Aya Kamiki's newest album, and what an effort it is. This one's definitely my favourite of hers to date. It's actually hard to describe how awesome it is, but I'd definitely say that it's not only for old fans, but new. Those of you who've listened to and loved Aya up until now will be thrilled, and it will also succeed in drawing in new fans for her, I'm sure. ♥

If you're an Epik High fan, then you need this. And if you aren't an Epik High fan, then you need to try this. Even if you aren't too into hiphop, you might like this mini album because it isn't too hiphop, and the whole thing is very melodic and pretty - it reminds me a lot of some of the instrumental tracks that were on Remapping the Human Soul and Pieces Part One, melodic and pretty and somehow dark and sad as well.

Butterfly Effect is my absolute favourite off this. Fallin' is more of Epik High's usual fast, upbeat style. Harajuku Days is a slower, laid back instrumental piece, with a heavy beat under the piano, which is a style that I really love. 습관 is another more laidback song, and 쉿 is another instrumental track, and 1분 1초 reminds me a little bit of One. 1825 (paper cranes) is another of my favourite tracks off this, and a perfect way to wrap up the album, and if you've got the whole thing on repeat it blends almost perfectly back into Butterfly Effect.

Seriously this mini album makes me akdnflaknlgkng very happy in the pants.

[album & PVs] Katy Perry - One of the Boys

Artist: Katy Perry
Album/Single: One of the Boys
Language: English
Genre: pop
Release Date: 6/17/2008
Thoughts: Katy Perry was another thing that Missa gave to me in my long, long months without internet. XD; For that, I can only thank her. Repeatedly. ♥ Most people know Katy Perry from her hit single "I Kissed A Girl," which... is a very, very hot song. :9 Aside from that particular song (which is, I admit, my favorite~ XD), I really enjoy listening to the rest of One of the Boys. There's a lot of tongue-in-cheekness going on with most, if not all, of the songs--and the fact that Katy Perry is nice to listen to goes a long way, too. ♥ I haven't really and truly liked any English artists in quite a while, but I fell in love with Katy Perry from the start. I just hope that others can appreciate her, too~ ^^

Micro, NEWS, Lead, Seo Taiji
After forever, my complaints were finally registered and my family switched to a completely new internet company. What does this means? Uploads for you all! ♥ I'll probably be uploading even more quite soon to make up for my long months of absence. :D;;;

Enjoy and please comment if you download~~

Artist: Micro
Single/Album: Odore
Language: Japanese
Release Date: 5/21/2008
Genre: pop
Thoughts: For the first selection, I decided to upload the second single from Micro, Odore. The title track for this single also happens to be the opening for the J-drama "OSEN" and I looooooove it. My friend, Missa, gave me this single when I had no internet and I've listened to it so many times. The music and the words work incredibly well together and just--overall--it has an uplifting feeling to it. My favorite parts, though, are definitely the choruses. Just... I really do love it. ;~; ♥

download.

Artist: Lead
Single/Album: Sunnyday
Language: Japanese
Release Date: 7/30/2008
Genre: pop, hip hop
Thoughts: Lead's most recent single! :Dv .... unless they released something else in my absence that I haven't yet found. >>;; Anyway, "Sunnyday" is very much typical Lead. Not really my favorite song from them, but it's happy and bouncy and just... fun~ :3 I think that I probably like "Sunnyday (BLUE DRAGON EDIT)" better than the original, though. XD *odd* (And Akira's gotten so pretty this past year, too~ >9)

download.

Artist: NEWS
Single/Album: Summer Time
Language: Japanese
Release Date: 5/08/2008
Genre: pop
Thoughts: This was probably one of the top singles that made me throw as big of a fit as I did to get internet access again. XDXD I love NEWS (Yamapiiiiiiiiii. ♥), and Summer Time is just all-around happy and bouncy and JE-ish and makes me smile and bop my head along~~ While "Summer Time" and "EASY COME, EASY GO" are typical NEWS and JE in sound, "Liar" seems something that would come more from KAT-TUN than these boys. I like it, though; it's a different change of pace. I looooooove "Baby! Be My Baby!" I've missed my boys in all of the months that I was gone. ;o; ♥

Dong Bang Shin Gi's latest album! I wasn't too sure what to expect from this album, but I actually quite like it. I don't find it as good as their first two albums, but at the same time it's too hard to compare them, since this album is completely different to the style that Dong Bang Shin Gi started out with. Think O meets T.

I like it when artists evolve, but in this case it leaves me a little bit sad, because I absolutely adored their original sound.

This album is good though, I definitely don't consider it amazing, but it was very easy to listen to and I really, really enjoyed some of the songs. Sad as I am about the slow but steady progress away from their old sound, it's also quite nice to see a sexier, more mature side to them and their music.

