Welcome to Doctor Who Dark Fic.

What is it?
Doctor Who Dark Fic is a community for the posting of fiction and art with a darker theme and tone. This is not for stories of a light or happy note, there are plenty of communities out there for those sort of works and we applaud and laud them all. There is, however, a dearth of dark fic communities in Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures fandom, and so drwhodarkfic was born.

What defines 'dark fic'?
Good question. Dark fic is one of those genres that has as murky a meaning as it's name implies. The Doctor Who world isn't just bright and beautiful; there's evil, intricately depicted, and powerful villanous archetypes. Darkfic is fanfiction that examines where the shadows lie. It can include psychological issues, villain POVs, and unhappy endings. It is fic in which the dark side stands in the foreground. It can contain a gothic overtone and sometimes describes fury, sorrows and pain. Satisfying solutions are not always found and there are not always happy endings.

There is beauty in the darkness - and this community exists to bring that beauty into the light.

Who can join?
Anyone. This community will remain unmoderated for the time being, but depending on wank, etc, that may change.

The Rules.
1. The moderators are Gods. Their word is the law. Do not dispute with a moderator decision or you will be banned so fast you won't know what hit you.
2. No flaming. Stick to constructive critiscism, please. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
3. Nothing rated higher than NC17/R/18+.
4. NO RPF (Real Person Fiction.) This is for FPF (Fictional People Fiction) only.
5. Art and fic longer than 100 words to be placed behind a cut.
6. Crossposting is welcome.
7. Please use the provided tags.
8. No netspeak/plebe typing.
9. It is assumed that you are all over the age of majority for your location. This is not a community for people under the age of 18 or with a delicate constitution.
10. No plagarism, no defamation.

Will there be challenges?
In dwliterotica, there are monthly challenges. If you wish to write a darkfic for your challenge, you can post it here as well as dwliterotica. We may have challenges at some point, but that will depend on time and energy of your moderators.

Tips.
1. Get your work beta read. We cannot emphasise this enough. A second pair of eyes will often pick up things the writer will miss. Think you're too good for a beta? Think about this - all pro writers use editors. That's what beta readers are. They have the thankless task of editing your work. Love your beta reader, they are worth their weight in gold.
2. Please, for the love of all that's holy, don't talk in plebe or post a fic that is comprised entirely of plebe. Plebe, aka Netspeak hurts us.
3. Icons are welcome, as well as fanart, manips, fanfic, poetry, etc.
4. Want to start a discussion? Please make that clear in the subject line of your post.
