Title: "What you want"
Author:
telemicus
Written for:
alixtii
Word Count: 3,311
Rating: PG 13?
Summary: Ezri and Bashir explore their fledging relationship, and work through some identity issues.
Author's Notes: So, better late than never, here is the first fic I’ve written in years. Even though I violated Babel’s golden rules of being timely (for which I hugely apologize) I really really enjoyed writing fiction again, it’s like therapy without the stigma! Apologies to alixtii in that its more mush than smut, and apologies to anyone who particularly cares about following canon cause this story probably doesn’t. A huge thank you to
babel for the beta, I learned a lot about POV shifts :)
One last note: there were some seriously (and intimidatingly) good writers in this ficathon, and if anyone has the time or inclination, I would dearly love critique, on anything at all, grammar, plot, writing, whatever, feel free to give negative feedback, I really want to get better at writing. Thank you!

I'm so sorry that this is late! But I had some problems getting in touch with my beta reader and I just got it back from her last night. Hope you like it, and that it was worth a wait. I also apologise for the LJ usernames not being linked as they usually are, but for some reason my account insists on screwing it all up anytime I write it out and then link them as they should be.

uthor's Notes: Beta read by kmanderson and based after 'What You Leave Behind'. Also has a few minor references to 'A Stitch in Time'.

Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and NaNoWriMo, I've decided it would be best to move the deadline to December 5th. You may still start posting your stories on November 1st, I just wanted to give everyone a little extra time since there are two wide-spread events occuring around November 26th.
In short: The deadline for posting stories is now December 5th.
If you have any questions, comment here or email me at dilificus[at]gmail[dot]com.
Happy writing, everyone.

Assignments have been sent! If you have not recieved your assignment, please comment here, and I'll fix the oversight as soon as possible.
I tried to match up requests to writers as closely as possible, but there were some very challenging requests. I hope all of you enjoy writing your stories.
You may notice that I pushed the due date back one day. That's because I took a while longer to get assignments out than I meant to. Yes, the new due date is November 26th.

Rules:
1) Deadline for sign-ups is August 20th, 2006.
2) Deadline for posting stories is December 5th, 2006. (If you know of any major Star Trek fandom events that would take place around this time, please tell me, and I'll shift the date. I'm not involved in offline fandom, so I won't know.)
3) TURN YOUR STORIES IN ON TIME. Warn me if something comes up and you absolutely can't. If you don't turn your story in on time and you don't warn me first you will not be able to participate in the next ficathon. If you never turn a story in and don't warn me ahead of time you will not be able to participate in any future DS9 Ficathons. All I ask is that you can't finish your story on time or at all, warn me first.
4) Stories should be at least 500 words long.
5) Please revise your story. I recommend a beta reader, but if you prefer to do all the revision yourself, that's fine.
6) All questions should be directed to dilificus[at]gmail[dot]com (Replace [at] and [dot] with the proper symbols. It's written that way to avoid spam.)
7) You must choose at least two pairings which you are willing to write. I know that some writers have OTPs (one true pairing) or prefer to write gen, but it's impossible to match up requests and writers if everyone is overly specific about what they won't write.
Suggestions:
1) On how to handle rule 7 if you are an OTPer or gen writer. If you only write your favorite pairing, choose a pairing which doesn't conflict with your favorite and include your own pairing in the background of the request. If you prefer to write gen, make the romantic pairing a subplot to a gen-like story. A lot of people who enjoy a pairing don't mind seeing them within in a plot (in fact, some of us prefer it that way). Either way I will do my best to find a request that matches your preferences.
2) Factor in beta reading time. Get your story finished early to give your beta reader the time needed to look over your story, and to give yourself time to revise afterwards.
3) If you have serious issues finding a beta reader, contact me and I'll beta your story. It usually takes me about an hour per thousand words. Keep in mind that I have a story to write too (and, you know, real work), so don't ask unless you really need a beta reader.
