There's a brief blurb about Deborah, but it basically amounts to "She dresses strangely for the time period oh who could this mysterious woman be?" Then there's some blurbs about Papas, Bianca and the rest of the characters from the original versions. There's some information on the Casino games (PACHISI FROM DQ3 IS BACK YES), they include: Pachisi (YES YES YES), Slime Racing, Poker, Slot Machines, and the Monster Battle Arena. Then there's a bit about the Metal King.

Dragon Quest V Trailer.
You know how the DQ series eventually somehow gives names to some of their Hero characters in their games? Like how DQ1-3s heroes are just called the decendants of Erdrick (assuming all the heroes after the DQ3's hero, Erdrick are all named Erdrick down the line), DQ7's hero is called Arus in the anime and manga in Japan, and in the DQ8 demo the hero is named Eight, and in DQ6 (according to wikipedia) the hero is called Shujinko in Japan. Have there ever been names for the other heroes?

And what order does the Zenithian Saga take place in? Some sources say 5-4-6, others say 4-5-6

And is there a finished rom of DQ6 out there? One that I can play in english and complete all the way without it crashing or at least letting me read all or most of the important text in the game so I can know what to do?

Dragon Quest V DS will feature a new character.

If you've played the original versions, you'd know that their are two prospective brides for the hero: Bianca and Flora. The DS version is giving the player a third option in Deborah:

And, again, if you've played the original version, you'd know that the game heavily favors Bianca as the "correct" choice. The PS2 version tried to give the Hero and Flora some sort of a backstory together, but it still heavily favored Bianca. I'm really, really hoping that the DS version tries to give equal footing for all three girls.

Square Enix's fan community site has plenty of Final Fantasy attention, but it is severely lacking in Dragon Quest loving. Right now, members can submit comments to the site for potential improvements. I mentioned that I want Dragon Quest content-- especially any news regarding the possibility of Dragon Quest IV - VI DS remakes making it to America. I encourage you all to leave similar comments on that site.

Everybody with a Wii needs to go buy Dragon Quest Swords this wednesday. If it sells enough Square Enix might make American versions of DQ4-6 for the DS. Do the right thing.

Hey, have you guys checked out Square Enix's site for Dragon Quest Swords? I love the video that plays on its home page. The girl grabbing the Wii from the boy's hand cracks me up.

DQ8?

I admit the answer to this question is probably, "Just try it!" But basically I'd like to know if DQ8 is worth it, and what your thoughts on it are. My new roommate has a PS3, and one of the first things I did when he moved in was buy a used copy of DQ8. (Yes, I know it's a PS2 game. I don't own one of those, either. ;) )

I then played for 35 minutes and had exactly one battle. Against three slimes. Seriously. Is this even Dragon Quest anymore? I don't want 30 minutes of storyline and dialogue and voiceovers. I don't want 100% action, either, but I was seriously bored to tears by the time I left the first town. I'm pretty sure you can start roaming the countryside and picking fights in DQs1-5 in less than 5 minutes.

Maybe it's just new rpgs in general. I just can't get excited about these things anymore. :(
