Convention guide for Dragon*Con!

Hi there! I've written up a short guide to the Dragon*Con convention, but there's one thing missing... your input!

More specifically, I would love to have testimonials, fans I can feature (especially if you're the type to cosplay, so I can include pictures of you in your outfit!), and heck, even if you're selling something there, I'd love to hear it! I'm trying to add new stuff leading up to the convention, and the more that's there, the more useful it'll be for everybody!

Even if you don't want to do anything special to it, there's plenty of places on the page where you can vote for your favorite Dragon*Con pictures, talk about what you're going to do there, and all sorts of little things that will just make it better!

Just like last year I am willing to let people pick up at the con to cut down on shipping costs [you will have to pay beforehand]. In the same vein I am NOT willing to try and hunt you down all weekend so if you think you are going to be hard to reach please don't pick that option. :D

Does anyone need someone to provide some extra spending money by allowing me to sleep in their room? A space on the floor would be great - I'll just bring a camping mat. You'll hardly know I am there except for the extra money in your pocket. I don't plan on sleeping too much - but will shower once a day so no worries about having a smelly room mate.

I run clonepod.org and we were selected as a nominee for a Parsec award - and I didn't know until recently. Now I REALLY want to go! Please help me out and line your pockets with gold.

1. Do I need to preregister for gaming at D*C? I saw somewhere that games are blocked out into four-hour chunks, which makes it seem very organized. Does everything (RPGs, LARPs, etc.) involve preregistration?

So, I was fortunate enough to see the Crüxshadows live in concert here in Copenhagen. And despite having changed half their line-up since the last time I saw them, at Dragon*Con 2007, they are still great. We got a good concert to look forward to!

Hello all you crazy geeks, freaks, and fans of culture in America! Tis I, the kabuki fan-dancing Oni!

When last we parted I was heading out to Sasebo, Japan to serve in the U.S. Navy. At the moment I'm in Surabaya, Indonesia; where the skies are blue and the exchange rate is $100 = ONE MILLION RUPIAH! Highly enjoying myself, really. Well then, on to business.

So I hear you're getting MSI to come and play at the con. Figures they'd show up the one time I wouldn't be able to make it. I'm sincerely going to miss being at my all-time favorite convention, not to mention my longest-attended one. I doubt I'll make it next year either, or the year after that as well.
You see, I'm forward-deployed. We make it to home port maybe two months out of the year; the rest of the time we're bumping all over the western pacific. There's NEVER a day off with this one. But in three years I'll be put on shore duty and maybe then I'll be able to afford (in more ways than one, plane tickets back home are INSANE) to come and attend D*C once more, and wave my giant fans around like a loon and pass out in odd places due to lack of a room.
I'm looking forward to it, though...rest assured, I'll have LOTS of stories to tell; and I'll be buying some japanese instruments as well so you might see more than just kabuki when I return!

Until then, I'm thinking of everyone and hoping you're all well; and that somebody'll raise a toast to me at some point and/or time in my memory! YAAAAAAAAAAAR!

MARTA Tips...

I've noticed a lot of MARTA talk, so I thought I would provide a bit of advice from someone who rides daily...

First of all, if you're in from out of town and plan to commute using MARTA for more than just rides to the airport, buy the multi-day passes. They will save you money in the end, because 90% of the time, the paper tickets they sell you end up not being reloadable for some reason even if they claim to be. So you end up paying the .50 surcharge on top of your fare every time you ride.

So, if you're just here for the con, you can go with:

Multi-Day Visitor Pass (1-4 Days) Unlimited rides, $8.00 - $12.00
Unlimited Savings Potential!
Sold at RideStores and Breeze Vending Machines

Or, if you will be here for an entire week and plan on touring a bit, you can go with:

7-Day Pass
Unlimited rides, for 7 days beginning first-time used $13.00
Unlimited Savings Potential!
Sold at RideStores only and Breeze Vending Machines

Add .50 to the price if you will be getting a paper card, or an extra $5.00 if you would rather have the permanent plastic one for some silly reason. These allow you unlimited rides, unlimited transfers and in-outs, so it will really save you a lot especially if you want to get off, look at something, get back on, etc.

So how exactly do the Froggy photo ops work? After I select the day and pay, will I receive an email giving me my time, or do I get to choose? And is the session done at the Walk of Fame, or elsewhere? I tend to be one of those uber-anal planners, and I'd like to know as much as I can.

Okay, I feel a little silly posting this...

This is definitely one of those "you know you've been thinking about DragonCon too much when..." things...

Anyway, has anyone in here besides me have any dreams that involve DragonCon (that isn't too personal to post here)?

I've had a couple of weird dreams the closer it gets to the convention (or directly after it's over) where usually the theme of my dream is something is preventing me to get to DragonCon, or once they suddenly moved the con to December out of nowhere, or I would walk around the empty hotels and couldn't find anyone and became lost in the endless maze of hallways that went on in an endless loop and never lead me anywhere, or lead me to strange places (like suddenly back at my house, etc).

Anyone else? Or am I just crazy?
