A message to independents and unsatisfieds [07 Oct 2008|10:39am] tenmazero It's getting nasty out there lately, with the most vicious attacks of the election season culminating in an orgy of negativity over the last month of the election. With all this mud flying, it's easy to think we're forced to choose the lesser of two evils, and that's unfortunate because it leaves voters feeling unsatisfied. The antidote to this is knowledge. You have to do your own fact checking rather than taking the attacks at face value, and research your choices to decide which candidate is best going to represent the issues you care about. To that end, here's a couple of impartial sources of information to keep in mind. FactCheck.org - Often cited by both campaigns, they break down the exaggerations and lies and expose them for what they are. AP Politics - The Associated Press lives or dies on its reputation for impartiality, and as long as you avoid Ron Fournier, they usually live up to it. They have assembled a Guide to Each Candidate's Issue Positions that should be must-read information for every voter. post comment

Раскаляя сознанье, подгоняя мерки, Раздвигая рамки, учащаа пульс. И вкус воздуха горький, но терпкий Меня растворяет, но я не боюсь. Расходятся швы, кровоточат раны, По коже бежит истерический шок. Я закрываю глаза слишком рано, Но не закрыть их уже я не мог... я написал, что "вообще очень не нравится", и что это наркоманский бред. юлиана обиделась на меня, и сказала ещё, что я все её идеи обсираю. а я сказал, что это противно. дословно: если бы ты была наркоманкой, а я бы принимал это в тебе, то было бы всё замечательно, и стих мне, возможно бы и понравился. - это раз. ты хотела адекватной оценки - вот тебе адекватная оценка. конечно, я бы мог сказать что-нибудь типа "о, прикольно, классно!", но это не было бы правдой. я с тобой честен, и говорю, как есть. потому что честь - это одна из главных составляющих настоящей дружбы. короче говоря, долго с ней спорили на эту тему, в итоге просто закрыли её. хотя, юлиана пообещала писать стихи специально для меня, и будет писать их до тех пор, пока мне что-нибудь из них понравится. сомнительная идея, по-моему... ну да ладно. вообще, я крайне скептически отношусь к таким стихам. не хочу никого обидеть, но для меня они все одинаковы - все в свои школные годы (или позже) пишут одно и то же - часто кривым слогом - о любви - о "тебе", о том, что любовь вся такая большая-большая, и "рвёт в клочья", и "готов для тебя...", и бла-бла-бла-бла-бла.... или о смерти - о суициде, о том, какая жизнь плохая и несправедливая, и, опять же, бла-бла-бла.... писать о том, как белый порошок растворяет разум - это не есть хорошо, я так считаю. с таким же успехом можно писать о педофилии и убийстве детей, о кишках и кровище и в таком духе. я не говорю о том, что я настаиваю на тематиках типа "как всё хорошо, давайте радоваться жизни..." или что-то такое, я говорю о том, что проще надо быть. не знаю, столько мыслей по этому поводу в голове, всего не напишешь. вот я. я прекрасно знаю, что стихи писать не умею - вот и не пишу. был у меня один стих, года полтора, по-моему, писал я его и выкладывал тут в жж. что-то там про супернову и "мысли какие-то там отчасти логичны" - такой набор словосочетаний в рифму больше, чем стихотворение. получилось ничего так :) но, если бы я попытался написать ещё что-то, то, точно знаю - ничего хорошего бы уже не вышло. поэтому и не берусь. 2 comments|post comment

П: хорошо, пусть я буду крышкой от унитаза. крышка от унитаза хотя бы полезна, в отличие от дивана в стиле барокко! только вот я точно знаю, что ты никогда в жизни не видела диванов в стиле барокко. Question of the Day [07 Oct 2008|08:41am] omahastar Today's Question ... Have you ever done something because you read about it in a book first? My answer - Yep. I read a book late last year; the main character often referenced her Word a Day calendar, then used the word in speech. I saw one of those calendars in the calendar store and have it on my desk. It's not always the easiest thing, trying to get one of those words into normal conversation. Then again, some days it's all too easy. I'd post piccies but no time...plus the poor thing has big painful blisters on her heels from her hike on Sunday and that means she's had to go shoeless for a couple of days, meaning if we want to go out (such as the required grocery shopping today) she needs to be carried around. This means everything is going slower than usual, making me busier than expected. Let's hope they clear up by her party on Saturday. Yesterday we picked up hummus from Trader Joe's. Now that's good. Fooooood. I love it. I've been really busy lately. Can't say why. Must be something about October. As a fan of the Internet it's very surprising that I wasn't on very much at all this past weekend. I checked my email once on Saturday and that was it. My laptop went untouched. My legs are sore. It's likely from the fact that I ran half a mile yesterday with no regards to stretching. I'm such a buffoon. And I'm really out of shape. I started to get a stitch in my side so fast. Walking up the stairs at school today was no fun. I haven't progressed at all. =0 post comment
