Hi all and welcome! This is the home of a new project for artists and writers, and of course, dragon lovers! This project is more or less open enrollment, only modded to make sure that the person requesting to join is actually an artist. ;)
It will be a dragon book, composed of 'dragonized' creatures or items, limited only by your own creativity. Each dragon would be accompanied by 'field notes' and such. The guide's title thusfar is 'The Collected Notes of the Royal Dragonicological Society: 2nd Edition'. The world is an alternate version of Earth set around 1900-1910, but with a changes to the technology in history and technology.
On that note, here are the rules so far:
1. ANYONE CAN SUBMIT ART! (Bolded and caps to get the point across!) We're not restricting styles, and not everything needs to be in color. As long as it's dragon-related we don't care. :3 This is as open of a project as we can get it!
2. This is NOT an encyclopedia of avatars! This is a collection of original works and ideas. Things like dragonized mechanical pencils, staircases, birds of paradise, or houseplants work, but submitting Dustwing or Mokeydragon do not. :)
3. Each piece submitted should be at the top of your ability (Note- this does NOT mean realism.) and preferably at least half of the entries to be serious.
4. Your inspiration and reference must come from life or photographs, but not from another artist. I think this is self-explanatory. No one likes a plagiarizer. D:
Example:
If you have a mechanical pencil you like and you successfully dragonize it, awesome. If you love rainbow boas and make a dragon-boa and are using photo reference? Awesome so long as the photo is royalty free, best if you took the photo or only used it to to remind you of how the muscles and such work. Buuut don't redraw OCE's road dragon. You can definatley still do a road themed dragon, but make sure the inspiration and execution is yours.
Legal stuff: You'd retain rights to the image, the print right and the original.
Timeline: We're shooting for FC '09, which is about 8 months away from the date of this community's creation.
For more information, read the first post here!
For more technical rules, read the second post. :3
The claims post is here.
Current list of artists and claims:
Also, last but not least: Most, if not all, of the writing will be done by the very talented
