| About: | This is a community to unite those who support English dubbing of anime, and who not only just support it but actually genuinely appreciate well done dubs of anime into languages other than the original Japanese, and will actively watch them with open-minded acceptance. I created this community because I know too well how much dub fans are made to feel like something of regular pariahs among the larger anime fandom community online and off, and the whole otaku/Japanophile subculture as a whole, in general. If a person so much as dares to voice a positive comment with regards to a specific dub or dubs of an anime series or film while they're socialising among other most average typical anime otaku they almost always will get immediately subjected to bullying harassment and are mocked and ridiculed for it by rabid puritanical otakus ganging up on them in herds. They get routinely get accused of not being a "true" fan, simply for not making sure to only watch anime exclusively in its "purist" form, which the elitists consider being with the Japanese audio in tact with subtitles in English, or even "purer" raw with no English translation whatsoever. Dub appreciators get treated like outcasts, like part of an out group, simply for daring to go against the larger herd mentality shared by most fans of anime/manga. Thus, why I saw the establishment of this community as being an outright necessity. This community aims to provide a refuge for those of us out there who are as outcasts within the anime fandom community and corresponding growing subculture surrounding anime/manga/all things Japanese. It is a place for us to unite and offer support to one another, and to freely and openly, without fear of being lynched by rabid otaku, be able to discuss what our favorite dubs are and who our favourite English language voice actors are working within the industry. I hope this community will only grow with many members to join it. Have fun, and please try to refrain from getting into flame-wars about certain dubs, certain actors and actresses or regarding certain series and/or films. By all means do feel free to vent your personal frustrations and rants all you want about anime fans and aspects of anime fanDUMB. You can even criticise anime itself and certain voice actors if you want, just try to ensure that your opinions and theories are all well backed up and have a set of convincing supportive arguments backing them at most times. In other words, always express criticisms in as constructive a manner as is possible, at most times. That's really the most important rule to adhere to around here. Thank you, Burning Ghost. | |
