| Has the progress report been sent out? Neither I nor my two roomies have gotten them. | |

| I just wanted to post that there are still slots available for Ann Crispin's Basic Writing Workshop. I'm a former alumnus of this and her Advanced class, both of which have been a major influence in my becoming a freelance, now award-winning writer (as part of BAD-ASS FAERIES 2: JUST PLAIN BAD), who'll be on a few panels at Dragon*Con this year. Ann has become a friend and mentor, and she mentioned that she needed to fill the course this year, so I'd love to give it the plug it deserves. Not only is Ann a great teacher, but I've made some excellent friends and networking colleagues through this class. Other A.C. Crispin alumni are Eugie Foster (who has had a few hundred short stories published) and Cat Rambo (editor of Fantasy Magazine also with very many short stories published). In any case, I can't say enough about this workshop. If you're a writer starting out, it is a powerful tool! For more info about the workshop and how to sign up, check here: http://www.dragoncon.org/writers_workshop.php- Trish Wooldridge - www.anovelfriend.com | |

| Some folks out there have come up with the brilliant idea to get D*C into the Guinness Book for the largest group of folks doing the thriller dance all together at once. I don't think there's been a recent update from them but it would only take 243 people from what I understand and I'm sure this can be done. This is their facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=94488259317 . If anyone knows more about this, I wanna hear it! Especially with MJ passing, I'm sure the interest could be drummed up. | |
|
| Are there any BSG or Firefly parties (shindigs?) scheduled yet for D*C? We went to them last year, met a lot of great people, had a great time. This year, we are bringing two D*C virgins to be sacrificed, and think they would have a great time as well. Can anyone with the 411 please post when and where, so I can get them locked into our personal con schedule?

| Our 5th Con, this ones going to be the challenge.
Is there any given method, 'Eternal membership' for example to reduce the waiting time in celebrity lines at Dcon?
I have to ask, because I'm already contemplating just how we are going to do this. Maybe Sunday is the day for this stuff when everyone else is dead. I'll be dead also, but I'll also be determined ;)

| Hi guys! My boyfriend is a big fan of all Joss Whedon, Dragon Con, Comic Con etc.. I want to really make this unforgettable and I appreciate any comments on this.
Thanks!

| Hello All, I just wanted to give a shout out to the fine people at Legendary Leatherworks www.legendaryleatherworks.com They posted an entry in this community at the beginning of July. http://community.livejournal.com/dragoncon/1980532.htmlIt couldn't have been posted at a better time. For the past couple of D*C's, I've used a tied piece of shoestring as a lanyard. I really wanted an X-Files lanyard, and had yet to find one to my liking. I chose the custom lanyard option. On the left it reads, I WANT TO BELIEVE. On the right, it reads TRUST NO ONE. I placed my order on Monday July 6. I received regular email updates on the status of my lanyard, and then it was mailed out with an estimated arrival time of Monday July 13. It actually arrived on Saturday July 11. I can't take a proper picture, but when worn, the lanyard lays flat so that the phrases on the left and the right are easily read by persons facing the wearer. The lanyard is about 36" long all the way around. I am 5'9" and the metal loop at the bottom of the lanyard falls at my bust line. The leather is strong and soft and feels fine against the neck of this sensitive skinned gal. If you are looking for a quality leather lanyard, I highly recommend Legendary Leatherworks. I am pleased and satisfied with my purchase and telling all of my friends about them. | |

| Alright, I had origionally planned on attending Dragon Con with my leather working; however, now I am not sure what may transpire in the next few weeks. I am 2 weeks from being out of Paramedic school and am stressed to the max so I havn't had much time to think or worry about anything else.
My problem is that I originally was planning on going with my fiance, but now I am newly singled and have no one to attend with. I am not sure about going alone and I can't seem to vibe up any interest with anyone else around here...what should I do? Should I suck it up and just go? Just not sure because it makes me nervous to go so far away by myself but I really do want to bring my leatherworking out because I am so proud of it. Would love some creative feed back on this or something of the sort :(

| Parade call for all faeries, elves, trolls, brownies, pixies, redhats, mermaids, nixies, sidhe, unseelie, and otherwise fun or tricksy spirits Come walk in the parade with us! We take all walks of life, all inclinations, and all people with wings. I know you have some hiding in your closet or under your bed. I do all the work for you. The group is registered in the database and I pick up your ribbons for you. Just meet us outside the hyatt or at the parade grounds and enjoy a good frolic through Atlanta. All of Atlanta, not just D*con, turns out for the parade. It is a great place to get your costume seen and to have picts of you posted online or even in the paper. Come be a fairy (yes we accept Disney Fairies too!) Join our community at dconfairies or leave a message letting me know to add you to our count. Feel free to send me a message or comment with questions. This will be our third year in the parade. We have a banner and love new people and new ideas for the group! - Mood:happy

