| Description: | Exercise, dieting, and weight loss competitons |
We do not teach you how to get an eating disorder. We do not pretend that eating disorders are glamorous, nor endorse them as a healthy way to quickly lose weight. If you're looking for motivation to lose weight but aren't eating disordered, hit the Back button on your browser; there are plenty of more healthful-minded communities out there for you.
If you're looking for friends, support, extra motivation, or simply a little more structure to your routine, and aren't ready to recover, you'll find what you're looking for here. The most common kinds of contests run here are Biggest Loser competitions (with teams and weekly weigh-ins), but there will be others as well. If you have an idea for a competition and you want it made into a reality, there is an official idea thread for you to tell me (
dark_math_girl) about it. I'm always looking for new ideas! Oh, and yes, you can be in more than one competition at once.
Biggest Loser competitions, since they run long term and involve losing a significant amount of weight, are ONLY OPEN TO THOSE WITH BMIs 17 OR GREATER at the start of the competition. This is for safety - someone with a BMI of, say, 14, should not be looking to drop three pounds a week for a few months (at least, not if he/she wants to stay alive).
Also, we do run on an honor system. Please be honest with your weigh-ins and self-reports. Please do not take away the sense of accomplishment of another participant who worked harder than you.
