Any suggestions to assist a novice?

Any recommendations for software to do photo manips? I'm not really tech savvy, but this is giving me reason to learn some stuff.

So what do I do when I find what is quite possibly one of the oddest pictures I've ever seen on the internet?

Make a Doctor Who manip out of it, of course! I've been trying not to do the "super far away" thing, but I couldn't help it this time. Maybe I'll try a closer-up one next...

Anyway, there is a picture of a dead animal under the cut. It's not very gorey, but if it creeps you out, you might wanna skip it.

Slow work days lead to me making things from scratch in Photoshop. Today's project comes from a scribble I made of the "Awesomest Logo Ever." It would replace that silly Eye of Sauron logo that Doctor Who currently has at the opening. It would have a candy apple red metal-flake shield and steel wings and cracks and chrome and lots and lots of fire.

Pretty much everything awesome you can think of.

So after a little bit of playing, this is what I came up with:

If I'd had more time, I would've added the snake and the chains and the skulls, but as you can see, it's pretty awesome as it is.

Now I'll sit back and wait for the BBC to come running with a big fat check for my awesome skillz.
