Dead Beat

Okay, I just finished Dead Beat, and does anyone else think that the series has been turned way dark? Not saying that it's a bad thing, just thinking that it's not a lighthearted as it used to be. And WTF is up with Murphy and Kincaid?? That is SOOO not right!! I did enjoy the bit about Bob's past though, and I really enjoyed the "Bob to the rescue" scene with the T-Rex, very cool. Also, anyone have any ideas about what's up with Mouse? I really don't think that he's a normal dog, even for a Tibetean Guard Dog, or whatever he is.

I do indeed think the series has gotten pretty dark. But it doesn't really bother me - and Dresden certainly wisecracks and jokes as much as always.

And my bet is on Mouse just being a normal Tibetan Foo Dog, but Tibetan Foo Dogs being themselves not quite mundane. Imbued with some kind of neat magic or something. But I could be totally off; I've been there before.

It has gotten darker, and in some ways that makes me sad, but just so long as Harry and Murphy get their act together and get together, I don't care. It's just as funny and well-written and interesting as ever, so I love it.

Mouse came from a very interesting litter that Harry had to burn down another building to save, he's gotta be special in some way.

Ooc: Well, foo dogs are the magical lion dog temple gaurds of myth, so he's obviously special.
And I think that the darker tone just makes the humor shine out all the more, making it more sad, yet sweet. Bah, sentimentality again. =P
