Title: "Turn up the Rock Box"
Fandom: Lost Boys
Characters: Laddie, Paul
Prompt: #69 Thunder
Word Count: 139
Rating: PG
He'd always been the same, ever since he could remember. But just the volume of it and the rumbling vibrations that shook the walls, were terrifying to him. Even now as the shadows crept across the ruined floor and the rain poured into the sea outside; he couldn't help but hide himself away. Flinching as every ominous crashing filled the air.
'Hey, c'mon out.'
Wild blond hair and a big smile caught his attention as he was lifted from his hiding place. He clung on tight as Paul carried him to the fountain, setting him down on its rim.
'You know what you have to do when the thunder comes don't ya bud?'
Laddie smiled. 'Turn up the Rock-Box.'
Paul grinned, hi-fiving him. 'Exactly.'
The music filled the ruins and Laddie -dancing around with Paul- wasn't scared anymore.
Title: New Life?
Fandom: Lost Boys
Characters: Star
Prompt: #76 Rebirth
Word Count: 138
Rating: PG
Everything was different. Her eyes could see further than ever before, but natural light would blind them. As she stood on the clifftop she could hear everything, the waves below, animals running a mile away. In the distance she could still hear the hundreds of people on the boardwalk. Their screams of terror at the Rollercoaster, their laughter when it was over.
She smiled as she thought of herself as they were. How the adrenaline would kick in when you reached the highest point on the ride. How she felt like she was flying as the car hurtled round the track. But that was nothing to her now a pale shadow, like a silver white scar against this new life, and yet she couldn't quite let it go. Afraid of what she would become, afraid of being re-born.
Title: Death Wish
Fandom: Lost Boys
Characters: Paul
Prompt: #31 Sunrise
Word Count: 123
Rating: PG
He was always the last to go into the sleeping chambers at daybreak. It was his one indulgence, he loved to watch the day brighten outside. David had often remarked, with that perfect sneer, that Paul had a death wish. Paul, not usually one to lose his cool, could have punched him for that. Certainly he had had a death wish when David had breezed in and turned him.
He hated his sire for that, just as he loved him for giving him this second chance to live. So he'd watch the sunrise cast light on the stone floor and he'd realise how lucky he was to be here.
Title: Last Light
Fandom: Lost Boys
Characters: Dwayne
Prompt: #32 Sunset
Word Count: 154
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: I kind of always thought Dwayne looked a bit Native American, so here I've tried to show this with him finding his place in nature.
He always had been an early riser. Even when he'd walked in the daylight world. He sensed the coming night and awoke in time to see the bloodred light trail its last soft tendrils across the sky. He could feel nature's patterns shift around him as the nightwalkers began to wake. He answered the Coyote in his own tongue. Letting the words of his ancestors flow like water from his mouth. The wild dog drew closer, he sensed the creature's eyes on his back as he crossed the sand.
His bare feet left no imprints in his wake as he drew to the water's edge. He closed his eyes, letting the waves wash over his feet, preparing himself for the coming night. He stirred as the others awoke and turned, heading back to the hotel. A shadow on the clifftop called and he answered once more. Two lost creatures in the world of night.
