The Great Conspiracy
is a rather short story- I tried Wordle on it. If you're curious to see if you can figure out the story from the Wordles, you can look at them first.

Too tired to write tonight.

There was some considerable wonkiness with the LJ cuts, probably due to the fact that it was created with one rich text editor (which, personally, I liked much better) and is now being edited with a second. Consequently, I took the cuts out. Since it's such an old piece, and since LJ is doing automatic cuts anyway, it shouldn't matter that it's now cut-free. The missing piece of the FAQ has miraculously reappeared. This is wonderful since I haven't backed up either the community or my LJ in like a year. I'm running off to do an archive now.

Also, the ficathon is Thursday.

The last day of June, the Generall himself beinge set in place of judgement (and havynge the whole company browght a shore) and havynge John Thomas set close by hym, who opened a bundle of papers that were rolled up together, where in were written dyvers and sundry articles, the which, before they were reade, the Generall spake unto Master Dowghtie, who then was present before, brought thethar more lyke a prisoner then a gentleman of honest conversation, unto whom Drake gane to say, Thomas Dowghtie, yow have heare sowght by dyvers meanes, in as muche as yow may, to discredit me, to the greate hinderance and ovarthrow of this voyage, besides other greate matters where with I have to charge yow with all, and whiche yf yow can clere yowr selfe of, yow and I shallbe very good frends, whereto the contrary yow have deserved deathe.

…they toke hym and bound his armes behind hym; then he gave dyvers furyous words unto Thomas Dowghtie, as charginge hym to be the man that poisoned my lorde Essex as he thought; and then agayne, whereas Mastar Dowghtie avouched to his face that he browght hym first to the presence of my lord in Ireland. Thow, qd. he, bringe me to my lorde? loe, my mastars, se howe he Goethe aboute to discredite me: this fellow with my lord was nevar of eny estimation, I thinke he nevar came about hym; for I that was dayly with my lord nevar saw hym there above once, and that was longe aftar my enterteynement with my lorde. …

Then Mastar Leonard Vicarye, a very and assured frend unto Mastar Dowghtie, said unto hym, Generall, this is not lawe, nor agreeable to justice that you offer. I have not qd. he, to do with yow crafty lawyars, neythar care I for the lawe, but I know what I wyll do.