I recommend all the songs I individually uploaded, but especially Wrong Number and 잊혀진계절.

For anyone who has been living under a rock in the Korean music world, M, also known as Lee Minwoo is a member of the boyband Shinhwa and also quite a successful R&B solo artist. He's got a smooth, sweet voice that make his ballads charming and heart-melting, and also something about him that make his faster songs so sizzilingly sexy, especially when you see him in action. If you like R&B then I really suggest you give M a try.

This album is quite different from the past 3. I was really excited waiting for this album, because I really loved the direction that he was going with his third album, Explore M. It was sexy, it was dripping with 'M style', and Minwoo had composed quite a few songs for it.

When I heard this album today though, I was quite disappointed. Although he's written a lot of the lyrics, he's only composed two of the songs. And to me, it's really, really obvious. Minwoo himself did mention that this album was supposed to appeal more to the masses, and god I wish he hadn't done this. It isn't that it's a bad album - it's just that it's standard.

As much as I like the Brave Brothers, they need to stop making every song they write sound like a remix of every other song they've written. Appeal to the masses, sure. But stand out? Not really.

The two songs that Minwoo did compose are ... quirky. They're different. They've got a big band kind of feel to them, a swingin' kind of jazz style going on. It isn't my kind of music at all but it's nice to hear something different, even if I don't like it.

But yeah, this isn't a bad album. It doesn't suck. It just doesn't blow me away like I was hoping really hard that it would. The first couple of tracks are my favourites from this album, but that doesn't really say too much.

I just really wish Minwoo had composed more ;__;

I really, REALLY love Michyeosseo, which features the rap of Shinhwa's Eric. It's a really cool song, really catchy and she's super sexy in the MV.

I'll be honest though, I didn't think much of the rest of this album. I found it pretty ... I don't know, standard I guess, nothing all that special. Which made me really sad, because when Son Dam Bi debuted with Cry Eye, I really thought that she was going to be an artist that I could really get into. But she's been kind of hit-and-miss with my tastes since then. D:

It's worth giving it a listen to though, especially Michyeosseo!

ZOMG DEMI'S ALBUM IS FINALLY OUTT *SPAZSPAZSPAZ* After the Camp Rock movie released, Demi Lovato was annoying, but then I listened to her debut single Get Back, because I did think she had a good voice. Was I surprised, because the girl can belt and scream (well, it's more wailing, but whatever). This album took so damn long to leak, though (Hollywood Records, you fail miserably). It's really good, almost as good as Hilary Duff's first album (which was stellar), and it proves that she's better than the future Britney Miley.

I hadn't heard much of Younha before, but when this album came out I decided I wanted to give it a try anyway, even though female vocalists are a bit touch and go for me. And omg I am so glad that I did give this album a try, because Younha has such a gorgeous voice, and this album is really, really pretty.

Her voice is a bit high but it's still quite rich and full, it's not thin, scratchy or nasally and she doesn't sound like she's sucking up the helium.

Gieok and Hero are my favourite tracks off this album. Gieok is just really pretty, and having Tablo featured is an added bonus :3 It's just a really sweet song and I really love it. Someday is pretty powerful, sort of like a really upbeat rock ballad with strings thrown in there too. I love it XD

So please give Younha a try :D

asdkmslfknsdlgnslkgnld!!! Finally it's here, FTIsland's second album, Colorful Sensibility! I am such a fan of these boys, they are so great :3

If you don't know of FTIsland already, they are a five member band that play sort of pop, sort of rock type music. There's Hongki on vocals, Jonghun on lead guitar, Wonbin on guitar, rap and second vocals, Jaejin on bass and Minhwan on the drums. They're quite young (16-18), but they're really, really talented and they are SO loveable.

If you're familiar with Buzz or izi, their sound is similiar to those.

This album stays true to FTIsland's signature style - light, cheerful and happy most of the time - but there's something about it that makes it sound a lot fuller, richer and more mature than their debut album from last year. Hongki's voice is as gorgeous as ever, strong and clear, he's great at singing upbeat songs and sad ballads alike. Wonbin gets to sing more as well, which I'm really happy with since he's my favourite XD

I really recommend that everyone give these guys a try if you haven't already :3 (And don't let their young ages put you off! There's some serious talent you'll be missing out on if you do.)

This is also one of the very few albums that don't have one song that I hate. Seriously, almost every single album of every single band I've ever enjoyed, has had one song that I simply cannot stand. On FTIsland's first album, it was Primadonna. But there is nothing at all on this one that I hate XD

I obviously recommend every track that I uploaded, but out of them all I most recommend the first one, Saranghuae (Huae), and the last one, Train. Train is perhaps my favourite track on the entire album. Sarangira Boreuneun Ireum and Troublemaker are two of the more upbeat tracks on this album.

