Hey all! Just found this LJ community, hoping you guys can fill me in. I'm going to be moving out to LA in a few days from the east coast. I'm familiar with Dr Sketchy's NY but don't know much about the LA branch - are you guys still active? What part of the city do you usually meet in? |

Pardon the bandwidth but ...
Ladies and gents, I have accepted an offer from a company in Huntsville, Alabama. I will be packing and preparing to move around the first of July and reporting to work mid-month. This is the opportunity I've been needing to get back on my feet and I won't let it go to waste.
I will be looking to get together with my friends and associates in Los Angeles before going. I don't know how big or involved this get together will be but I would love to see as many of you as possible. It may be associated with a show if I can find one willing to host it. Any suggestions?
If I don't get to see the folks at Doctor Sketcky's LA again, I wanted to bid you all a fond farewell. It has been a wonderful experience. |

| | Collide - Complicated (Live at the El Rey) | ] | As you may have noticed, Live Journal is taking nominations for a user advisory board. It could be useful or it could be completely lame. At this point the only way to know is to try to be elected to the position. If nominated and subsequently elected, I will work to keep the new owners of LJ and Six Apart from ruining the community that LJ has become. I'll also try to suggest ways to improve the friending system, improvements in which moderators can manage their communities better, and improvements to the (horrid) LJ Gallery system. Most people who have seen me actively involved or managing very communities will agree that I've been a mellow and very responsible moderator or member.
This is where I ask for your support. It only takes 100 votes to nominate a candidate. Fortunately this campaign only lasts for a month or so.
LiveJournal Advisory Board Elections I support jj_maccrimmon to be my representative on the Advisory Board. Show your support at lj_election_en.

| | Z.O.N.K. - Nervous, Excited, Delighted | ] | As some of you have seen, I’ve been on a tear going through new photos. There’s been one set of modeling shots, I’ve been fighting with, adjusting and slowly editing since the shoot occurred. One of the most incredible performers and models I’ve ever photographed is Victoria Vengeance. Her acts are usually dark and a bit macabre, but her presence on stage or before the camera is electric. Because I was aware of the camera problems when I photographed this session, I took over 300 images in order to get about close to 100 good useable ones. I consider this was the best session I’ve ever photographed to date, and mean that in absolutely no disrespect to any of the other models I’d had the opportunity to work with.
Madame Vengeance Imagine the ‘fortune teller’ booths found in the arcades and amusement parks of old. They’ve been the sources of inspirations for movies and stories. What happens when the fortune teller comes to life?

( NSFW: Seeing into the future [15 highlights behind the cut] ) ( Artists at Work [6 behind the cut] )
An insight: As I was going through the photos I also realized a comment I made to someone was not correct. While chatting with someone, they questioned why I primarily shoot female models. In frustration (but certainly not in clarity) I mentioned that I didn’t feel comfortable shooting modeling photos of (gay) men. The discomfort is not social or sexual, it’s photographic differences how to record the subject. Photographing male models really involves using different sets of angles, lighting filters and motivations. In concert, it’s easy to catch the energy and essence in a photograph. When I went back through show, modeling and burlesque sets, my photography seems to be 55% female and 45% male, so I guess the concern is more in my head than in my lens. |
