This is like the 3rd time I want someone to NOT confirm that my interpretation is correct. This is Yanagi Kotaro's most recent blog entry. And it's suppsoedly about a "love call." Yeah. Yanagi. And love. Those two words used to not go well together. But anyway, see for yourself:

Hi!! I have a few questions to ask the people here!!

I was wondering which online japanese dictionary is the best, and which ones you guys use (I gave my dictionary to my sister since she is studying Japanese in uni).

Also what do your parents or family think of you translating or doing fansubs for free. I told my family about what I am doing (and it's for the greater good). And they are like "You are doing things for FREE????" and I just managed to backup what I am doing saying "It's to practise my japanese" which I find a bit lame but true .... >_<

Anyways, any advice will be great!!! =D

Hello peeps, how's it going?

I need to go to work in like, 4 minutes. XD But here's a quick update.

1. Pearlz, I'm done rough timing Ya Na Gi 02. Whee! Actually, I've finished RTing it for a while now, but I just had no time to post.

2. Kerensa, I overslept so I wasn't able to dl from Emule, but I'll try again this Sunda. T_T

3. Shout-out to Boom, how's the typesetting going?

4. And Vian, how's RB? I hope your laptop's okay now. ^^

I'm going to hold a contest for you guys. Will post about it soon. Something about accumulating points til December (through projects done) and having a prize. By prize, I mean a worth it mailed to your doorstep prize (because I should be earning a good sum of money by then).

seiret told me to introduce myself, so I'm just following orders. To be honest, I wasn't originally a part of the group, but seiret asked me if I could maybe help out with a project, and I said sure, if I can. Apparently that meant I was accepting a post in the group. Not that I'm complaining, I think forming a fansub group is a good idea, and I'd be happy to help out any way I can.

My name is Alex, although most my online friends just call me 'Aoi' as that was the name I went by when online nicks were a must, and giving out real names on the internet were a huge NO-NO. (Nowadays, I noticed, here on LJ, most people use each other's real nicknames when talking to each other, so, yeah, 'Alex'.) I'm 19, turning 20 this August, and yes, I know most of the people in this group in real life. (I hope everyone else doesn't feel out of place, though, because of that?)

Apparently, my official role in this group is 'timer' but if I can do other things for the group, I'd be willing to. As for interests, uh, I've pretty much stopped watching anime, but I'm still all for reading manga. I'm a HUEG shoujo manga hor, although it seems lately, since I haven't really been racking up on new titles, bluesonnet is taking over that title.

I watch tons of dramas, my absolute favorite being Gokusen (although the manga PWNZ the dorama in more ways than one, I tell you) and if you toss me anything with Matsumoto Jun and Nakama Yukie in it, I'll definitely swallow it up (which is why Hana Yori Dango and TricK are also on the favorites list). Anything with Shibasaki Kou, Inoue Mao, Ueno Juri, Tsumabuki Satoshi, Eita, Abe Hiroshi and Tamayama Tetsuji would probably make it on my to-watch list too.

I also watch a lot of Western TV (Veronica Mars, House MD, Friday Night Lights, Doctor Who and a whole bunch of others; Buffy the Vampire Slayer will also never be forgotten). I guess that'll be all for now. :)

I've sent a rough timing guide to the timers, but if anyone else wants to have it, tell me so I can send you. (Although I still have to check it, because I think I wrote that in Filipino). Or maybe, I'll just make a .swf file for easier access. ^^

Updates and a Late Introductory Post

Gomen, minna. I got sick, and I haven'r fully recovered yet. Sorry for causing the delays.

I only got to time during my waking hours (I HAD to rest, I want to get to work tomorrow! Yes, I am the type of person who would exhaust herself for money XD), so I only sent the fine-timed script to chibi_boom now. I'm really sorry.

I am inserting a poll at the end of this entry on whether we should continue RabuKon after releasing Ep 1 or not. In my opinion, I really think we shouldn't because KissSub is already on it, and there are other things we can sub out there. (RabuKon isn't exactly a left-over anymore, and while we do sub things that aren't left overs, there are still vids that are yet to be accomplished in our list.) Anyway, that's only my opinion. We should decide as a group. I'm looking forward to your votes. ^_^

Pearlz, I am so sorry, I had to finish Rabukon first since we're trying to release ASAP (because KissSub has already released Ep 1). But I'll be working on Ya Na Gi after this post.

