Hello all!

This is Cat Ellis, you friendly neighborhood Drink n’ Draw Coordinator!  You may remember me from such comics as Flaccid Badger Wants an Apple, or maybe just other drink and draw events.:’}

I’m writing to tell you all to prepare for not one, not two, but THREE, yes THREE glorious Drink and Draw events in a ROW!  Can you believe it?  So whip out those calendars and mark down these dates!

MARCH 21st!

APRIL 11th!

MAY 9th!

We’ll still be meeting at Madison’s, and the time is still the same as well.  8pm if I’m not mistaken…(someone correct me if I’m remembering wrong)

So, come!  Bring a friend!  Bring pencils, pens, and a sketchbook!  We’ll bring some paper as well, just in case.  Just get ready to have a good time. :’}  See you there!

This Sat August 30th at 8:00 p.m. at our usual place (Madison’s) we’ll be having yet another drink and draw.   No special tricks or gimmicks for this one, just good ol’ fashioned Sketching whilst alcoholically liquidating.   Please spread the word to the Portland art folk.  We hope to see you there.

I was supposed to post this like a week ago and it slipped my mind, sorry! For any Seattlites who may be looking at this, the first ever Seattle Drink-n-Draw is tonight, hosted by Calamity Jon and the Mighty Adam!

Sat April 19th was the (now) annual Portland Drink and Draw Pre-Stumptown Jam Poster Party…     

Everybody seemed to have a good time, and Jam Posters both conceptual and interpretive were brought into this world with the aid a few stiff drinks…  just like most of the artists creating them (probably).  Here are some shots of the evening as well as some of the acutal work…    

The next Drink and Draw’s date is still TBD but we’ll post it here once we know.  Check back for updates and more art from your friendly local (if you live in Portland, OR) Drink and Draw!

O.k.

After all the reminding and annoying emails I’ve already sent here’s another one.   We had to move the Drink and Draw date to the 19th.  Cosmic Monkey’s 24 hour comic date is the same day (the 5th-6th) and there were people who wanted to attend both events.  In the spirit of comics community love we certainly didn’t want to potentially create a siphoning of folks for one event or another.  We re-confirmed with Madisons yesterday and now have the 19th at the same time.  This date also fits into the Stumptown Comics Month Calendar with no other conflicts.  Sorry for the late notice (we just found this out last weekend and had to wait for the re-confirm with Madisons to announce things.) and sorry again if the date change proves to be an inconvienance.  We did this out of respect for the fine folks a Cosmic Monkey (they sell us our drug of choice and as any addict will tell you…  don’t piss off your dealer.)

But for now and the future this will be the new place for all things Drink and Draw…

We’ve scheduled the next Portland Drink-N-Draw for Saturday, April 5th at 8:00.

We have a special activity this month:

THE DRINK AND DRAW PRE-STUMPTOWN JAM POSTER PARTY!!!!

simple rules…

1.) You arrive with a piece of paper (any size) with a drawing of yours in the center (a character or concept of your choosing, but ideally not taking up too much space).
2.) You pass the paper around and let other people draw their interpretation of your drawing / theme on the rest of the page
3.) you take home a cool poster with a lot a talented peoples art on it…

This year for those who will be allow it.. we’re going to take some digital photos at the end of the night to put the posters up on the new PDX Drink and Draw site at www.portlanddrinkndraw.com! As always, if you don’t want to participate in the poster-ing you can still just come and enjoy the wonderful combination of comic people/sketching/and booze.

Come get into the Stumptown Spirit!!!

The event will be held, as usual, at Madison’s Bar and Grill at 1109 SE Madison St, Portland OR 97210. We have a table reserved upstairs, so come on up. 8.5×11 copy paper will be provided, please bring any other supplies you will want!.

Sorry for the late reminder. 

We’re having this month's Drink ‘n Draw of the year tonight,  Saturday, March 1st,  at Madison’s, at 1109 SE Madison St. at 8:00.  We have a table reserved upstairs.

As usual, this event is open to all (assuming you’re old enough to go to a bar!)  We will provide 8.5×11 copy paper, you’ll have to bring any other art supplies you’d like to have.  It can be fun to have a themed page to hand around to everyone so you’ll end up with a fun jam poster at the end of the night, so think about that.

We’re shifting to the first Saturday of the month for this year, so we’re also announcing the next Drink ‘n Draw for April 5th.  Mark your calendars!

And for this session I was hoping to experiment with something some of us old time Sequental SCAD students used to do in college... a JAM POSTER SESSION!!! This will be optional of course, but if you wish to partake, just bring a standard Bristol sheet with something drawn in the center (a character, or a scene... preferably something simple.) Then everyone passes the board around and draws their version/interpretation of whatever you've drawn. At the end of the night you get to take home a piece with lots of cool peoples art on it. If not though than feel free to come and sketch or just hang out and drink and talk about whatever. Please spread the word to anyone you feel like as this is a totally open thing (they don't even have to draw... we get some of those non art folks all the time... it's fun to stare at them and make them feel weird.)
