (no one in the house drives). Parking is available at the back of the house or on the street. The bus is less than half a block away, and it's about a 10 minute ride to Coliseum station. From there, it's less than 10 minutes to downtown.

Montrose is a quiet area, with lots of trees and easy access to the Yellowhead. The house is close to 121 Ave and 65 Street. Safeway on 118th Ave is convenient by bus (door to door service!).

I am a quiet, non smoking woman seeking someone who is quiet and either employed full-time or a student. No smokers, please. I do have three affectionate and well-behaved cats in the house, so no more can be brought in. The landlord does not allow dogs. Caged animals will be considered!

Rent is $500/mo, including power/heat/water. Damage deposit is $200. Cable/phone/internet will run between $60-$80/mo for your portion (depending on the agreement reached). It is possible to look at a room and board situation, with linens, basic toiletries and basic food supplied.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please feel free to reply here or to email me
