When I say vote for cruellest thing possible it's more because.... not because it was badly done but because it's so heart braking and DONNA. Also, no more Wilf. These two things, combined, are well done but damned cruel. Oh Donna, I shall miss you for you are made of win - or were.

Oh, and I picked the Sontaran due for worst episode but there ISN'T really a worst, this season had no episode that made me go 'Oh My God, NOOOOOO' or go 'yup, liked that the least' like the other seasons did.

Good! That was what I was going for!

ETA: I mean, that was the emotion I meant to capture in that option, not that I was happy to see Donna recieve that fate...

That end was just abhorrent - the worst possible fate for Donna AND for Wilf.

As to the rest...well I couldn't care less now that RTD is leaving.

And I couldn't care less about Moffat taking over because I think we'll see more of the emo relationship shite crowbarred in.

I'll give him six episodes to impress me before I finally stop watching for good.

I would honestly take the crappest Classic Who episode and enjoy it ten times more than THAT finale.

It was technobabble and fanwank - all in one package.

I thought it did a pretty good job of tying up all the loose ends, and although the regenerating/hand stuff was a bit of a cop-out, it could be a good way to be rid of Rose. It didn't quite live up to the promise of last week's episode, but it was a hell of a lot better than last year's final episode. And I think it was quite brave to end the episode on such a downer, with the Doctor left all alone again. Nice. :)

But I worry that the fact the Doctor has a semi-human clone out there will be too much of a temptation for future scriptwriters, so I wouldn't be too shocked to see Rose return yet again in the future.

Given that Ive seen a total of 7 episodes out of the whole thing (Partners in Crime, which was shite, The Library 2 Parter, Midnight and the three finale episodes) I couldn't judge which I thought was the best or whether the series was better or not.

However, I forsee the whole thing vastly improving now that Catherine Tate has gone (which was my reasoning for not watching this series anyway) but Donna's fate was very sad indeed.

The regeneration was a cop out. Read my journal entry on it...

There was nothing in Series 4 that was "up there" with the likes of "Human Nature/FoB", but then that story had been years in the writing.

But thank flip that Rose is gone along with her sexdoll Doctor.

1. I think that, overall, the series was ace. Series 4 and Series 1 are the only consistently brilliant series - 2, for me, was ruined by the Doctor/Rose dynamic and stories that were more suited to children than adults. Series 3 was good until the Dalek arc (wtf) and the final episode, but I enjoyed the rest of it despite Martha's delegation to rebound girl for the Doctor.

2. Better than last year.

3. I gave it 9, because there were one or two wobbly bits.

4. My favourite story was Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. Because the Moff wrote it, Alex Kingston starred in it, and it was sort-of about the power of books. ♥

5. It was hard to vote for a worst story because I liked all of them, so I chose "Planet of the Ood". It felt like a set-up story for the rest of the season, which it turned out to be.

6. I already knew what was going to happen to Ten's so-called regeneration, so I had no expectations for the show to live up to. Personally I thought it made a lot of sense, and helped to tie-up most of Rusty's plots.

7. I feel so, so bad for Donna and Wilf. The scene where Ten takes her memories away but she's stood there crying and begging him not to really teared me up - as did the final conversation Wilf holds with the Doctor. I hope that Wilf and Sylvia learn that Donna can do more (well, I never doubted Wilf in that respect) and encourage her to make more of herself. I'd like to see her in an SJ kind of role, like she was in "Partners in Crime".

8. The ending of Rose's arc was ace, because it tied up the lose ends and gave Rose a new direction in life now that she had found the Doctor. A lot of people are complaining and saying "well it goes to show that if you whine for long enough you get what you want", etc., but honestly...what else were they supposed to do with the clone? Kill him in cold blood? That would have pissed me off, especially with the anti-violence message from the episode. At the end of the day, it pleased the batchippers, it pleased the fans who never wanted the Doctor to say "I love you" back to Rose, and it got rid of the character completely.

9. I was talking about this with mum earlier, and I'm kind of in a tizz now because of it. Before series 4 I would tell anybody who would listen that I thought Rusty was pants and that I was glad he was leaving, but imho this series really showed that he'd pulled himself together. His stories are still a little weak (they're fun to watch but afterwards you realise that not a lot happened) but I definitely think his dialogue/directions got better. So, I dunno. I think it's time for a change for him because he seems to be getting a little too big for his own head.

10. THE MOFF IS AWESOME ALRIGHT. He did Jekyll and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and he's writing the script for the new Tintin film and omgggg I luff him. /fansquee. I'm hoping the series will take a slightly darker direction under his reign, as Rusty's at times seemed very happy-go-lucky. And really, a lot of the Old Series serials were not happy-go-lucky.

Also: I am accidentally reading a Terrence Dicks novel. WHY DID I PICK IT UP. ARGH. Shoot me, SB. D:

I see you EVERYWHERE. <3 Also, I love the "so-and-so is pants" phrase. You British types have such better slang than we do.

I don't think we'll ever see Donna again, if the writers have any integrity- any memory on her part would kill her, right? Such a pity, I thought she was the best companion yet. Not in the first two episodes, maybe, but after she got over being shrill and stroppy she was excellent. I cried so much and may or may not have cursed Rusty's mother during that scene.

...The series on the whole was decent, if not as awesome as I would have liked. Even Turn Left -apart from Rose's emo- had redeeming features. And I liked the Library arc, but the ending...it would have been a good series if they hadn't ended it like that.

