| About: | ![]() Many people have eating disorders. This place is designed as a safe space for those who want to try to leave this all behind. 1. NO NUMBERS: We do not allow posts that include numbers that are DIRECTLY RELATED to eating disorders/weight. This includes: weight (in pounds, kg, stones), BMI, body fat percentage, weight lost or gained, number of binges or purges in a day or week, clothing sizes, etc. Even some medical numbers like blood pressure readings can be triggering to some because it can evoke that "who is sicker than whom" competitive streak in some of us! so... NO NUMBERS that are directly related to eating disorders. 2. NO TIPS OR TRICKS: Please do not include information in your posts on new ways to lose weight, how to better purge, or hide your eating disorder from your family, friends, or doctors. We are a recovery community and do not encourage people to support others in staying sick. 3. NO BOASTING OR BRAGGING ABOUT YOUR EATING DISORDER: The purpose of this community is helping each other in finding support and hopefully a better life centered around recovery. 4. REMEMBER THAT ALL EATING DISORDERS ARE SERIOUS: There has been some stigma that Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are more serious or important than Binge-Eating Disorder or Eating Disorder Not-Otherwise Specified. The fact is ALL eating disorders are dangerous to your health and have the ability to kill you. No matter what eating disorder you suffer from, you have a safe place here to get support. 5. NO HATE POSTS, GENERAL BITCHINESS, OR SNARKY COMMENTS: We are all in the same boat so let’s be respectful of our differences and try to help one another through this common struggle. 6. STAY ON TOPIC: Please make sure posts are somewhat related to eating disorders and recovery. We all care, but posts not related in some way to eating disorders and/or recovery do not belong here. Neither does promoting other communities or your personal journal. Please do not link to your personal journal or invite community members to check out your personal journal if it does not adhere to these same rules set forth in the community. 7. BE SUPPORTIVE!!! We all know just how hard and lonely this road can be. Please give a helping hand or a kind word to those just starting down this way. You don't need to offer any profound insight or advice. Just telling someone that you can relate, or that you care, can make a huge difference. 8. NO TRIGGERING CONTENT OR PICTURES (INCLUDING ICONS) If the post is questionable or possibly triggering, but does not break above rules use the LJ cut tag. Recently we have found out that the use of celebrity icons is triggering to many community members. Certain celebrities in particular have been embraced by many ED sufferers as "thinspiration." In an effort to keep the community as safe and trigger-free as possible, we are no longer allowing the use of celebrity icons or icons that feature models. Please also refrain from posting full body shots of yourself. Posting a face shot when introducing yourself is fine but often full body shots can be triggering to other member. If you are not sure that the content of your post is triggering, please put an lj-cut with some warning in the cut about what the post may be about so members can have some forewarning before reading. If you do not know how to lj-cut you can find help here. If you have more questions, mods and members will be happy to help you out. 9. HELP US OUT!!: If you happen to find instances of community members breaking these rules within posts or comment threads, please feel free to politely remind them of the community rules. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, please e-mail one of the moderators to address the issue. Eating disorders are extremely hazardous, unhealthy, and very serious. They are not the easy or magical way to lose weight. Signs of eating disorders include preoccupation with body weight or food (or both—regardless of body weight), dramatic weight loss/weight gain, excessive exercise, self-induced vomiting, binge eating, and the abuse of laxatives or diet pills. Seek help from a health care provider if any of these apply to you, a family member, or a friend. DISCLAIMER: **Any posts with medical questions are submitted with the poster's full knowledge that in an emergency they need to seek immediate medical help and that none of the respondents to the post are adequately trained to give any diagnostic medical advice. Any medical questions submitted are done with the knowledge that respondents can only reply with their own personal experiences which may or may not have any connection to what the original poster is experiencing** If you are new, please feel free to copy and then post this survey behind an lj-cut to let our members know a bit about you: Please look over the rules before you post to make you sure you arent breaking any of them as your post may be rejected for safety reasons. Vikki = ![]() Genevieve = Amber = Please feel free to contact either of us if you have questions or concerns about the community. We have struggled with eating disorders in the past (anorexia, bulimia, COE) or are currently struggling. We're all in the same boat. We genuinely love and care about this community and are here to help in any way we can. Special thanks to | |
