| About: | As the name suggests, this community is about cosplaying/costuming the British sci-fi show Doctor Who and relevant spinoffs. Feel free to discuss costume ideas, brag up costumes you've made, look for help with current projects, share nifty sources for replica celery, etc. All the maintainer asks is that you read the rules before joining the community. Thanks! The Rules. 1. This is a community for discussing Doctor Who cosplay. This community is concerned with the entire 40+ year history of the show. Cosplay-talk about Doctor Who (old and new), Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures is cheerfully encouraged. 2. When posting, please be polite and play nice with each other. The community moderator(s) decide what constitutes as nice. Spirited discussion is okay - name-calling and sh*t-stirring is not. 3. Please use tags with your posts. A list of tags is at the end of these rules, and may be found in the first post in the community. 4. If posting pictures, please put all pix after the first behind a cut tag. If you don't know how to create a cut-tag, read this. 4.5 For that first picture before the cut-tag, please don't post anything wider than 400 pixels. Anything wider than that could screw up a user's friends' page and that's always aggravating for them. 5. This is not a how-to-sew community for beginning sewers. If you have never sewn anything before and you're looking for tips on how to get started, we suggest you visit ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} costuming and sewing. Questions on intermediate and advanced techniques and tailoring will be accepted, as long as they're clearly relevant to Doctor Who cosplay and are tagged appropriately ("technique")6. The Maintainer will not accept "But I didn't know!" as an excuse for breaking the community's rules. If you consistently break the rules, you will be booted and banned. Tags This community favors Tags over Memories, as they're much easier to sort, and the Memories feature has a history of going off-line, which is quite irritating. Below are the tags that the maintainer suggests you use with your posts. If you think this list is lacking, make a post to the community at large suggesting a new "official" tag. If the mods like it, we'll add it. One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten - refers to a specific Doctor or the story related to that Doctor if you're lacking a character name. Please write the number, rather than using a single digit (it's easier for users to click on when sorting posts) "Character name" - if you're posting about a specific character other than the Doctor (ie, Adric, Jamie, etc) use their name as a tag for the post. Eye candy - brag up your work - or someone else's (with credit!) - with this tag. Materials - found a great fabric source? Looking for a particular embellishment? Want some tips on how to sew mirror lamé Use this tag. Patterns - if you've found a commercial pattern you wish to discuss/suggest/warn others about, or are looking for a pattern to use for a costume. Rant - self-evident. Reference - post pictures or other referential information of use to fellow members. Retailer - found a source for the perfect Turlough tie or suchlike? Share it with this tag. Scarf - because I know Whovians and a lot of you are going to post about that scarf, so it might as well have its own tag. :) Technique - share your techniques, or ask for help with same - keeping in mind that we're assuming you have a basic knowledge of sewing, already. *** Blatant plug!