I don't like Rose, I'm not particularly fond of Ten and the one companion that I've really actually liked in the new series had to be the one that couldn't be brought back. And there's me thinking that mind-wiping companions went out with Two. D:

Also? Knowing that any crossing of the Void may have a risk of a further Dalek army popping out -as well as Cybermen- why the hell do Jackie and Mickey risk it? Then Ten risks it later to drop them off, which you know, if he'd missed Rose that much, why didn't he do that at the end of Doomsday? D:

And this is not mentioning the plot hole about how Mickey originally didn't stay in the parallel for Rose. He stayed to help Jake fix post-Cyberman London. Therefore, he did indeed have a reason to go back.

Unless he'd discovered how to make a perfect society. D:

And...look, I'm not even going to go into my thoughts of the whole clone thing. D:

I'm happy about RTD leaving, although...I don't know. I didn't enjoy Blink as much as seemingly everyone else, and Human Nature/Family of Blood was good, but didn't hold my interest for that long. I'm yet to be convinced, I guess.

*secretly hopes for the Valeyard to show up next series, will almost certainly be disappointed on that count*

It would make a change from constantly seeing the Daleks and the Cybermen. And...well, there's a lot of New! Who fans that need to see the consequences of what the Doctor's been doing over the past three (I'll count Eight, because from what I can remember, he started the Time War and left Nine to finish it) regenerations. :D

They should. The Doctor's become far too complacent in the last few series (I keep wanting to use serii for the plural of series, but it can't be right, can it?) and could do with a (non-Dalek, non-Cybermen or non-Torchwood) shock to keep him on his toes.

I've never seen the old series, so what sort of consequences could show up? What's he been complacent about, exactly? I mean, he doesn't exactly have Gallifreyan law to answer to anymore.

To be fair, he never voluntarilyanswered to Gallifreyan law anyway. But it would be nice if somebody he cares about died because of his stupidity. Well, not NICE, but you know what I mean. Sadly with Steven "Everybody Lives!" Moffat in charge, I see that as unlikely.

Best story/worst story is quite difficult for me. The last 3 series have all had at least one episode that I absolutely loved and one that I absolutely hated. This series pretty much levelled out for me, with every episode having bits that I liked and bits that I didn't like.

I'm sad that Donna is gone, which surprises me given my initial feelings when I heard she was coming back full time. But Catherine Tate really proved herself as a serious actress, and if it weren't for those occasional moments when she reverts to her annoying comedienne persona I think she'd be my favourite new companion so far. She also had the most likeable family so far. I'll miss Wilf. :(

I'm unsure about the Rusty/Moff take-over. I think that a change could be a good idea, maybe a different direction for the show. And for the first 3 series Moffat's stories were consistently the best. On the other hand, I think that the reason Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead didn't wow me was because Moffat changed his style to more closely resemble Rusty, which worries me. If Moffat sticks to his own style then the next series could be brilliant. But if he attempts to imitate Rusty for fear of upsetting all the new!Who fans who like the silliness and romance then it could be awful. I really don't think there's any way to predict ahead of time which direction he'll take.

The series was fine until the finale. There was simply no point at all to Rose coming back. All she did was hunt down the Doctor and then do fuck all. Well, I suppose you could argue that she was needed to set the universe straight during Turn Left, but after that, no use for her. In fact, nobody did anything in the end, you might as well as just had DoctorDonna, DonnaDoctor and Doctor.
Still, she's gone now. With a shiny DoctorDoll as a trophy of her overwhelming specialness. Let's never bring her back ever again please?

It was quite an amusing read. Romana II's reaction to the women of England going bats over pleasure androids which looked just like the Doctor was hilarious. "They're acting like that ... over something which looks like you?" "Yes." "0.o. GTFO." Not the exact dialogue, mind, but that's how it broke down. In Four/Romana II speak. I'll look it up and tell you which story, so you can read it. Iris herself isn't in it much, if that helps.

I'm glad to see the back end of Rose, but I feel sorry for her, too. She really got screwed over. A Doctor who can get a job in an office, father lots of babies, watch Coronation Street, grow old and die with her isn't what she fell in love with. He looks like her Doctor, but is that enough? She'll be constantly reminded that he isn't her Doctor. Ouch.

Though, considering that he's got a big dollop of Donna in his head, maybe he will bully her into getting over it. Finally being able to sleep together might go a long way toward that, too! ;) Good luck to them!

I enjoyed the episode, but I kind of felt like a lot happened, but at the same time nothing much did. I guess I'd need to see it again a couple of times to work this out.
I cried like a soppy when Sarah Jane called K-9 to give Mr Smith the Tardis co-ordinates, but then I'm a big silly.

I felt really sorry for Wilf with the whole of Donna's ending. No-one actually died, but for Wilf, it seems like one of those fate worse than death type scenarios.

I was disappointed with the lack of Dalek and Davros action. Not much seemed to happen...mind, we cheered when Captain Jack got exterminated (even though we knew he'd get up again).

The Daleks in Germany yelling EX-TERMINARUNG or whatever it was made me chuckle.

I hope we've seen the last of Rose now that she has a Doctor of her very own to love and pet and call George...I doubt we've seen the last of her or the DonnaDoctor somehow.

I won't miss Rusty's lack of modesty...a newspaper article I read the other day which was an interview with RTD said he'd "watched (Journey's End) 15 times, it was so good" That attitude of his has always grated with me, I mean, it's OK to be proud of your work, but he goes over the top IMHO.

I think that's it for now.