Okay, that said, here's my introductory post.

Hi, I go by the name, "seiret." I'm the self-proclaimed manager of dregss. LOL. MOstly ebcause I go scout for people and projects. ^^;; That's why I think all of you know me to some extent.

I'm 20, Filipino, and I used to have a lot of free time. Til I started working recently. To make things clear, I am studying and working at the same time. My schedule right now is that I go to class from 10-1130, travel to another city and work there from 2-11 PM. Whatever free time I have left, I devote to dregss. That's how serious I am about this fansubbing group. And though we are new, we're quite stable than our first few months.

chibi_boom, crux_australis, aoimidori, bluesonnet,sisteena, and I are friends IRL. We go to the same university, so transferring files isn't really hard for us. ^_^

I hope we all get along and make a fansubbing group that can contribute something to the fansubbing world.

That said, I would like to ask aoimidori to make us a kick-ass lay-out before I announce the existence of this lj to public. I'm making all the official dregss mems as mods, to maintain this site. Aside from that, IRL friends, we're having training on Saturday. Nobody dozes off until we finish (it'll be pretty quick, I promise).

Oh, and a question: I can't seem to make a sticky post for this comm. Why?! XD jdramas has a sticky post after all. How do I make one? The usual backdated entry doesn't work. >_< (Sorry if the question seems dumb)

Hi everyone!!! My name is Vian, I am currently working full time in Hong Kong and I love it! This is also my first time translating a whole drama from Japanese to English, I have done summaries before for other dramas (namely DD Boys at d_boys)

I've studied Japanese for as long as I can remember and I plan to pass Japanese Proficency Test Level 2 this year (I failed at the vocab part last year T_T) This time I will definitely pass!!

Please support me and correct me if I do make mistakes because sometimes trying to hear a character speak is hard especially when they speak very fast!!! ^^

My name is Kerensa. I'm in my early 20's attending college to be a Teaching English as a Second Language teacher. Actually TESL is my minor, English is my major, but I'm not getting a teaching license in English. My second language is Japanese (go figure). I hope that, before I graduate, I am able to attend at least one semester in Japan in a study abroad program. By the looks of it, it seems I will have a chance to do so Spring semester of 2008-2009. It'll tack on a semester to my graduation time, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

I first got interested in the Japanese language when I was 14 years old(I'm in my early 20's now). One of the kids I was babysitting had collected Japanese Pokémon trading cards. I looked at the writing on the cards and became instantly in love with it. From 14 to around 18 I copied what was written on the cards. I attended a Japanese class in high school but it was taught by a Japanese woman who had no background in teaching so I didn't learn all that much.

If I make mistakes please correct me! I want to know why a translation was wrong and what I misinterpreted. どうぞよろしくお願いしますね！がんばります！ヽ(´―`)ノ

Here's how d.r.e.g.s.s. chooses what to fansub:
Somebody says, "I want to sub this."
And that's usually it. ^_^

So if ever you want something subbed in English, just post it in here, and as long as you have your timers and typesetters that agree with you then it's a done deal! Simple, right?

Oh, I'm gonna learn typesetting so I can typeset for other projects since currently we only have Boom as our typesetter.

BTW, your positions are not fixed. If you want to do this on a certain project, that on another, as long as there's no conflict, then it's fine.

Just remember, d.r.e.g.s.s. was created because of fans who say, "I want this subbed in English. How come there's no one subbing it?" Thus, supporting each other with what one wants subbed is very important... otherwise, that title would just be another dregs in the unsubbed blackhole of the non-English speaking universe. (What?)

PS. I've been sitting in the same chair facing the same computer for 8 hours. Me want more students. TT_TT (It's my first day on the floor,)

Hi! I'm Nice (yes, I am).

Let's not talk about academics. LOL. Just joking. I'm in my 3rd year in college (that's counting the years that DO count XD). Anyway, I'm currently working part-time, but my afternoons are free (if there's no practice for gigs).

I'm still in the process of learning how to sub (like, the different aspects of it) and I hope you'll be patient with me! I'll be either QC or typesetter (once I get the hang of it), or both.

Never mind the lay-out, let's do something about that later. For the meantime, I created this journal for team-building, and so that we can update each other easily.

BTW, here is my official say for LC: Let's finish subbing 1, before we decide whether to continue it or not since KissSub is already subbing it. I'll also e-mail KissSub later.
