So EA is working toward acquiring a 20% share, a majority, in Ubisoft (<a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=6016">source</a>). In the last year, they've acquired Criterion, an exclusive contract with the NFL, and now this. How much later until they acquire a large interest in Vivendi? We may all joke about a future dominated by an EA monopoly, but it looks like it's coming closer and closer to happening. I won't sit here and call a "boycott" against them, it's not like it would do any good against the swarm of soccermoms and nascar dads buying the latest copy of Madden or NFS:Underground for their wannabe racer kiddie rugrat. But everytime you hear something like this, if you can, do something else to promote games other than stuff from EA. Buy a game from a smaller company, something from Atlus or even something cheap like Katamari Damacy or Gungrave: OD. Try to track down Alien Hominid or Shikigami 2. Get a friend one of these games for Christmas or their birthday. Get involved in making a game, if that's your thing. Fight the man! and all that jazz.

Welcome people. I wanted to channel all the rage directed at EA. This is one place to do it. I'm working on other outlets too. I really don't give a crap if Burnout 3 rocks, I'm not going to buy it. To hell with EA, what reason should the gaming public have for supporting them.
