Rules are as followed:
Part 1- Ed_ucating oneself
I.
Read the purpose of
pro_ed_ucation, located in the community userinfo. If you agree with the premise of an (non recovery-focused) education based eating disorder community as opposed to the typical, uneducated and non-reality-based ANA/MIA pro environment, great, keep reading.
Part 2- Joining Do NOT officially join the community until following all these steps and receiving the okay from me. Sending me a request to join without following these guidelines will result in immediate rejection. Everyone must follow these steps regardless of how well I do or do not know you. There will be no favoritism whatsoever.
Please comment and tell me a little about
I.
Yourself
II.
Your Eating Disorder or experience with/around such. Please share as much as you feel comfortable doing so, I'd like as complete of a picture as can be possible in comments. This can include stats, backstory, or anything of relevance, but do not feel pressured to share more than you can handle discussing.
III.
Why you think you are "qualified" to make judgment/informed decision on that which will be presented
IV.
What you think of the typical ANA/MIA communities and why you believe in ed_ucation
V.
Please include and explain your belief on when a person should be diagnosed as anorexic, what criteria is, and if you believe there is such a thing as "Anorexic behavior" or an "Anorexic mindset". Do you believe either of these things alone should result in a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa? How do you separate Eating Disordered behavior/mindset from an "Anorexic behavior/mindset"? Please inform me of your interpretation of both. I would also appreciate hearing your views on ED NOS (Eating Disorder NOS) and.
VI.
Do not comment any place other than here, the designated spot to do so. If you do not I will assume you did not pay very much attention to these rules and reject you from the community.
VII.
When you receive my reply to do so you may then join and add the community to your friends list. If you have been rejected you will be notified in my comment, as well. I will possibly discuss your answers with you before doing either.
This is simply a precautionary tactic. I do not want trolls, or people who obviously do not truly support the basic purpose of this community.
Part 3-Posting a recommendation for a community to be added to the
pro_ed_ucation base. (This recommendation must be (at least) seconded and thirded before allowed for voting.)
I.
Recommend one, ONE, community at a time. If you wish to recommend more than one, please make a SEPERATE post following the same guidelines specified below.
II.
Please state a summary of the community, in your own words
III.
State your own experiences at this community and why you are recommending it
IV.
You have a week from the posting date to receive your supporting comments. Anything after this date will be null and void.
V.
If a community does not receive the nominations required no users who replied to the original post may re-nominate this community at any point in the future, with no exceptions. If a separate user wishes to do so, however, they may.
To those supporting the nomination please include II and III, as well as any corrections you would make to any previous statements.
Part 4- Voting
If a community has been supported thusfar, I will post the summary, in a locked post, as well as a link to an unlocked post you may reply 'yes' or 'no' to. The unlocked post will contain nothing but the link to the locked review of the community, as to ensure no persons of non-community-membership response, and the list of accepted IPs to respond (see below for more on this).
I.
Your vote will ALWAYS be cast ANONYMOUSLY. I want little or no outside influence on the final result
II.
State your own experiences at this community and why you are voting one way or the other. DO NOT just vote 'yes' or 'no'. Any vote that does not follow the guidelines will be ignored
III.
Please ONLY VOTE ONCE, the IP review will guarantee my awareness of this so nobody can cheat. IF YOU HAVE DIAL-UP PLEASE LET ME KNOW BEFOREHAND, as your IP may not be static and I can give you a code word so you may still comment anonymously. You may respond to other comments, but if you change your vote, please either delete the original comment where you voted, or make it painfully obvious which was yours, so I will not count it
IV.
Do not just vote to vote, be sure about it. Don't vote 'yes' if you have not been an active member of the community or actively observed such for a long period of time. Whether the members were nice to you is besides the point, I want a full overview, not just an attachment because you were told in comments you weren't fat. I don't want to hear 'they are supportive', I don't care, you can gain support for idiocy 99% of the time (the whole online ANA world, so far), supportive of WHAT?
When you comment before joining (Part 1) your IP address will be saved. Nobody else will be able to see this but me, however I will be matching up IP addresses to my list of accepted member IPs. This will ensure that if someone has copied and pasted the original review, or found another way to view it when not a member, despite the Open Post Status, they will not be able to vote. I will post the list of accepted IPs within the voting post, along with the link to the locked review. Again, nobody but I will be able to see the IP of your comment, so though all can see the accepted IPs, they will not be able to match up your IP. I will not match up IPs to users, as well, and do not have that kind of memory, so my knowledge will not exceed the basic function of determining whether you actually belong in/are a member of the community.
Part 5- The results
I.
I will count the votes and the results will be posted. The number of votes must be in the overwhelming majority, and there must not be any solidly disputing evidence to why it would not be a good choice.
II.
The approved communities will be posted in
pro_ed_ucation in separate posts, per community, along with the review and link to community. The list of communities, with corresponding links to the posts, will be listed in the userinfo of
pro_ed_ucation. All posts within
pro_ed_ucation will be Public. The purpose of pro_ed_ucation is to continue the values of education over ignorance and provide easy accessibility. The purpose of this base is to make sure the information is correct and the education is the best it can be.
Please join and help the cause.
