1:30 pm - Textbooks for sale!
|

I am selling the following textbooks for these EMU courses. Please note that I have listed prices without shipping, as I would prefer to sell them in person. If you'd like to buy any of these books but are currently not in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area, just let me know, and we can work out shipping. Also, if you'd like to see pictures of the books, let me know that as well.
CTAS 124 - Fundamentals of Speech - Invitation to public speaking: Eastern Michigan University, fundamentals of speech. (by Griffin) This book has a creased corner of the cover, and I believe there is a small amount of marking inside. (I can't find any marks at the moment). Asking price: $40
CHL-208 - Multicultural Children's literature - Red Scarf Girl (by Ji-Li Jiang) It is pretty obvious that this book has been used: it's pages are slightly discolored with age, and it's cover has a crease running down it. There is no marking inside of it. Asking price: $5 in person - Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry (by Mildred D. Taylor) This book has some signs of wear: a partially creased corner of the cover, slightly discolored pages due to age, but you could still get a lot of life out it! It has no marking inside Price: $5 in person - Monster (by Walter Dean Myers) For a used book, this text is in really nice condition. There is no marking inside and no bent pages. Price: $5 in person - American Born Chinese (by Gene Luen Yang) This book is in stellar condition! It's only flaw is a small stain on the bottom of the book, which is not visible when reading it. It has no marking on the pages. Price: $13 in person
PSY 102 - General Psychology Exploring psychology, 7th edition (by David G. Myers) This book shows signs of wear: it's pages are bent and there is highlighting in it. It's still got life in it though! Asking price: $20 in person

10:21 am - Hiya Everybody :)

I just cam across this community and wanted to say hello, and introduce myself.
I'm Bree and will be starting to finish my degree at EMU in May...I've got 2 years to go now since I'm switching things up and getting my teaching cert. I would love to make some new friends! It's often hard for me to do since most college students and I are at very different places in our lives. I'm only 23, but I'm a wife and a mommy, so partying is not on the top of my priority list. Anyone here in the same boat?
Anyway, Hello to everyone :) I'll be taking ART425 and ART210 this spring semester, so if any of you are too, I will be pleased to meet you :)

4:21 pm - Who's already taken PSY340- Prejudice and Discrimination?

To those of you who have already taken PSY340 w/ Dr. Loverich, can you please tell me if all 3 books she has as required texts were really used thoroughly? If I buy all 3 books, even used on half.com or amazon.com, I'm still looking at spending well over $100... this is ridiculous for a 6week course!
Thank you so much for any helpful information!
You can also email me: amille76@emich.edu !

6:38 pm - Commencement Tickets
|

I REALLY hate to ask this but my family is on the verge of major conflict over this and I'm desperate. Is there anyone out there who is not using all 6 of their commencement tickets? I really need one more. I'm willing to pay 10-20 bucks for it if you really want. I just don't want my family to kill each other.
If anyone can help me out, I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thank you!

1:37 pm - Special Education Program

I was wondering if anybody was in or is familiar with Eastern's Special Education Program and if they could tell me how they like it so far? I've been looking at the program online so far and it looks as if it meets my needs and has the endorsement that I would like to be certified in. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

12:39 pm - MA program

So, I'm graduating from NMU this May. I had initially planned on going to grad school for creative writing, but after taking a linguistics class I realized that I'm a complete nerd and would rather go into that. Has anyone here had any experience with the Linguistics program at EMU? And, while we're at it, what about the Children's Lit program? Really, any information about the English department would be a lot of help right now.
And as a general question, what's the living atmosphere in the area? I was born in Grand Rapids, but I've spent most of my life in Northern Michigan (Mackinaw and Marquette). What are things you like about the area and what are some things you don't like?
Thanks!

I have 3 classes left in my major and 1 in my minor.. and no gen eds left.. I think I'm doing good, almost done, then I meet with an advisor and they inform me I still have 22!!! credits left in which to blow. This is such a waste of time, and I don't want to take 1 credit dance classes and make my time at Eastern last even longer, so have any of you taken any interesting, fairly easy classes that'll keep my GPA up? Thanks!

Hi All,
I won a Dark Angels Battleforce at a local raffle. It's the one that's no longer in production. I don't play Space Marines so I put it up on ebay. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, the link is HERE.

1:49 am - Available apartments in area
|

laufkatzeauto
|
Hey all...
My boyfriend is looking for an apartment in the Ypsi/Arbor area, probably something closer to summer but trying to get an idea now of prices/areas that are good to live in, etc. I go to EMU but commute so I know nothing about living near campus.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any apartments in SAFE neighborhoods costing no more than $ 450/month unless utilities are included. It doesn't need to be anything fancy.. one bedroom+bath is fine. Preferably no roommates.
Any information much appreciated. Reply here or to: amille76@emich.edu
Thanks pals! Have a fun, safe break :)

I'm looking into getting an apartment near campus for next year, and I had a question for you all about Peninsular Place - namely, do they allow pets? I ask this because my cat is incredibly attached to me, and I'm afraid that if I moved out without her she'd go off her food or something drastic like that. (Plus I love her too much to leave her behind when I move away from home)

11:37 am - 日本語を話せますか??
|

ouisi

Hi everyone. Are you all surviving the semester so far? I was just wondering if there was anyone who is in fairly high level Japanese (400 level?), or who can speak Japanese that might like to meet up with me once a week to practice conversation. My Japanese speaking ability is awful, despite the fact that I’m a Japanese major. I finished my major two years ago (Winter 2007) and right now I’m finishing up my minor so I haven’t really had the chance to use it and I’ve lost a lot of what I had in terms of language ability. I’ve never been to Japan, either, so I’ve never really developed the ability to speak. I have a lot of trouble being confident enough to even try.
I can’t afford a tutor so I was wondering if anyone would just like to meet once a week or so on or around campus to practice conversation. (You need to be patient because my Japanese really is that bad.) Also, if anyone attends the weekly coffee hour for JSA, could you tell me how it is? It’s kind of out of my way to come to campus on Sunday but I’m considering coming once in a while.
Thank you!! Stay warm!

Vegetarians, Vegans, and anyone who likes handmade cruelty free products. At twelve oaks mall in novi, near i believe nordstroms, is a store called LUSH. They specialize in handmade soaps, body creams, deodorants, and other bath and body things. All of their items are vegetarian & vegan, they are labeled vegan if they are and smell very nice and appear from the soaps i bought to be good for sensitive skin. check them out. :) I believe they have a website too lush.com i believe.

Hello!
Unfortunately, I need to leave my apartment due to personal reasons. However, my roommate wishes to stay, so I need to find someone to take my place on the lease. The apartment features two bedrooms, one bathroom, lots of closet space, a gated community, and a balcony. Rent is negotiable, but I am asking for $335 a month, plus utilities. It is on Golfside, so it is close to EMU, Ann Arbor, US-23, and I-94. There is one dog, but she is on the smaller side, very well-mannered and gets along well with cats and other dogs. My roommate is laid back and fun, and very dependable about paying bills and rent.
Leave me a comment if this sounds like a good fit for you! I hope to hear from you soon!
