About
"Do something scary. The payoff is awesome!" - Lucy Lawless

Welcome to the "Do Something Scary" multifandom fic and artathon!!

You know that story (or wall or icon or music vid) that crossed your mind once upon a time that you never quite had the nerve to write? The one that was too over-the-top, too risque, too violent, too intimate, too revealing, too bizarre, too cliche to admit to, too far outside your comfort zone? The one for a fandom you feel unqualified to write in? Or the one you're afraid everyone else has already done better than you could? The one you're afraid to admit was your idea? The one you're afraid people will judge you for? The one that makes you nervous even to see it in ink? The one that holds too much of your heart and soul? The one in your peripheral vision you're afraid to look directly upon?

Whatever it is, for whatever reason, it's the creation that's inside you that you're afraid to give to the world.

That's what you're going to produce for this ficathon. You're going to do something scary and find out the payoff can be awesome.:)

What you can write/create for this create-athon:
--A fanfiction for any fandom
--An original fic in any genre
--A piece of graphic art in ANY fandom
--An original piece of graphic art
--A fan music video
--An original video or short film
--Works of any rating (all properly labeled)

What you can't create for this venue:
--Real People Fic
--Child Pornography (by which I mean a peace in which child porn is portrayed as okay, if you want to write about the CSI gang bringing down child pornographers and go into graphic detail on the horrors suffered, feel free :))

Details and schedules will be posted to the group as developed. But essentially, you sign up and give the fandom or category in which you'll be working and a short one line tag for the potential project a la Friends. (i.e. "The One In Which Janet Frasier Explores Her Love of Shakespearean Acting", "The One In Which Skinner Finds Mulder's Porn Stash", "The One In Which Joxer Crucifies Caesar") You agree to complete said project and post on the said date.

Longer fic projects are also welcome, in which case you will commit to offering up the first 10,000 words of your Great American Novel/Fanfic by the deadline.

All about anonymity. This was your first thought, wasn't it? Can I do this anonymously? Well, yes, you can. Almost. To keep it clean and neat, you will have to out yourself to me, Rowan Darkstar, the moderator. I will swear to you on whichever God or Goddess you choose that I shall never reveal your secret, and I will post the work for you from my account with an Anonymous byline. Details about how to sign-up as an anonymous entrant and the procedures will be included in the upcoming sign-up and rules posts.
