After suffering through the embarrassment of her husband Edge’s infidelity last week, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero came to the City of Brotherly Love intent to show the world she was as strong as ever. The jilted bride listened as Edge offered his apologies and begged for her love, and she let the Ultimate Opportunist know she still loved him. But, by the end of the night, Guerrero not only displayed her GM power, but she showed the Rated-R Superstar that his tryst with Alicia Fox had caused her to do the unthinkable – reinstating Undertaker and placing her husband in a Hell in a Cell Match with the returning Phenom at SummerSlam.

Edge & SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero reconciled in front of our fans in New Orleans – after the Rated-R Superstar escaped serious injury at the hands of Big Show in a No Disqualification Match.

With Guerrero watching at ringside, Big Show used his size and strength to overpower Edge, and when The World’s Largest Athlete prepared to deliver a Con-Chair-To to Edge, Guerrero showed her heart still belonged to Edge, stopping the match and protecting the Rated-R Superstar – quite the change from the beginning of the night.

The GM had made the match after she had heard enough from her apparently former fiancé, who began the night by telling the world he was happier standing on his own and that Vickie was not good enough for him. The Ultimate Opportunist then said at The Great American Bash, he would prove all his critics wrong and defeat Triple H to win the WWE Championship.

It was then that Vickie Guerrero used her power as General Manager to place Edge into the match, and she had only one thing to say to the Rated-R Superstar, “good luck, baby.”

Arguably the Draft pick who made the most waves on Monday’s edition of Raw, Triple H kicked off the evening with a formal introduction. It didn’t take long for World Heavyweight Champion Edge to stir up some trouble, perhaps already playing mind games with The Game. It took even less time for Batista to rush to ringside and spear the title holder after The King of Kings cast him from the squared circle. The Animal grabbed Edge’s gold and raised it alongside SmackDown’s newest Superstar.

Edge’s night wasn’t completely unsuccessful, however. The Ultimate Opportunist took on new ECW Superstar United States Champion Matt Hardy in a non-title Champion vs. Champion bout. Making good on his nickname, Edge seized the opportunity when Hardy was distracted. The United States Champion was left immobile after a devastating spear, allowing Hardy only to wait for the inevitable pin.

Cena also tasted victory, as he defeated his long-time rival, World Heavyweight Champion Edge by count-out. After the match was won, Edge was attacked by Batista, who has his own problems with the World Champion, and will face him this Sunday at Night of Champions. With Cena winning the match, Raw earned another draft pick, which brought Batista back to Monday nights, along with his opportunity to win the World Heavyweight Title this Sunday night.

In the night’s main event featuring Batista against Chavo Guerrero, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero swayed the odds heavily against The Animal by naming World Heavyweight Champion Edge as the special guest referee. The scheduled referee, Charles Robinson, had been conveniently taken out of commission earlier in the night in a match the GM ordered between Robinson and The Great Khali.

And, in typical Guerrero fashion, Batista’s match included a stipulation: If he laid a hand on Edge during the bout, he would lose his chance to face the Rated-R Superstar for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.

Although Batista held his own against Chavo, “The Family’s” influence proved to be too much to overcome. After being counted out of the match by guest referee Edge’s fast count, Batista suffered a 5-on-1 attack from “The Family,” capped off with a brutal spear from the Ultimate Opportunist.

If Vickie can continue to use her power to orchestrate things on SmackDown, how might she affect things at Night of Champions and even at The Granddaddy of Them All, WrestleMania XXV? And with three days until the WWE Draft, is Guerrero’s job going to be someone else’s after Monday Night?

SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero has certainly taken center stage lately – and usually her actions have generated a chorus of boos from our fans. From stripping Undertaker of his title and banning him from WWE, to announcing the date of her wedding to Edge (July 11 on SmackDown), to announcing the new WWE Diva Championship, to forcing Batista to compete in a lopsided Eight-Man Tag Team Match to protect his opportunity for a World Heavyweight Title Match – WWE’s only female GM is sure shaking things up.

On what could be his final SmackDown, Undertaker was a guest on The Cutting Edge, standing face-to-face with his TLC Match opponent, Edge.

The Rated-R Superstar looked to gain the upper hand in their confrontation on Sunday and, with “The Family” by his side, attempted to close the casket on The Phenom’s impressive career.

As he celebrated, the arena went dark and The Phenom appeared on top of the ladder, sending a message of his own just 48 hours before the World Heavyweight Championship hangs above the ring at One Night Stand.
