espresso_addict: Fic: The Earth speaks (Dalemark drabble)

I've never posted here before (waves) but this drabble fell out whilst I was writing my two Dalemark stories for this year's yuletide, and I thought it might just be of interest... Title: The Earth speaks Author: Firerose ( espresso_addict) Fandom: Dalemark QuartetRating: G Summary: Your iron ropes strangle my hills ( The Earth speaks )
Hi! I’m trying to do an assignment based on a community of fans of an author I like, and I couldn’t think of anyone better than Diana Wynne Jones! I’d appreciate it if I could get some responses to a few questions I have below, thanks very much!
1) Where are you from and what is your age (if you don’t mind answering that)? I’m interested in getting a sense of the age ranges of DWJ’s fans who participate in online communities. I, for one, only started reading her novels in university, and haven’t yet finished reading them all (getting there soon! And when I do, it’s re-reading them all over again time)
2) How long have you been a member of this community? What is your degree of participation in this community, and how do you contribute to it?
3) Are there any shared activities that the community participates in together offline? Like attend festivals, DWJ signings etc.?
4) Have any of you, as fans, ran into copyright issues with DWJ publishers? Any tensions between you and the publishers of DWJ’s work? For e.g. trying to create your own “Tough Guide to Fantasyland” type thing? Kinda like the Harry Potter fiasco where a fan created a Harry Potter world lexicon and had to remove it because of copyrights. You can email me personally if you might want to share anything with me.
5) Are you a member of any other DWJ community other than this one?
6) Anything else you might want to share with me/ find interesting.
Thanks for taking time to help me answer these few questions!!
-yilicious

Okay, so about ten seconds after I posted that first drabble, I realized if I was going to do a sequel, why wouldn't I just put them all in the same post? And then I felt stupid. So here they are, all in the same post. Title: Oh Fandom: The Chronicles of Chrestomanci Characters: Cat, Joe Prompt: 077, What? Word Count: 100 Rating: G Summary: Joe was beginning to feel like he had missed something. Author's Notes: Did anyone else feel like this particular issue was kind of glossed over in TPE? TITLE: There's Something Out There and It's Laughing at Us AUTHOR: athenejenRATING: There are two versions of this, an NC-17 version and a PG version. SUMMARY: One morning at breakfast, Malcolm McIntyre gets turned into a cat. Hijinks, as they say, ensue. FEATURED CHARACTERS/PAIRINGS: Caspar Brent/Malcolm McIntyre, Johnny Brent, Gwinny Brent NOTES: This story contains slash between stepbrothers. The PG version contains very mild kissing. The NC-17 version, written for Yuletide 2007, contains considerably more than that. ETA: This is set a few years after the books, so they're approximately high-school-aged. I hope it's all right that I'm posting this here. It seemed like there were some people who would strongly prefer to read a less-explicit version of this, so I ended up doing a PG edit as an alternate version. PG version (my journal) NC-17/hard R version here (my journal) or here (Yuletide)

Well, I joined fanfic100with the claim "The Chants" (it's nice and broad so I don't think I'll get bored) and this is my first one! Exciting! Title: Family Tree Fandom: The Chronicles of Chrestomanci Characters: Millie, the Chant family Prompt: 001, Beginnings Word Count: 683 Rating: PG Summary: It was strange to think that the Chant family had started out so nicely. Author's Notes: Begin at the beginning, right? Vague spoilers for (perhaps) Charmed Life. No pairings. Family Tree

gair: Majoritython

So I was just idly thinking the other day about what colour Milly is (is she actually said to be white anywhere?) and also about the fact that DWJ has said that there hasn't been a female Chrestomanci, not because there are no female nine-lived enchanters, but because Chrestomanci's world is too conservative in its gender politics. And then the Majoritython was announced - a ficathon for fanfic about women and/or people of colour in positions of political power - and I thought, you know, we should have some DWJ fanfic in there. Anyone else interested?

If this isn't allowed, please delete the post. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find a pair of Howl's Moving Castle fics. One was a retelling of HMC from Howl's point of view. The other one took up after the end of the novel, it was a series of vignettes, I believe and I can't remember all of them, but one of them had Sophie meeting Megan after Sophie got pregnant with Morgan. Does anyone know what either of these fics are? I've searched my bookmarks, but I can't find them.

Title: Autumn Leaves Author: darias_boots Rating: G Summary: A young woman explains to her son why Daddy won't be coming home anytime soon; Laurel gloats My first post here! How exciting! A short Fire and Hemlock fanfic. Reviews and con crit are always appreciated.( Her silvery hair is bound in a plait... )

The latest in a long line of insane crossovers. I don't think you have to have seen SGA particularly to read this story, so long as you know the stargate is a device to travel between worlds. This is, erm, a couple of years old. I wrote it and then lost it. I'm hoping the canon is vaguely accurate. Title: Another Travellers Tale Author: Roseveare Rating: PG Length: 4000 words ish Summary: A meeting of travellers between worlds. Stargate Atlantis/Homeward Bounders crossover. Notes: Takes a few liberties with the setup in the book, but I'm not gonna point them out if you don't notice 'em. Also, I'm going to look the other way and hum innocently and pretend the time discrepancy isn't there. Set no more than a few years before Jamie meets Helen and Joris - not that Jamie knows that - and a vaguely generic second season SGA. Disclaimer: Not mine, no profit, yadda yadda yadda. ( Another Travellers Tale )