Along with lots of people in costumes, we also need one person who can be a Twilight werewolf-in-human-form. | Quick question. Last year was my first D*C, and I remember touring the dungeons of the Hyatt late and night and finding LOADS of awesome films running. I also remember a full hour of previews one day. Thought it was awesome. Is there a place I can learn more about the flims that will be at D*C this year?
|
| Here's a question for discussion:
One of the great things at Dragoncon is spotting great t-shirts... you know, funny/clever sayings/slogans...
What are some of the greatest t-shirts you've ever seen at DC (and pix are great, if possible!)
Discuss. | |

| at least they do it right. LESLIE FISH! W00T! | |

| I have a friend coming in from Canada to the airport. Since I've only gone through customs at that airport coming BACK to the country, I don't know the situation with going in. Do any of you international types have any idea how long it usually takes you to go through customs at the Atlanta airport?
My friend is coming in Thursday evening or afternoon and wants me to pick her up prior to the actual start of Con.

| Hi I waS JUST wondering where to get information on the author signings. Will they only have certain times they are signing and are they in a specific place. I know with the walk of fame the celbs are usually there unless at a panel and they charge for autographs. Also does anyone know if the majority of the walk of fame people will only be taking pictures at the photo op thing or will they take pictures at their tables as well? I know the phto op thing has only been going on at dragoncon for a few years. thanks in advance | |

| So I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but I'd rather not assume anything and I'm having a hard time discerning from elsewhere....
Do the vendors who don't accept credit cards accept travellers' checks? I'm weary of carrying around a lot of cash. (I don't have the best of luck with wallets, historically speaking.) And I don't want to be assed out if a wad of money goes missing early on.
I am aware that, technically speaking, anyone who accepts cash *should* accept the travellers' checks, but I am also aware that some corners of the world tend to be something special.
thanks. | |

| With the clock ticking down until the con, I'd love to get the last 25 or so people I need to complete this parade group! I want to get 111 people together and go in the 2009 parade as the periodic table of the elements. It's easy -- pick an element, then do whatever you want to be that element. You can think big or think simple; the only "rule" is that you write the element's info on your costume. For instance, my Hydrogen costume will include: 1 H Hydrogen 1.008 We are more than 3/4 of the way there! Here's a Google spreadsheet showing what's been taken so far and what is still available: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pLNs7r9AZkuTGCmkx_0FmVwThere are also Facebook and LJ groups to help keep everything organized: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=98025705045http://community.livejournal.com/dcperiodictableThere are plenty of elements left. If you want to participate, reply here! Also, please pass this message along to anyone you think might be interested. | |

| Hey all, does anyone know the names of the fangsmiths that come to Dragoncon each year? There are always several in the dealer’s room, but I can't remember the names. My husband and I are doing Van Helsing and Verona this year and I need a new pair of fangs. Also, if you know of any good fangsmiths in Montreal or Toronto, that would be great too, as I could have them done before I leave. I’ve looked around the net, but they all appear to be in NYC/Miami/LA and I don’t want to do mail order as my teeth are a bit strange ;o) | |
|
| At Katsucon two years ago some friends and I did a Masters of the Universe group. I had lots of fun, but sadly none of them (save a 'maybe' from Skeletor) will be at D*C this year. I heard a rumor that there's a HUGE She-Ra group getting together, and I would love to join in.
I have a full Loo-Kee costume...you know, the annoying elf thing that popped up at the end of the show to tell the kiddies what they should have learned? Yeah him...only as a her since I hate taping myself up. lol
Anyway, if you have any info on how to get in touch with ANYWAY in any MotU group I would be thrilled. I really hope the rumors about the She-Ra group are true. No one gets my costume without some chicks in spandex hanging around...
