One of our main guests is "Sgt. Benton"! John Levene is our Doctor Who Guest of Honor. :) John was on Doctor Who mainly in the Third Doctor's era. Our other main guest is Tony Amendola, who is our Stargate Guest of Honor. He played "Master Bra'tac" on Stargate SG-1.

Other guests include:

Dr. Kevin Grazier (science advisor for Battlestar Galactica and Eureka)
Lars Pearson (Doctor Who author and publisher, Mad Norwegian Press)
Louis Robinson (former Doctor Who film editor)
Jana Oliver (fantasy/paranormal author)
The Atlanta Radio Theatre Company
The Mighty Rassilon Art Players
Hyperdrive

The con has three tracks: the Stargate track, the Doctor Who (and related programming) track, and a general SF track, so there's something for everyone. The schedule for panels has been updated, so do check out the site and we hope to see you there! :)

Doctor Who fandom help
At Fan History, we're trying to put together the most comprehensive history of the Doctor Who fandom on the Internet. Because the fandom is really big and diverse, the page has been broken up into several smaller subpages, including an article on Doctor Who fan fiction, a list of Doctor Who fanzines published by year, a Doctor Who mailing list creation timeline and a Doctor Who LiveJournal community creation timeline.

What we really need is help in fleshing out some sections of that history. Information is needed on non-English speaking Doctor Who fan fiction communities, history of Doctor Who slash, the effect of the CDA and COPPA on fan fiction, information on Doctor Who fan fiction archives, the transition of the Doctor Who fandom from off-line to on, history of icon making, terminology used in the community and more.

If you have been involved in the Doctor Who fandom and have any vague idea about the history of the community, if you're just interested in the topic, if you want to create a page to give a detailed history of

New to the Community!
Hi! My name is AnnMarie and I'm obsessed with Dr. Who! .... and proud of it :P
I started watching Dr. Who on a local PBS station when I was 8 or 9 and I immediately became obsessed with the show. The first episode I saw was The Pyramids of Mars. My sad story is I dressed up like Sarah Jane Smith from Pyramids for Halloween and the sad part is that nobody knew who I was! :( (I should mention that I'm in the US where Dr. Who just isn't very common ... at least where I am)

I was incredibly skeptical when I heard about the new series with Chris Eccleston, but after I saw the first episode I was hooked. Loved both seasons and I'm anxiously awaiting Season 3!

So, just wanted to say Hi to everyone and I'm looking forward to being part of this Dr. Who Community! :)

Rose is just another face in the crowd
A friend pointed me to this and I wanted to share. I have been saying all along that Rose was no more special than any other companion the Doctor ever had. (Something that was borne out when Sarah Jane reappeared and the Doctor came within a hair of telling her he loved her.)

Hi I'm Jason and I'm addicted
Hi I'm Jason. I've recently become re-addicted to Doctor Who. I realized I was addicted when I was in a meeting and people were having a big disagreement. Everyone was kind of looking at me because I had this smile on my face and I pulled out wax paper from my bag and said "Jelly Babies anyone?" To my sadness only one person go the "joke."

Squee
I have come to squee and blow my own horn.

Some of you may remember the post on April 30 asking for submissions to the fanzine "Sonic Times" that premiered at the MediaWest Con 2006 this past Memorial Day weekend.

I submitted my novel length 6th Doctor story "Trials & Transmutations," and was delighted when I learned it was accepted. When I checked the website, I discovered that it hadn't been included in the zine. Instead, it had been published as its own separate zine! 256 pages. Holy shit, Batman!

Link to the listing page just to prove I'm not making this up.

Squee.

It is my understanding that submissions for the next zine are already being accepted. So get writing, people!

Intro
Hi, I'm James (alias Phaed), and I'm a Dr. Who junkie.  (Hi, James!)

When new episodes hit DVD, I buy them the day they come out.  By importing them on Region 2 DVD to the USA.

When the new series was announced, I didn't believe Christopher could pull it off.  But now I'm a believer.

I saw the new season one within 24 hours of broadcast for each episode.  (Thanks, anonymous friends on the net!)

I want to buy a Ford Taurus, just so I can modify the back panel to say Tardis.

I even enjoyed watching the Tom Baker episodes with commercials when Time/Life released them back in the 70s.  That's how long I've been watching Who.  (OK, so I didn't know any better.)

There is no science fiction, post 1963, without Who.  All roads lead to Who.  Who currently shows just how bad the other crap on the SciFi channel really is.

Really.

Hi.

I hope this isn't against the rules or something.  I just wanted to quickly put up a little post about a new community 'Romance in a Blue Box'.  This is for any and all pairings (and multiples) for all Doctor Who eras.  Should be a bit of fun.  So, please come and join us!

Eerie
I was talking to someone about how I will be writing a story, and things will pop up in the plot that I had no intention of putting there, but end up meshing well when I decide to do a re-write. My subconscious gets ahead of me, I suppose.

Well, I was re-reading some of my stuff and suddenly realized something...eerie.

I wrote the short story "New Doctor On The Block" before seeing the final episode of the season. All the Doctor's previous incarnations are giving their opinion of the TARDIS's new look. (I personally don't like it.) The Sixth Doctor asks, "Were you in Barcelona when you did this? Design by Gaudi?"

Now, I originally wrote that as a joke. Of all the people to be talking about looking gaudy, the Sixth is the last one to talk.

Then it struck me. Where is the Doctor taking Rose at the end of "Parting of the Ways?"

All together, Whovians.

Barcelona!

Sometimes I scare myself.

2005 series, Scif Fi Channel, 9:00pm (et) Fridays, starting tomorrow, March 17th. Woo Hoo

Are you a Whovian?
I posted this as part of a round robin on the Teaspoon site. I thought it was very fitting for this community, too. With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy.

You Just Might Be A Whovian if... )

Oh dear.
I saw these comments in some reviews for a Who fic on ff.net and wanted to cry. I need support from my fellow Whovians.

I had no idea Time Lords had telepathic links,
*headdesk* Contact!

Library? On the TARDIS? Cool! Way Cool! Can I go visit?
The 8th Doctor practically lived there!

And from the Author!
The Lord Gruff-thingy idea was my friend's, sorry if it goes against anyone's theory of the Doc stealing a TARDIS.
*Puts on indignant 6th Doctor voice* THEORY! Do you know ANYTHING about established canon?

I'll be in my room watching videos if anybody wants me.

All rise for the singing of...
Did anyone else catch this?

During the Parade of Nations at the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics, when Australia was introduced, the song playing in the background was "I will survive." I nearly fell over laughing.

In the Audio Dramas, the Earth National Anthem is "I will survive."

It is mentioned in "The One Doctor," and again in "Bang-Bang-A-Boom."
