So, there's a new version of Guxt up, gang. Apparently "Ranking" and "Trial" can be used now, though I can't play it now as I'm on a mac with no access to Parallels at the moment.
It sounds delicious, though.

Edit: So you can unlock the Trial and Ranking by beating the game once. Trial is apparently a non-stop game until you die once, and ranking is just a local list of high scores.

Edit2: Wrong again! Trial is the "true" game apparently. But you can't die at all.

He also mentions on his BBS that "it looks like I'll be able to get version 1 out by the end of the month. Things are looking good."

I like the change to orange shots instead of red, it matches the color scheme better. I still can't get past the level 3 boss, but I suck at these vertical scrolling shooters so that's understandable. It seems Trial and Ranking are still greyed out, though.

If the game is about flying, wouldn't the Japanese katakana "gasuto" more likely imply the translated name "Gust"? Or did Pixel specify that it was actually "Guxt", because he's a contrarian badass like that?

It says "guxt" in English right above the "gasuto", and it's in the filename too.

Probably Pixel's intention, then. I figured it might've been a patcher who was in a hurry or something.

Haha, finally beat the second stage 5 boss. Apparently, it has two parts, the Ballos eye and the Doctor face. I also love how Pixel reused some of the music from Cave Story for this boss, but changed the tune so much that it sounds like a whole new song.
