Opening Post

Welcome to the wallpaper community devoted to Doctor Who!




If you have Doctor Who art that you'd like to share, this is the place! All I ask is that any art you post must be larger than 100x100 px. This naturally includes wallpapers, but also wallscrolls, large banners, and general graphics. Also welcome are Doctor Who LJ layouts and mood themes. Wallpapers with matching icons are permitted, as long as they are posted together in the same post. To make this community a friendly place for dial-up users, please place all art larger than 300x300 px behind an LJ cut (whether it be a real cut or fake one)! The only exception is if you post a clickable thumbnail.

Also welcome are resources (e.g. screencaps) directly related to Doctor Who. Caps for the new series can be found at Time and Space and Chaotic Creative. Caps and images for both the classic and new series can be found at The Doctor Who image Archive, The Official BBC Doctor Who Site and The Tragical History Tour. Feel free to share caps from the classic series!

Please remember to tag your posts, just to keep things organized. A list of available tags can be found here.

Please play nice! Flaming will not be tolerated. Deliberate flamers will get one warning before being banned.

Our artists work hard on their entries and submissions, please comment and tell them so. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy when you do.

Just to keep things interesting, I'll also be hosting a monthly challenge.

Challenges: A new challenge will be posted on the first day of every month (or as near to it as I can get). You will have until midnight GMT on the last day of the month to post your wallpaper.

  • When posting your entry, please post it as a comment to the challenge post and include both the wallpaper and the link to the image. All comments will be screened for the challenge.
  • Only original art will be accepted, no previous creations permitted in the challenges. Manips are acceptable, unless otherwise stated in the challenge rules.
  • Please do not post your piece anywhere else until after the challenge ends.
  • Voting will take place the week after the challenge closes and will last for seven days.
  • Voting will be open to all, even those who did not enter.
  • If you enter a challenge you must vote, or your entry will be disqualified!

You might want to include a link to the Doctor Who Image Archive at shillpage.com. There are a few images from the new series, but a lot from the older seasons and of the actors in other roles and non-story Doctor Who stills.

Not yet. I might make some soon. The header bar we have was supposed to be just a stopgap that I made while strange_emma did her thing with a paintbrush and made us something arty... but she's broken her thumb.

Oh, so definitely joining...and one more question - is it possible to get the banner you posted above in a wallpaper size? Because the graphics job is absolutely gorgeous...if not, that's okay. I'm perfectly capable of making my own wallpapers, just lazy. ^_^
