AboutWelcome to Due South Recs Redux! This is a rec challenge community, with weekly themed challenges.
How does this work?
Anyone can post on this community, and any Due South fic, any pairing, any rating, any type, is welcome! We run on a monthly schedule, which is as follows:
We will post the new open challenge at the beginning of each week. You can post up to three recs per challenge, in sets or individually. During amnesty weeks, you can post up to three additional recs for the previous two challenges. (In other words, you get three recs per week for weeks one, two, and three.) The final week of each month is reserved for that week's designated volunteer reccer (info and schedule below). We're always looking for volunteer reccers! You can sign up to be one here.
Open Challenges:
You can post your rec(s) anytime between the announcement of the challenge and the start of the next one. Recs should match the theme of that week's challenge. New challenges will start on Mondays. During individual reccer weeks (the fourth week of each month), only that week's volunteer may post recs to the community.
When you're ready to post, first thing is the subject line. The subject line should be the title(s) of the fic(s) you're reccing, separated by commas. You can use the coding below to format your recs. For "why I'm reccing this fic," just tell us why you liked the story and why people should read it. A brief excerpt of the story is entirely optional, but if you do it, it should be under a cut (which is in the coding). If you choose not to, just take that part of the coding out. It's that simple!
If you haven't read anything that fits the challenge theme, this is a great opportunity to go out and read something new!
Monthly Volunteer Recommenders:
The last week of each month, an individual reccer will be in charge of making recommendations on a theme of his/her choice. The lucky fanperson can rec anything connected with Due South, including things other than fanfiction: episodes, meta commentary, fan art, fan vids, podfics, etc. The volunteer can make up to three posts recommending as many individual items as he/she likes. There will be no open challenge running during those weeks, although insta-recs are still okay (more below).

What if I read something this week that should be recced right away?
Everybody gets one insta-rec per week to post the comm. It can be any recently posted fic that you read and would like to insta-rec. It does not have to fit the week's challenge theme and may be posted during a volunteer week. Please mark these as follows: Insta-rec: Name of Fic.
What are these tag things?
In the interest of making this comm a resource for anyone looking for DS fic to read, we would like to have all entries tagged. The mods have created a small number of generic tags with pairings and ratings to start. It would be GREAT if people could tag their entries as they go, but we will go through and make changes and add tags. There is a list of tags on the main page of the journal as well! We are going to work with these and try to get them to be something that everyone can use and navigate.
I have a fantastic idea for a challenge. How do I let the mods know?
Just comment on any admin post with challenge ideas, comm suggestions, and any questions that you have. We will use the suggestions for future challenges, and get back to you on suggestions/questions.
I need to find a fic, can I post here?

We will be running specific challenges for the "six degrees" fandoms, but in general, recs should be for DS stories only. Crossovers with DS, however, are welcome!
