Dawn mentioned in a reply to a previous post about putting a blankie on a ladder for Cassady and it's a new cat tree...no kidding, lol! Whenever a ladder goes up in this house for anything, before I even get a chance to climb it, there's usually a cat who's beat me to the top. As promised for a cat photo a day (or perhaps two or three, lol), here's a picture of my neurotic siamese cat Basho. This was taken several years ago in our screened porch, I was probably hanging plants at the time. The cats liked the stepladder so much I think I left it in there for a while. This photograph of Basho won a top award in an online cat show put on by a feline group I'm part of. He's such a beautiful cat, but those brain cells of his never quite made the connection that people are ok. I got him along with another oriental cat, Susu, when both were 6 months old (different breeds though, different litters, he's siamese, she's a black oriental shorthair). The breeder gave Susu to me because she was very small for her age and had an eye problem. But, she is typical oriental and very social. Basho just never got it and has always been fearful. It's like having a feral cat in the house. He's gotten a bit better over the years (he's 11 now), but, he'd just rather be with the other cats. He's a sweet boy, just never made the people connection for whatever reason. In fact, he usually bonds with another cat, at first he bonded with Tennessee our Maine Coon. When Tennessee passed, he bonded with TS, my grey and white boy. Sadly, TS was elderly and he passed as well. Now I will find Basho hanging sometimes with Chaim, also a grey cat, I guess Basho feels an affinity now for big grey boys. Here's a pic of Susu....this was taken before her small right eye was removed....she does fine though, with one eye, and is sitting on my lap purring as I type this... Here's a picture of Basho's first buddy, Tennessee, a lovely Maine Coon boy who died too young from the ravages of a horrible mouth ailment. He was such a sweet boy. There is some idiot with an overly sensitive car alarm system that keeps getting set off in the wind. Now, maybe you city folk don't notice it that much, but out here in the sticks where the loudest noise is usually the surf from the ocean, you can really hear it. Ya know, the lincoln used to do that, and we'd end up leaving it unlocked. Not like it got stolen or anything. Come to think of it, maybe someone bought the lincoln and it's our old car making the noise. But really, if it is, they need to replace the door locks or leave the car unlocked. Picked up flameian from camp today. Boy was he tired! We were going to go out to dinner for his favorite pizza, but he asked if we could do it tomorrow instead. No problem. He has been completely zonked out for the past almost hour, and I bet we don't hear him again until about 9 am or so. Current Mood: grumpy

On a day like today, this is an island paradise. I had lunch on the patio and afterwards, a siesta in the sun. Yesterday I rekindled my love affair with the dremel; the skies were grey so I stayed in and worked on two new pieces of art all day long. Today I've been working on jlundberg's book, cutting and binding one tiny interior as a test to see how this new paper handles. The last time I worked on Jason's book, the silk paper did me in. It's been reprinted on velvet paper, which is ever so much easier to work with as far as cutting and binding goes. I've also started coding the next issue of CdF, but I've not been back into the slushbox yet. It is a balancing act. If all goes well, we'll have more content than we usually do, and I don't want to see a single typo or bit of html where it shouldn't be when that thing goes live. I'll read more subs next week and make decisions on those still there. We're off to the pub tonight, I think, and tomorrow is for a stroll around Wakefield and then an evening of tucking in and watching films. Any recommendations? Do any Brits who read this use this service? As far as I know there is no Netflix here, so we're thinking of joining that one. This has, without a doubt, been the best week I've had since coming home. Next week should be even better.

Okay, so I realize I am several years behind the times here, but I have been seriously making up for shows I have missed. Namely, The Sopranos. I hadn't had cable until about a year ago, and only briefly at that. I discontinued cable, and have been working Netflix. Which I find awesome, to begin with. Then, I discovered the entire Sopranos series there, and have been burning my way thru the seasons. This is gripping, addictive, amusing, fascinating. These are people I feel I know personally, and grew up with. Now I finally understand why it won so many awards over the years. I am down to Season 6, Part 2, and the end is in sight. I don't want it to end. Sad, huh? But I haven't watched a series as compelling as this, ever. *sigh* Current Mood: melancholy Current Music: "The Sopranos" themesong on an endless loop in my head. . .