[SINGLE] Aya Kamiki - Summer Memories

Artist: 上木彩矢 / Aya Kamiki
Single: Summer Memories
Language: Japanese
Release Date: 2008.8.6
Genre: rock

Tracklist:
1. Summer Memories [MU]
2. I'm your side [MU]
3. Summer Memories (Instrumental)

Credits: japan-roll@blogspot

I have to say - this one surprised me. Aya's always been easily recognised for her stylin' girl-rock sound, rarely dabbling in ballads, and even when she has given ballads a go in the past, they've been upbeat sort of ballads, the sort you'd expect from a girl with her musical style.

Summer Memories sounds more like something Ito Yuna or Koda Kumi might pull out on a ballad day.

That is by no means saying it's a bad thing. Actually, it's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. If this is the way Aya's gonna go to hit the big time, I'm not going to complain.

(The B-side, for those who are wondering, is typical Aya fare. XD)

What else can I say? Enjoy!

MAY is one of my recent little obsessions. She's a Korean singer that has released in Japan. I heard of her when she first came out with her single "WONDERLAND", and I adore it so much. I never really got to listen to her debut album until a few days ago, but I love it! She mostly composes around the acoustic guitar area of pop, and I love her light, airy voice. Her voice is cute and sweet.

The fifth track is a cover of F.I.R.'s song of the same name. She's apparently a fan of F.I.R. since she's also done a cover of Lydia on one of her singles (there's also a PV of it on youtube).

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I have been dying waiting for this XD And of course it leaked half an hour after I went to bed last night -___-;; but it made for something incredibly awesome to start my day off with this morning!

Although I've known of Big Bang since their first singles, I was never really all that interested. I used to joke that they were "gangsta pop" - something which I still say, but not quite so mockingly these days. When they released Always a year ago, that's when I started to really take notice of these guys. They are awesome, and if you haven't tried them yet then you really should. They're a great mix of hiphop, R&B, dance, pop and electronica, and incredibly talented. I find them to be one of the least manufactured boybands around at the moment - these guys can play instruments and T.O.P and G-Dragon are both excellent song writers. That's what I love most, when singers actually become songwriters and make music instead of only doing what they're given by someone else. I have total respect for that, more than most other things.

This is Big Bang's third mini album, and my love for these guys has done nothing but get bigger and bigger in this past year so much so that right now I'm pretty much exploding with love for these guys XD Stand Up has totally met my expectations, this is a great mini album.

Haru Haru is the main track, and omg. I love it. Written by G-Dragon, it's reminiscent of Geojitmal / Lies, which was the song that made me sit up and take notice. And the MV for it ... omg. Talk about mangst (manly angst XD). If you're only going to try one song from this mini album, then try Haru Haru.

And if you're a fan of punk band No Brain, you'll want to give Oh My Friend a listen XD I seriously did not think that No Brain and Big Bang could go together (punk and hiphop?!), but they've proved me wrong with that. Totally different from Big Bang's usual style but I love how these guys aren't afraid to experiment and mix it up with new things.

You can find a totally awesome review of the whole album over here on KoME. And not by me, so you don't have to read my !!!1111-ness xD

I've been a fan of Hinouchi Emi ever since she released this album, and I was devastated when she disapeared from the Jpop scene for awhile (mostly doing back-up vocals for Heartsdales). However, she came back last and this year with three new singles. Emi is mostly a R&B-pop singer. :) For some reason, all of the versions of this album I could find on the internet only had 1-14, and the last track was "Get up!" instead of the Crazy Ken Band version of "Magic". This should be the right tracklist :). Her music is mostly a lighter, poppier R&B sound.

This is Cheon Sang Ji Hee's first Korean album. I like this album a lot more than Graceful 4, the Japanese album they released a few months after this one.

This album's got a good mix of faster songs and slower songs, dance driven pop songs that capture their energy and slower, pretty ballads that really show off those voices of theirs. It's just a really good, solid album, and I think it's really worth checking out if you haven't heard Cheon Sang Ji Hee before. They really are one of the few girl bands that I enjoy ^^

Favourites on this have to be Hanbeon Deo, OK? (the file itself is named wrong but labelled right, sorry!), which is just awesome even if the beginning always does confuse me because it sounds just like the start of Dong Bang Shin Gi's 'O'-Jung.Ban.Hap, and RENEW is also a pretty cool song. Anigireul (Not To Be) is one of the ballads, it's so so pretty, and Haruman (Just For One Day) features Super Junior's Kyuhyun in another pretty ballad.

Sorry for the lack of romanization. My kanji isn't exactly stellar, and I make a lot of careless mistakes when reading katakana, so I've restrained myelf from romanizing this tracklist. If anyone wants to take a jab at it, go ahead XD. In any case, Miyamoto Emiri is a classical violinist that has trained in Germany. I first
